Majora behind the mask.

Majora's mask indicates propety hence the apostrephe so who might majora be? A godlike diety? We have seen the fierce powers of the mask in action but if that was a mask, what must he have been like? Where has he gone? Why hasn't he returned? Please share what you think. They didn't tell us much about Majora. (I think majora is more powerful than ganon. Pulling a moon down with a mask I think thats some sweet power.)

Without turning this into a "ganon vs majora" thread, you'll have to consider that ganon/dorf is really weak at first when he's a Gerudo man. Ok, he knows fighting and magic, but he's nothing outrageous until he gets the Triforce. Then he'll kick everyone's ass.... but Link's.

So you can't really compare the two, I mean Ganondorf is a man and Majora is some sort of deity.

And as for the subject Who was Majora, we can only speculate. Some think that the Twili's were behind the mask, because of the similiar design between Midna's helmet and the mask.

I never thought about the Twili being behind it. I'll see if I can dig anything up on that.

Re: Majora behind the mask.

Or just even Majora's mask. The greatest main Zelda villian ever (in my opinion).

Was ever explained why Majora's mask wanted to destroy the world with the moon.

Perhaps as revenge to destroy whatever defeated him in that world?

Re: Majora behind the mask.

Apparently it is because he "hasn't got any friends" .

Majora's mask seems to resemble a child time and time again. Even the last battle is just a game of "Good guys and Bad guys" in its eyes.

Maybe its some kind of child deamon which was trapped because of its power.

Re: Majora behind the mask.

Before ANY of you say anything else-- know this. The manga released at the same time as MM that contained the 'origins of Majora' are not canon. At all.

Maybe it's just a game character Nintendo came up with.

According to the manga, Majora was a powerful monster that would terrorize the people of Termina. Eventually, an unnamed musician who looked suspiciously like the Fierce Deity came and sang a song, which amused Majora so much that he started dancing. Eventually, he died from exhaustion, and the musician made Majora's Mask from the remains, which he then presented to the people that Majora terrorized. Eventually, the people began to realize the mask's power, and sealed it away in fear.

I know the manga isn't canon, but it sounds feasible in my opinion. It also somewhat explains why the child wearing Majora's Mask on the moon gave you the Fierce Deity Mask. It isn't really evil, but because it bears the resemblance of the musician who killed him, Majora treats it as such.

Re: Majora behind the mask.

I think Majora was a demon who the Ikana worshipped, but it was trapped within the Mask which it's followers used in rituals by the Four Giants - as the Happy Mask Salesman mentions - and sealed away. It's followers were then driven from the land or into extinction or soemthing like that. This could explain why it is seemingly so angry at the Four Giants (coupled with the Skull Kid's anger towards them as well). The Demon is female as well, just in case you were wondering!

Re: Majora behind the mask.

Do you actully see the deamon in the manga?
Is it(she) a child deamon?
If the musician sang a song wouldn't that make him a singer?

Re: Majora behind the mask.

Majora's Mask doesn't belong from Majora. In the manga, the mask was made from Majora's corpse after he was killed by Oni. There you have it.

PS: Majora is male.

Here is a translated version of the page directly before the start of the "majora's mask origin" from the manga

PS: Majora is female
