PH in the Timeline

I don't have the game yet and I am wondering if, in a spoiler free manner, anyone can tell me if PH does anything substantial with the timeline?

Cheers!

It connects the FS saga to TWW via force gems by telling how force gems came to be.

Luigi wins in humor, but Ike wins in looks.

Re: PH in the Timeline

Then that means the FS saga is indeed after TWW and not before OoT.

I very well knew it couldn't have been pre-OoT.

No it doesn't!

It lets us have a possibility of other games coming after PH but the FS saga is still most likely to remain after TP.

I personally support there being two wars, as well:

1. The "Seal War/Imprisoning War" mentioned in the manual, which I believe to refer to the events of OoT;

2. The "Great War" mentioned in the game itself, which I believe to refer to the events of FSA.

Yeah, I remember your thread about that. I can't say for certain myself, as I haven't played the game, but I'm likely to believe it's good enough evidence to put it post-PH.

Or at least evidence enough not to put the FS saga in the child timeline.

No. Because the force gems in PH serve a completely different purpose than in FS/FSA.
So that could mean that the Force gems were created before OoT.

Re: PH in the Timeline

It takes place right after WW, of course. That's been evident from the beginning. Even the art style is the same.

A source of power (indeed, a source of evil-smiting power) in both, thank you very much.

What other purpose does the Force Gems serve in PH aside from using them as keys to pass further into the Ocean King's Temple.

In FSA, they're the Four Sword's power source. So obviously they have different purposes between the games.

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
First we need to establish a few things:

1) Force Gems in PH are only described once, as the power of the Ocean King stolen by evil. (Source below.)
"That is a Force Gem, stolen from the Ocean King by the hands of evil."

2) The Sand of Hours, the power source of the Phantom Hourglass, is made of Force Gems. (Source below.)
"The sand inside the Phantom Hourglass is called the Sand of Hours. The beast you defeated in the Temple of Fire held some grains of it. It is said to be made of Force Gems of the great spirit, the Ocean King. It gives deep strength to whoever holds its power."

3) Every creature possesses a sacred power known as life force, which is manifested physically as the Sand of Hours. (Source below.)
"As you know, every creature in this world possesses a sacred power. This power is called life force. The Sand of Hours is a physical manifestation of that power."

4) Taking points 1-3 above, we know:
[Force Gems = Sand of Hours = Life Force.]

5) The sacred power of the Phantom Blade is supplied by the Sand of Hours. (Source below.)
"Take this blade to the Ocean King. He will add the Sand of Hours. Only he can empower the Phantom Sword with the ability to control time."

6) The sacred power to repel evil housed within the Four Sword is supplied by Force Gems. (Source below.)
"You found a Force Gem, the Four Sword's power source!"

In short, the Sand of Hours/Force Gems/life force do more or less what Force Gems did in Four Swords Adventures, plus so much more.

Re: PH in the Timeline

Well, PH takes place in the Adult timeline, a few months after PH. This has already been established, but I thought I'd make extra sure that it was mentioned. I know that you didn't want spoilers, but in order to explain my theory I'll need to have a few. They're mainly enemies, NPCs and treasures, though, so they shouldn't give too much away. I'll put them in Spoiler format so you don't have to read them if you don't want to.

There are a few enemies in PH which haven't been seen for a while in Zelda games. This suggests that games like LoZ, ALttP come after or somewhere close to PH.

These enemies are:

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
Land-walking Octoroks
Moldorms
Ropes
Rats and, more importantly,
Zora Warriors!

The last enemy in particular totally changed my perception of where exactly some of the older games fitted into the timeline. The fact that:

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
Zoras were supposed to have evolved into Rito in WW, but obviously were alive and well somewhere, and that they had turned evil

makes me think that many - if not all - of the 2D games take place after PH. The presence of the 1st enemy on my list in PH strengthens this theory.

Reading the other posts in this thread also makes it clear that the FS series comes after PH as well, although I had thought this after seeing:

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
Green ChuChus, which form puddles to evade Link. They did this in TMC as well, if I'm not mistaken - which I may be (my memory of this game is foggy at present!)

and also:

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
Gorons, which had me confused as to the placement of TMC - I thought they were extinct in the Adult Timeline until I saw screenshots from the game!

Another thing which made me suspect this was that:

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
PH refers to Zelda (Tetra, technically) as a Light Force, or something similar to that, often. The only other game to do this that I've played is TMC

There. That should about do it. Hope this helps!

Wow, this clears up alot of stuff for those of us who haven't played PH, and unfortunately, probably never will. Mucho Gracias to all who provided.
