MM Continuation

i know a lot of people out there didn't think Majora's Mask was such a great game. i thought that some of the gameplay aspects (time limit, resets, saving) did take away from the game, but the storyline, transformations, masks, world, and especially the vast amount of complex sidequests did make it a fun game overall.

we can all agree that OoT, WW, and TP are within one timeline and one world, just in different times.

MM, however, was in a different, yet parallel, world within a much darker storyine, leaving several problems (small ones, but still there if you pay attention) unsolved. completely different take on the zelda series. and was link searching for navi? because he never found her either...

i think that a continuation of MM could make quite an interesting game.

No, we don't all agree with TWW and TP being in the same timeline. It's been pretty much proven that they are in different timelines. TWW and PH being in one timeline, and MM and TP being in another is basically set in stone.

I'd like to see such a continueation from MM, but doubt it will happen. Aounoma has never made a sequel to a sequel. TWW is OoT's sequel, just like MM. I really doubt they'll make a sequel for MM.

i also doubt that they'll make a MM sequel, just thought it was an interesting prospect

what makes you say OoT, TP, and WW aren't in the same timeline?

OoT comes first. Then, in the future, TP happens (same world, same basic location setup, same races, and they make a bunch of references to OoT, like how Ganondorf was banished to another realm, and the ancient Hero of Time). Then, even MORE distant in the future, there is WW. Hyrule, the land of OoT and TP, still exists, it's just underwater.

Aounoma said TP is parrallel to TWW, after he confirmed the split timeline. Also, it just doesn't fit well between OoT and TWW. There's no mention of a flood, Ganon is said to break out of the SR before TWW, and he wasn't even sealed anywhere at the end of TP. He's just killed.

Re: MM Continuation

well, assuming the 3 are part of one timeline, there is obviously an enormous time gap between TP and WW, which leaves room for anything to happen, possibly connecting the storylines

but you're saying Aounama himself said that TP and WW are in separate timelines?

Yes, he said parrellel. By definition, that means they run alongside each other. Like railroad tracks.

If he meant to say they went on the same timeline, I assume he's use the word adjascent.

Re: MM Continuation

i see what your saying

so, in a sense, the OoT timeline split into different directions, one leading to TP and the other to WW (kind of a depressing way to go)

which timeline split do u like better?

This is the one I've been going by lately:

------TWW-PH-TMC-FS-FSA-ALttP-LA-LoZ-AoL-OoX
OoT<
------MM-TP

Nintendo seems to want the FS saga in the Adult timeline because of the appearance of force gems in PH, so I put most games in the Adult timeline. This give them an opportunity to put past games in one area, and strive for proper continuity with new games, without the hassles of the older games.

Actually, I'm going to move this into the theorizing section, as it deals with timelines.

Read my topic Daphnes.

And debate this with me there. NOW.

Uh oh. I'm in trouble. *hides behind Mod banner*

Really and truly, I HAVE to play PH before talking about it. Maybe after I play it, I'll change my mind. However, I'm afraid if I get sucked into an all out debate it will spoil too much for me.

Edit: I have stated that I accept some games going in other places that what I put. One of those being TMC. Pinecove believes it goes before OoT, and doesn't believe the existance of force gems deters his beliefs.

I have to play PH and draw my own conclusions. If I play, and still disagree with pinecove, I may have to face his wrath.

He is a heavily respected theorist, afterall.

Re: MM Continuation

^ He sure is. I also feel a bit stumped after quite a few people have played/are playing PH right now. I can't get into all the juicy theories untill I've completed it. Frustration!

Shadow_Link_08: There's a stickied guide on top of this forum that will explain everything about the split timeline, if you feel like you need further info. The link is also in my signature.

Re: MM Continuation

A confirmation by Zelda director Eiji Aonuma confirmed that TP and WW took place in parallel times. This means that they travel in the same direction, with time passing normally, however, they can never meet, and do not reflect upon each other. Whatever happens in WW cannot affect what happens in TP, and so on afterwards respectfully.

OOT is where we believe the split had occured due to the complications of time travel OOT had.

We cannot create a perfect timeline yet, but i'm sure there are many theories you can refer to, to obtain a better view
