No, I appreciate the comment. And thanks. |
Instead of
LoZ I could have said THF, or The Hyrule Fantasy, which is the Famicom name for the initial
LoZ game release. Or Zelda 1. Which, when it came out, and when I first played it, it was not Zelda 1, it was just Zelda. And it still rocks.
Anyway, I don't see the original Death Mountain Area (
LoZ overworld) depicted in your map, and instead I see Holodrum appearing where Zelda 1's map should be. But I could be misinterpreting your map.
I understand why you put 'Termina' on your map, I was just doubting that the corresponding geography would be that close to mainland Hyrule. If that were the case, then why bother with an alternate reality. Or magic warps. (yes, TWotOK seems to be an alternate flooded version of
AoL's map, and the light and dark worlds from
ALttP and
FSA mirror each other, but there's also theTR and Koholint, which appearantly do not mirror any specific lands). A unified Hyrule map is complicated enough without adding strange things like a pseudo Termina into the mix.
As someone else posted, Holodrum and Labrynna are supposedly far away, and Link is seen using a boat to leave at the end of OoX, but I still say that OoX doesn't actually count as the journey of enlightenment that Link was returning from in
LA. I would say the journey starts after OoX and continues in some other far off land, and then we see him returning from THAT land in
LA. Thus OoX could take place in somewhat nearby foreign kingdoms so Zelda and Impa can use no magical means to visit them.
Edit: oh, I see where
LoZ takes place, the area near the green stuff east of Eldin with the eyeglass lake. Perhaps if you had called this area the 'Little Kingdom' I would have picked up on it. But then we might have the debate whether
LoZ depicts the little kingdom within the land of Hyrule, or if the kingdom was elsewhere, and Zelda just happened to hide the ToW in some dungeons outside of the kingdom. Either way it's unclear what constitutes the actual extant kingdom in
LoZ/
AoL. Obviously the kingdom at the time of the Great TF using King covered a vast area and may have included everything on this map,and more.
Another edit: some folks put Holodrum and Labrynna as subsets of the
AoL map, meaning they were conquered in the great king's time following
ALttP/OoX/
LA.

In any event, where did you place the Master Sword? That is an important aspect to making a map since its the same spot throughout the series. |
ToT ruins from
TP and Sealed Temple are separate but in the same area according to the map. That runs counter to the assertion from HH that states the MS always returns to the same pedestal throughout history.
That reminds me, where do those scabbards come from each time Link pulls the MS? Any old scabbard just won't do, especially one that is designed to carry a lesser sword than the Sword of Evil's Bane. Of course most games just seem to magically provide Link with the necessary scabbard, yet require Link to gain or upgrade every other piece of equipment or bag/bottle/container.
