How do you suppose Nintendo is going to bring the two timelines back together?

Considering that the split timeline theory has been confirmed (I did not know this until now), I thought it would be cool to look around and listen to other people's ideas of how Nintendo might bring the two timelines back together.

My idea is that it bridges over several games, say, Game A for Timeline A and Game B for Timeline B, and in Game C, the two Links from either game will finally cross paths, and from there, they must work together to seal away whatever the evil is.

The only way I could see any interlink between the 2 timelines is an aLttP style game, where you can move between 2 parallel worlds.
However, the thought of the two timelines combining seems more than unlikely. In fact, I'd rule it out altogether.

Well, if they explain how the MS got from Ganondorfs skull into the Lost Woods in PH, then I think most of the problems will be solved. They also need to work a bit more in the FS trilogy placement, but that could probably also get worked out in PH, or in another game.

Re: How do you suppose Nintendo is going to bring the two timelines back together?

I don't see why Nintendo would ever bring the two timelines back together into a linear one. Nintendo wanted more freedom to do what they want with the series, and having two timelines, one of which has only a couple of games in it, is a perfect way to allow them to have more creativity with Zelda. They confirmed the split timeline to make it easier for themselves, and bringing the two back together is a move Nintendo is hardly liable to make.

Re: How do you suppose Nintendo is going to bring the two timelines back together?

I don't think they will at all. From a gameplay perspective, there's nothing new under the sun about time travel- Zelda's already done it twice, and is gearing up to do it once more. Another vast story involving epic time travel, like Ocarina of Time, will probably not happen again. From a story perspective, the two Hyrules in both timelines are so vastly different, that even switching between the two of them after the Flood is problematic. After all, New Hyrule is not on top of Old Hyrule.

As Sentient said, the two timelines allow for much more creativity, especially with tone. The adult timeline is a much happier place. The child timeline is much more grave.

Oh geez I didn't read it correctly... -.- I thought that you're asking how Nintendo is going to fill in the gaps in the timeline... But putting it back to linear, no that's not happening.

it would be interesting if there was a game where you spent the first half of the game in one timeline, and then you crossed dementions to the other.
Maybe you spend the second half in LoZ AoL hyrule.
Never going to happen though.

To be honest I used to wonder if they would bring the timelines back together.

But considering how so many differen't things happened to each timeline that really affected the world around them. Its hard to think of the outcome if they fused back.

I like this idea, and others mentioned of cross timeline travel, how good would it be to travel between Hyule in two vastly different appearences? That ia an amazing concept.

Will it happen though? I doubt it very much. I wouldn't mind waiting years for a game like this to come out, with two huge detailed Hyrules in one game, having to go and fetch items from one version, and take them to the other version. Who knows, the confirmation of the split may well be leading up to this, but this is more wishful thinking on my behalf.

Re: How do you suppose Nintendo is going to bring the two timelines back together?

If you mean to reconnect the 2 timelines into becoming linear again, I doubt this will happen at all.

The split in a way, creates a variety of openings for new Zelda games to take place in. Now Nintendo doesn't have to focus too much on its inconsistencies when filling in gaps for a linear timeline, when lores from different Zelda games now take place on a different timeline instead. It makes their game placements somewhat easier, and it makes theorizing more in-depth IMO.

Re: How do you suppose Nintendo is going to bring the two timelines back together?

Its not possible to merge the two timelines...Well...based on video game knowledge(you can do anything),it can be done, but it won't make sense as both timelines take on very different paths in their respective histories.
It would be very infeasible to try to merge two histories together as many questions come to play...
Example:What will be the end resulting History???
How will it be explained?
etc...

Yeah... I fiddled with it, and I cam close to having them rejoin, but the best you can do it get them to intertwine and directly affect each other at key points.
