The King Of Red Lions

I thought of this up but... The King of Red Lions? Did this have anything to do with any of the previous Zelda's?

Re: The King Of Red Lions

Other then, in human form, having a similar desgin to the King in a Link to the Past and looking exactly like the King in the Instruction manual illustration for the Adventure of Link back story I am unsure. This desgin has since been used in two dimension Zelda's, the Minish cap is the only one I'm complettely 100% sure about though.

Re: The King Of Red Lions

The King of a thing, group, or organization, called "the red lions" has no reference to any other game. More importantly though, we know he is the King of Hyrule, and that is important, especially to timelines, as a royal bloodline with a male ruler has not always existed in every game.

As he was hiding out in tWW, I'm guessing someone finding his true identity would be confused by the title "king of red lions" and no one would think him an important person. So it was a title to waylay those looking for him.

Re: The King Of Red Lions

There is some connection between the King of Red Lions and the Fishman/men, as the first Fishman Link meets tells KoRL that he's repayed his debt. I don't think this has anything to do with the "Red Lions" as a group. It's probably just a cool name, or a take on the red Phoenix under the Triforce on the Hylian shield. Both lions and phoenixes have noble connotations associated with their use, so it makes him all the kinglier.

Re: The King Of Red Lions

Not necessary. The name might have some older origins. As the Deku Tree, Jabu and many other powerful deities know and recognize the name. The Deku Tree states this very clearly. Although the most logical option is that he has been in that form for ages and that the Deku Tree and the other simply met him before.

Come to think of it that probably is true as it is said that he was wandering the seas looking for a hero, right?

Which would again mean that he made up the name. With or without reference to anything else, doesn't really matter. It's just a name anyway.

And I don't really see any connection to previous Zelda games...
