So, everybody in Skyloft only had one child? What is this, China?

Lol... I guess. I think the only people that had more than one child were Orielle and Parrow's parents. They were executed by the overlords shortly after. That's why we don't see them.

Actually it's japan. Actually we don't see any of the parent except Gaepora, pipit's mom, piper and the one of the blacksmith.

Well, there's also Pipit's mother, Peatrice's father Peater, Kukiel's parents, the potion shop couple has a baby, too. I think one of the men in the Bazaar say that his child is a knight. And Gondo lives with his mother.

I think I'm just gonna stick with my overlord theory for now.

Re: Skyloft's graves

IRL, countries with insufficient graveyard space tend to go for cremation, usually. The Skyloftians don't really have the space to waste for graveyards.

Just kidding, but seriously... It's not such a good idea to visit a theorizing thread on Skyward Sword if you haven't finished the game. What you consider major spoilers is just considered small talk here

Back on topic, though... I was thinking that perhaps those nine graves in the cemetery were just the first nine people to die in Skyloft. After that, they were like "Oh crap, we ran out of space", and just decided to dump 'em in the clouds.

I have yet to see a videogame with entire cities/towns/villages with appropriate population size, except for those set entirely within said city.

Hey guys, do the graves have any Hylian text/font on them? If so it'd be cool to see what's written on the graves.

I don't think so and if they had something written on them it will be you can read me like almost every sign in SS. The only grave like that is the sheikah one.

Re: Skyloft's graves

This is nit picking a bit. The lack of graves adds very little in terms of story and to be honest, this isn't theorizing, this is just noticing that the developers didn't want to waste time making hundreds or thousands of graves for virtual character whom serve no importance to the story. This is more likely a thread to increase your post count or something. And God knows what DekuLink's doing on this thread, so far he hasn't contributed anything noteworthy to this thread yet he's posted at least 7 times with one-liners.

This thread is ridiculous, you may as well be asking "How does Skyloft float in the air?" or "Where does the water for the waterfall come from?". Suspend you imagination for a bit! It's a video game for Christ's sake! For the sake of it though, let's just say the marked graves are those of people of significant importance to Skyloft and it's history, the other bodies are buried in unmarked graves.

Skyloft floats in the sky because of Hylia's magic.

Re: Skyloft's graves

Wow! People over-think a lot of things in the theorizing section. It's a nintendo game for kids. Things are set on a small scale. Skyloft is small, where's room for so many graves? If the devs are too lazy to make a proper overworld, what makes you think they are going to have a realistic-sized skyloft with the right amount of people and graves?

How I see a game like this is an interpretation of a fantasy land. There's the people, the graves, the buildings. The actual Skyloft would be much bigger, have way more people, more graves, etc. The wii couldn't handle the full Skyloft. Same with any Zelda game. Things couldn't exist as they are. It's dumbed down.

No one eats anything in OoT. How do they live? Where are the bathrooms in any game, save for MM and SS?

This isn't Elder Scrolls. Those games have sources of food, lots of people, etc. Zelda isn't quite that realistic.

Re: Skyloft's graves

I think a lot of them prefer to be cremated.

You know, sprinkling one's ashes into the sky seems like the most logical thing to do in Skyloft. It could be a way of connecting closer with the gods than just burying the body on Skyloft.

Re: Skyloft's graves

Guys, I got this Hylians (in skyloft) have Sky-burials

The locations of preparation and sky burial are understood in the Vajrayana traditions as charnel grounds. In Tibet the practice is known as jhator (Tibetan: བྱ་གཏོར་, Wylie: bya gtor), which means "giving alms to the birds."[1]

The majority of Tibetans adhere to Buddhism, which teaches rebirth. There is no need to preserve the body, as it is now an empty vessel. Birds may eat it, or nature may let it decompose. So the function of the sky burial is simply to dispose of the remains. In much of Tibet, the ground is too hard and rocky to dig a grave, and, due to the scarcity of fuel and timber, sky burials are often more practical than cremation. High lamas and some other dignitaries may receive burials so as to honor them in death, but sky burials were standard practice for commoners.[2]
That would also explain the small amount of graves as only those of importance would be buried and there isn't lumber for cremation.
