Deku Tree's Death

Saw this here. I don't really agree with it but I thought it would be interesting to see what others here think.

I don't think it's likely because as we can see in OoT a new Deku Tree replaces the old one, but I guess because LoZ is on the timeline where Link fails in OoT so maybe Ganon prevented it from being reborn?

Re: Deku Tree's Death

I don't think it is either, for the reasons you mentioned and also because Deku Tree wasn't on an island. But, geography doesn't always matter in Zelda games.

Nevertheless, I think it is a Deku Tree, just not the same one from OoT.

Re: Deku Tree's Death

Its a possible thing, but if I do remember there is 2 dead trees; a brown one (that could represent the Deku Tree), and then there is a green one (one that is exactly the the brown one, but just green)

If I think about it, there could be a good possibility that the could relate to each other, or just be a different generation on a "Deku Tree", but it all varies from the timeline, which you two have explained

Re: Deku Tree's Death

I doubt it. Its not like every old, decayed tree is a Deku tree. I'm sure its just a regular tree.

Re: Deku Tree's Death

If that's The Great Deku Tree, does that mean the surrounding trees are murdered/otherwise failed Deku sprouts? Ouch.

If you look closely, the tree from LoZ has 2 eyes.

Yeah, that's what leads me to think it could be a Deku Tree as opposed to just being a normal tree. Of course, oZ was created long before OoT, but I still think it's a Deku Tree, but they just didn't have a name for it yet.

I knew someone was going to say that... but anyways, Hyrule wasn't flooded on this timeline.

Re: Deku Tree's Death

I know, but the geography of Hyrule changes all the time. If the Deku Tree was in a position to be put on in island on that timeline then when a shift of the water happened on this timeline it was in the perfect condition to create an island.

Or in an attempt to cut the Deku Tree off Ganon forced it to become an island?

Re: Deku Tree's Death

I don't know... I mean, really, it's a cool theory, but the main thing preventing this theory from being true is the fact that the game never said it was a Deku Tree... and that's because LoZ was created over a decade before OoT.

Exactly.

And what about the Gnarled Root dungeon?

By the logic presented, the Gnarled Root Dungeon must be a dead Maku Tree.

If they said in the game that it was the Deku Tree then there would be no point of a theory then, would there?

Re: Deku Tree's Death

Why do dead tress in Hyrule always have to be the dead remains of tree-shaped spirit? Why can't they just be normal dead trees?

my main point was that it's a nice bit of speculation that I wish were true.

Because the theorizing section is boring nowadays. We need something to overanalyze and blow out of proportion to keep things going.

Because almost all dead trees in Hyrule have eyes. Also like TurkeyMCbean said were low on mysteries si we nust find strange things in the game to theorize about.

Without the timeline to argue over what else are we supposed to do?

The timeline never interested me very much to be honest.
