The Official Timeline is Here!

Because it deserved it's own thread.

Here it is:
This Might Actually Be The Official Zelda Timeline

So:

Skyward Sword - Minish Cap - Four Swords - Ocarina of Time

Then it splits into three timelines. One where the Hero of Time wins and is sent back in time from, one where he is sent back to, and one where he fails which explains the seal war.

Wins (One where he's sent back from):
The Wind Waker - Phantom Hourglass - Spirit Tracks

Wins (One where he's sent back to):
Majora's Mask - Twilight Princess - Four Swords Adventures

Fails:
A Link to the Past - Oracle Series - Link's Awakening -
The Legend of Zelda - Adventure of Link

So ya what do you think?

Only thing I don't understand is Link failing. What exactly does he fail in and how would it work without contradicting the events of OoT?

I think it's in the Final Battle with Ganon after Link gets the Sages.
Due to the fact that the towns in Zelda 2 are named after them.

Until I see scans, I say the kid is bluffing.

EDIT: Or trolling. Either way, I still don't see how he couldn't even upload even a picture of the book.

Not all people know the secret art of scanning...

At least I don't.

Re: The Official Timeline is Here!

Remember that scene in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory where the guy claimed he had the last ticket and it was spread everywhere, but it turned out he didn't...?

Yeah...

Like I said, I will see scans before I believe Kotaku's article.

What exactly do you mean by Ganon getting the sages?

The image on Kotaku isn't from the book??

Re: The Official Timeline is Here!

i suppose you could interpret it as link failing his original mission from the Deku Tree to keep the triforce away from Ganondorf. But that still leaves questions as to how that segues into ALttP. Perhaps some more detailed translations will elaborate a bit more on this.

As for the timline itself, i think it makes perfect sense (providing it is indeed legitimate and not just someone taking advantage of the moment) I had been working on a three way timeline shortly before I stopped hanging around here, and this is pretty close to what I was thinking. I just don't like where the four swords games are being placed. I always felt that they made more sense placed between ALttP and LOZ since it provided the perfect explanation for Ganon's return. But on the bright side, this does allow for Vaati to make a return on the other two timelines. I don't think he was ever developed very well as a villain, so i would very much like to see him again.
EDIT: also there is a photo of the book itself in the original source, but that doesn't exactly prove anything yet.

Re: The Official Timeline is Here!

I refuse to believe he was killed by Ganon if he's the chosen hero. The only explanation I could come up with is if he and Zelda got their triforce pieces taken from them (like they did in WW), but somehow was able to still seal him away. Perhaps Link lured Ganon into the Sacred Realm, made an escape, and with the help of the Sages, sealed him inside.

I don't see where you can point and say, "at this point, Link failed."

(S)he technically does have a picture of the book - just no scans, unfortunately.

But that didn't happen. We haven't seen it happen, and there is no evidence to support the idea that he "failed". I'm calling BS on this timeline until some real scans come to the surface.

no scans = no scans
Until legit scans are released, this timeline cannot be confirmed. Also can't trust photos because they could be photoshopped.

Scans can be Photoshopped as well.

I'm still a bit sceptical about it though, simply due to that three way split, and the explanation given for it. If you're splitting it after one game due to 'Link failing', there really needs to be a split after EVERY game, as every time there was the potential to fail.

Re: The Official Timeline is Here!

Know what else makes me so skeptical about this kid's unveiling of the order (but no scans)?

That kid's picture of the book:

1) It doesn't look as thick as many pages it says it has

2) Its roughly $40. Are you sure its that small? (And I heard its a girl in Korea... soooo ya. its as big as her hand...)

I was thinking that too.
There's two split timelines, not a "Fail" one. And that "fail" splittimeline doesnt make sense, how Link "failed" to defeat Ganon? When Link fails to defeat ganon I get a Gameover screen, not a fail stuff (only if at the end of OoT there was something like in StarFox DS)

EDIT:

btw, I liked the way Minish Cap fits after SS, it makes sense for me.

Re: The Official Timeline is Here!

I was thinking the idea for the third split is that without Link being introduced again in the future, the events of LttP would occur by default. But just like how Link showing up on the CT changed history, Link showing up on the AT does as well.

Do you mean that Link pulls MS, Ganondorf gets in SR, but Link doesn't show up in future? Or do you mean more of a Predestined theory approach?
