ATTN: All Wise Men, Knights and other Theorists!

Now that we have less than a week before the American launch of TP, it needs to be discussed exactly how we are going to organise discussion on this board after its release. Depending on location and version of the game, we will be getting TP at different times and if people start discussing it before everyone has had a chance to play and finish it, then it will be unfair if details are established before everyone has had the chance to make an input.

This is what I propose:
-On November 18th, we all depart from this board either to play TP or to avoid the spoilers.
-On Feburary 1st, we all return to the board to discuss TP. That should give 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 months for everyone to complete it over Christmas. If anyone has not finished the game before that time, they can wait longer or accept the spoilers.

When we come back, try to maintain the same attitude that we have always maintained. Please don't post random speculation; please don't post the bleeding obvious.

Since it will likely be a very long time before someone develops an accurate Quote FAQ, I recommend that if you see any quotes or images of interest, write them down somewhere to present to the board when we all return. This way, we can begin establishing facts right from the beginning of discussion.

Does anyone want to add to this or disagree with this?

I suggest, for those Zelda oldbies who have been examining the series almost professionally since at least OoT, that we each keep TP weblogs to track not only our progress, but also these interesting findings, as well as important personal reflections with respect to the game experience. As a potential template for such entries:

Date/Time: Date and time of the entry
Game Duration: How long you've been playing TP, in game time
Game Location: What location you are currently located in at the time you write the log entry
Items Obtained Since the Last Entry: What items you have found since the last log entry
Storyline Reflections: What has happened storyline-wise since the last entry
Important Quotes: Quotes you feel are important to timeline discussion, the plot, or that capture the spirit of the game/series
Personal Reflections: Things you felt personally as you were playing the game (since the last entry)

We could post our logs on ZU when we've all completed the game. With any luck, mi madre will be able to secure me a Wii and TP:Wii on the 19th, and I'll be playing it over Thanksgiving, at least (Nov. 22nd-Nov. 26), and possibly bringing it back to my dorm with me (but I doubt it). If not then, then I'll have to wait until either Christmas or the end of the semester.

^That sounds like homework lol. But anyway, that does sound like a good idea. I probably won't do it, but others should. And I agree with jhurvid, oops, Raian, that we should break until everyone has beaten it. I won't be able to get it until Christmas, unfortunately, so I think that's definitely a good idea.

I can't get it till Christmas, so I'll probably just stay in Nayru for that time. Though, once I have it, i'll be glad to find any interesting quotes and such that would be useful for tying the game to OoT and MM. Though, I like Lex's plan better.

As an aside, I plan to focus primarily on the relationships between the various provinces and peoples and cultures within the game as my primary attention with respect to timeline-sensitive issues in TP.

For the record, you don't need to do the log entries as LionHarted suggested if you don't want to.

If people are going to have difficulty getting the game before Christmas, is it worth extending the deadline to March 1st perhaps?

That's kind of like what I proposed back at GameFAQs several months ago. I want everyone to have played the game before discussing it. That way, we are all on the same page, and discussion can be more effective. I'd say February should be enough time for everyone, but that's me.

I won't be able to get it in some time. but don't worry I can take spoilers without dying (instantly).

Well I'm not getting the Wii version so I have to wait till december 11th to play the dam thing. So probably sometime after Christmas I can probably discuss it.

We want to make sure no one has the game ruined for them, so we're waiting until at least mid-January before we begin in-depth discussion, so we can be sure that everyone has time to complete the game.

u_u I guess this xmas I'll have to take a break from ZU since I won't be able to discuss anything ='( I guess I'll start posting at general chitchat...

Another thing I'd like to add: what will we do about the whole mirroring of the Wii version? Because it looks like only the GC version will be of any use for discussion of geography and the like. Looks to me like we'll have to wait until we get a map of the overworld of that version.

Preferably before TP comes out we should have a discussion/chat with all fellow wise men and Hylian knights to disucuss this timeline we have right now before the impact of the game. Any ideas or suggestions about this feel free to ask (asking all fellow wise men and hylian knights not just Raian.)

Finished a brief preliminary impressions/introduction entry for my TP weblog. Will post it, of course, after my TP-hiatus is finished.

Also, I second HeroOfTime5's idea--we need to find out what facts are 'official' facts of our timeline, so I second his motion. Any discrepancies can be settled for the time being, I suppose, by a vote, but we need to set our timeline mindset straight to bring closure to this 'era' of timeline discussion. I will refrain from bringing any of my own radical ideas into the equation. lol

I think I'll write my own little journal when I get the game. My first new Zelda game since I became a Hylian Knight. This would be better than if I did journals of older games because the magic has become diluted over time.

I'll be getting the GC version between Dec. 11 and Christmas.
