Alternate explanation of Ganon's transformation in FSA
Until now, I, along with many others, have believed that the cause for Ganon's transformation in FSA was attributed to his possession of the Trident. Once again, I'm here to challenge that status quo.
I'm going to assume for a moment that either the Mirror of Twilight is the Dark Mirror, or that the Dark Mirror's properties are equivalent to those of the MoT, specifically in the realm of reflecting the darkness in people's hearts. I'm also going to take Raian's idea that the Trident only amplifies the innate darkness in Ganondorf's heart, making it stronger; it doesn't grant him darkness in and of itself. With all that evil in his heart, if Ganondorf were to, say, gaze into the Dark Mirror, the effects would be catastrophic, right? Like... transforming into an evil demon, right? Yes, I'm proposing that Ganon's transformation into a monster is due to the Mirror, not the Trident. His immense demon power and the ability to transform the land come from the Trident, but the Mirror is what makes him go from being simply an evil sorcerer into a demon-monster. NOTE: It is likely that he adopts his "Ganon" persona before the transformation.

Re: Alternate explanation of Ganon's transformation in FSA
I don't believe that the mirror is responsible for Ganon's power, because it is never suggested to be the source of his magic in the game. But in reading what you have said, I have found an easier way of explaining how the Ganondorf is empowered by the Trident.
If we assume for a moment that Ganondorf in OoT got his evil magic from Twinrova (but not his evil heart, obviously. TWW shows that his heart came from his hatred for Hyrule and the goddesses), then the absence of Twinrova in FSA would explain why Ganondorf was never said to be in possession of evil magic. Thus, the Trident acts as Twinrova's replacement, as an alternative source for Ganondorf's evil magic. But what is different is that the Trident possesses tremendous evil magic in comparison to what Twinrova can teach Ganondorf, thus the magic of the Trident can transform Ganondorf properly into the pig form. That said, I'm losing faith in the belief that the Trident in FSA is related to what Ganon wields in ALTTP, apart from the image. I just can't make any sense in explaining how and why the Trident would attach itself to someone who becomes known as the King of Darkness, unless we accept true reincarnation of Ganondorf. |

Re: Alternate explanation of Ganon's transformation in FSA
I'm not saying the Mirror has anything to do with Ganon's power either; just his transformation into a monster. And I don't really find the Twinrova point to be very compelling, since she/they appear later in the Oracles anyway.

Quote:
As for the pig form, I have nothing to say why the mirror didn't reflect Ganondorf's nature. It works fine if you believe in it.

Just throwing a question:
What are your views on Ganon in OoT?

Re: Alternate explanation of Ganon's transformation in FSA
The transformation appears to be induced by Ganondorf's control of the ToP. The beast reflects the pig because that is how Ganon has always appeared.
