Darknuts n' Iron Knuckles

Ever played LoZ and AoL? One have Darknuts, the other Iron Knuckles. They are IDENTICAL. Their Japanese names are also similar.

I think that Dark Nut is Ganon's soldiers, while Iron Knuckle is Ganon's guards.

Iron Knuckle

Iron Knuckle is a monstrous metal knight who has been known to sit motionless for hundreds of years without moving an inch. When it spots an intruder, Iron Knuckle springs to life and fights ferociously. On some occasions, Iron Knuckle fights atop an armored horse.

Hence, obviously not as "alive" as Darknuts, who would need to eat and drink among other things, and wouldn't be able to stand still for hundreds of years. Or so I assume because it's obvious that Darknuts are living creatures.

First of all, Iron Knuckles are ten times more badass in appearance. >>

But yeah, they're definately not the same.
The Iron Knuckles basically ARE the armor, and the Darknut's armor can be removed. It's a seperate being.

Like somebody said, Iron Knuckles are basically upped Armos Knights, AoL shows that because of the animated statues. The only difference from an Armos Knight is that it attacks intelligently.

In OoT, you see the iron knuckles only in the gerudo fortress and the dungoen in th desert collossus. In TP, you see the dark nuts in the temple of time and hyrule castle.

I never thought about that......but who is the stronger?

EDIT there are darknuts in the desert in the cave of ordeals.

Darknuts post OoT are faster, though I'm not sure if they take off four points of health like the OoT iron knuckles do.

AoL has both in there, and is possibly the best place to check. I forget how many hearts TP Darknuts take off, but it isn't four.

A good explanation for Iron Knuckles being stronger is because they are supposedly machines. Darknuts are faster because they aren't made of heavy gears.

I have always wondered about this, but I think Iron Knuckles are not machines, but instead just armored warriors who are trained to follow a set combat style. Think about it, if they were machines, then wouldn't the Iron Knuckle who was actually Nabooru act even slightly different because she would be controlling the Iron Knuckle from the inside, even though she were brainwashed. Just a thought, though.

She does act different. She summns her weapon by snapping her fingers. Iron Knuckles are normally activated like Armos, which are mechanical. Except in LoZ, since Armos were originally pertified Hylian soldiers brought to life by touch.

Anyway, IK have more in common with Armos than Darknuts.
