The death of Hyrule in TWW; could it save the Sleeping Zelda legend?
This is based on an idea I had recently. Princess Zelda is specifically tied to the kingdom of Hyrule. She possesses a special relationship with the people of Hyrule; representing the kingdom in a significant manner that the kings have not been able to compare with. She acts as Hyrule's source of hope and salvation.
So when Hyrule was sealed away under the Great Sea, Zelda was no longer Hyrule's princess. With her connection to Hyrule severed, Zelda could no longer act as the kingdom's light; she became merely a pirate named Tetra. When the kingdom was on the verge of revival, and Zelda's power was returned to her, Tetra became Princess Zelda once again. When the Triforce of Wisdom was taken from her, Zelda did not lose her princess form, since Hyrule still had hope of recovery. It was only when the kingdom was completely drowned that Princess Zelda was completely severed from her title once again, becoming again the pirate Tetra. Yet according to current TWW-ALTTP theories, the Hyrule that is ruled by the Hylian descendants is not the dead Hylian kingdom, but a very new kingdom built merely upon the memories of the Hylians who once lived there. So with the Hylian kingdom dead, does the Zelda rule necessarily apply after TWW? Could the death of the old Zelda naming tradition leave room for a "rebirth" of that tradition? What do you all think? |

Clever, very clever Raian.
This fits nicely with my "king of Hyrule was a spirit in tWW and roamed the earth because Hyrule continued to exist" theory. I agree with you. Only when the kingdom has hope does Zelda become who she was destined to be: a shining beacon of hope to all of Hyrule. Then when the sacred lands are finally washed away she reverts back to her Pirate form.... although that may have just been caused by the King's wish. "Wash away these ancient Lands" "Give these children a new hope" meaning that this Zelda would never be Princess again. |

It still makes more sense to me that he survived:
1) because he turned himself into a boat; boats are not alive, and therefore do not die; 2) because his physical body was sealed in time in the kingdom, and therefore would not die. And we've talked about this before on MSN, so... ![]() Lex approves. Not that Lex has to for it to be any good. xD

Don't apologize Raian, my fault entirely. I haven't played tWW in a very long time. Does the Deku-Tree say that when you beat the game once and then the hylian text is changed to english?

No, he tells you this when you ask about the King of Red Lions, after getting Farore's Pearl.

That tree just reminds of KG's endless speeches of little tidbits. But now that I know where he says it I think I'll just go check for myself. Thanks Raian. |
