The new Zelda games and their placement in the timelines.

So two new Zelda games are confirmed for 3DS and Wii U
No information is available on them but I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were for their placement in the timeline? I expect the 3DS one will probably be in the Adult Era and the Wii U in the Child Era. How do you think they might effect the timelines?

Thought it was rumor.

Well... it's likely. And it's safe to say that there will be a new Zelda on each of those consoles.

As for the timeline, I don't really care. As long as the game doesn't go downhill, then I'm happy.

Re: The new Zelda games and their placement in the timelines.

I agree. If they just think on gameplay first, and then make a story around the game. They really should stop focusing on story, and set gameplay first. If you look at the timeline, you can see that the most of the games don’t have any story in common. It just fits together after each other. So if the just make a game, and then places it where it could fit the most, it may be good xD

It was confirmed by Miyamoto that they were producing a Zelda game for 3DS and Wii U.

I only hope that nintendo does what it always does and saves the timeline bit for last instead of focusing on the storyline

There's no way to even predict the timeline placements at this point in time. The only info we have about the 3DS game is that it's in development, and the only info we have about the Wii U game is that it's likely.

Who knows where in the timeline these two games will fit. I don't really care; all I want is a new, great game.

Aonuma has said that the 3DS Zelda is not a continuation of the DS Zeldas, but how the Downfall side is manage, it would be no neat to put more games there, some lets speculate.

I dont think we will be able to make any predictions in the placement of the (Possible) new zelda titles until more info is released.

While this is a fairly safe statement to make, lack of evidence or information has never stopped people from making predictions, theories, or simple guesses. I believe what you wanted to say was that we will not be able to make accurate predictions until further info is available.

That said, I would like to see a game that takes place following FSA, and one between MM and TP. I don't think either will happen right away. We are most likely to see something after ST in new Hyrule or a pseudo sequel to SS. We will probably never see another game after AoL.

Re: The new Zelda games and their placement in the timelines.

I have a feeling that the 3DS title will be a Four Sword game taking place over one hundred years or so after Four Swords Adventures in the Child Timeline and that the Wii U title will fall somewhere in the Decline Timeline.

3DS FS would be awesome, even more so with the ability to play with/against others from all over the world. Local wifi FS would be ok, but not as fun. It would be neat if the next FS game is the backstory to FS, set between TMC and FS in the 'pre split' era. A FS game without Vaati would seem kinda fake.
