The Mark of the Triforce

Whilst playing through some games, I noticed that when Link / Zelda / Ganondorf has the mark of the Triforce on the back of their hands, which hand it is on varies between games. Just look:

Ocarina of Time:

Link:

Although it's hard to tell from this screenshot, I know from playing OoT that Link has the mark of the Triforce on his left hand.

Sheik / Zelda:

As you can see, Sheik / Zelda has the Triforce mark on the back of his / her right hand.

Ganondorf:

Ganondorf has the Triforce on the back of his right hand in OoT.

Majora's Mask:
No Triforce appears in MM.

Twilight Princess:

Link:

Link very clearly has the Triforce on his left hand in TP.

Zelda:
Unknown.

Ganondorf:
Unknown.

The Wind Waker:

Link:

Link has the Triforce on his left hand in TWW.

Zelda:

Zelda has the mark of the Triforce on the back of her right hand.

Ganondorf:

Ganondorf has the Triforce mark on the back of his right hand in TWW (I'm aware that at the end of TWW, the Triforce of Power comes out of his left hand, but he's holding Link with his right, and it'd look silly if both the Triforce of Power and Courage came out so close together).

Phantom Hourglass:
Not released.

The Minish Cap:
No Triforce marks are in TMC.

Four Swords:
No Triforce marks are in FS.

Four Swords Adventures:
No Triforce marks are in FSA.

A Link to the Past:
Although the Triforce is in ALttP, no one has a Triforce amrk on the back of their hands, since Link only acquires the Triforce at the end of ALttP.

Link's Awakening:
No Triforce marks are in LA.

Oracles:

Oracle of Seasons:

As you can see, Link obviously has the Triforce mark on the back of his left hand in the Oracles.

Zelda:
Unknown.

Ganon:
Ganon does not have a Triforce mark in the Oracles, since he was resurrected from his death in ALttP, and he lost the Triforce to Link in ALttP.

Legend of Zelda:

Link:

As you can see, the mark of the Triforce appears on either the left or right hand of the one possessing a piece of the Triforce. I think there is a reason why it is on the left or right for Link, Zelda and Ganon. I believe that if the person is left-handed, the Triforce mark will appear on their left hand. And if they're right-handed, the Triforce mark will appear on their right hand.

This is proven by the fact that we know Link is left-handed, since he ALWAYS wields his sword in his left hand, hence why the mark of the Triforce ALWAYS appears on Link's left hand.

This is also proven in Ganondorf's case by the fact that in OoT, he always gathers balls of energy with his right hand, and in TWW, when he draws his sword in Forsaken Fortress to kill Link, he usaes his right hand. Also in TWW, when he knocks Zelda out in the final battle, he does so with his right hand, and the Triforce mark ALWAYS appears on Ganondorf's right hand.

As for Zelda, in OoT, she (disguised as Sheik) plays her harp with her right hand, and in TWW, when Tetra (Zelda) jumps into the Forsaken Fortress as Ganondorf is about to kill Link, she lands and uses her right hand for support, hence why she has the Triforce on her right hand.

So this isn't really a major discovery, or something that'll prove the Wise Men's timeline, it's just something that I noticed and thought the rest of you would find interesting. It just proves that in all future games where the Triforce mark appears on the back of Link's, Zelda's and Ganondorf's hands, it'll be on whatever hand they use most.

Tell me whether you agree or disagree with this, or whether you think it's coincidence. Personally, I think it's just clever how the Triforce appears on the same hand that they use most.

Re: The Mark of the Triforce

Um... The placement of the Mark of the Triforce doesn't vary between games as much as it varies between the people who posess a piece of the Triforce. Still, it's something worth noting when you brought up those Oracle statements. If a Triforce mark appears on your hand at some point during your life and you do not posess a piece of the Triforce, then you are obviously destined to become a Hero of Hyrule.

Re: The Mark of the Triforce

I have an interesting point to add. As it is said in AoL, the Triforce mark will appear on the hand of the Hero when he reaches the age necessary to be the Hero. This age is about 16.

In OoT, Link was too young to be the Hero of Time, so he was put to sleep until he reached adulthood. Link became the Hero of Time as an adult and we first see the Triforce mark on his hand as an adult.

In TWW, Link was not announced to be the Hero of Winds until he gained the Triforce mark from the Gods. In Oracles, Link can be seen to be looking like a teenager and he has the Triforce mark.

Although there is no 100% consistent appearance of the Triforce mark, we can establish one main principle: the Triforce mark appears as chosen by Destiny; by the Gods. The age of Link in some cases is necessary for Link to be announced by destiny as the Hero.

Good point; but if what you said is right... that mean that Link in TP to the Wii will have the Triforce mark on the right hand, right? since he will be right-handed on the Wii version.

I know.that if the mark appears on one's hand, it means they are destined to become a hero.

Most probably, since the entire game was mirrored for the Wii.

Not exactly ground-breaking research, is it? I mean, we know all this already.

So Ganondorf didn't take the Triforce until Link was an adult?

Only one part will remain for the one who touched the Triforce...the part representing the force that one most believes in.
If that one seeks the True Force, that one must acquire the two lost parts.
Those two parts will be held within others chosen by destiny, who will bear the Triforce mark on the backs of their hands.

This thread was never meant to be ground-breaking research, it was just to say that the Triforce mark will appear on either one's left or right hand, depending on whether they are left or right handed.

And I don't think that "we know all this alreadY", since I've never heard this before. [SARCASM]So nice to see how positive people are[/SARCASM]

I never said that. I was saying that the Triforce mark coincides with him being announced as the Hero, which coincides with TWW, AoL, Oracles.

But it isn't interesting. Only slightly amusing.

I don't see how this is amusing. And why don't you find this interesting? I think it's interesting that the Triforce rests in the hand you use most often.

It isn't interesting because I knew that already, and amusing because everyone is making a big deal over it.

I don't care if you knew this already, I made this thread to point it out to people who didn't know. And it was not my intent for people to make a big deal about it, and so far, no one has made a big deal over it.
