How many Zelda games are there?

I noticed a debate in another thread over whether some of the more obscure Zelda games should be included in the timeline. I've started this thread so that we can attempt to agree on exactly which games should feature in a Zelda timeline.

These are the games that feature in my own timeline:

LoZ
AoL
LttP
LA
OoT
MM
OoX
WW
FS
FSA
MC
PH
TP
ST

These are the games that I know of that I deliberately don't include:

Zelda Game & Watch (because it doesn't have a story)
Link: The Faces of Evil (because it should never have been made)
Link: The Wand of Gamelon (ditto)
Zelda's Adventure (ditto)
Ocarina of Time: Master Quest (because it is a remake of OoT)
Link's Crossbow Training (I suppose this can go after TP, but it doesn't seem to add anything to the history of Hyrule)

Do you disagree with any of these exclusions? If so, please explain why.

Do you know of any other Zelda games that you think ought to be included on the timeline? If so, please give details, including the unabbreviated name of the game.

Okay, sure, somebody change the title of the thread.

I haven't played Rupeeland, but I'm tempted to include it since it features both Tingle and the Deku Tree. If it's the origin of Tingle, then it would have to come first in the timeline.

Huh

No, it seems to pretty well imply it takes place around WW.

Yes these are the canon games.

Game and Watch is non-canon, Nintendo didn't even make the next three, OOT MQ is basically the same game story wise

Crossbow training is like AST, they could be canon but I have never heard and statements saying they are. Really there are only fifteen(soon to be sixteen) Zelda games that are counted as canon and you listed all of them.

Care to explain? I was under the impression that Tingle becomes Tingle in Rupeeland, which means the game has to come before any game that features tingle: MC, MM and WW.

AST = Ancient Stone Tablets, right? I guess whether that's canon or not it won't affect your timeline.

If you played the game or looked up some info you would know that it says a Tingle is not a person but a state of mind, therefore there can be many Tingles without them being the same person

It's never said that the Hero is from our world, but it's sort of implied. Still though, it DOES give an explicit reason for how Ganon keeps coming back.

Ancient Stone Tablets
It was once on a list of Zelda games that Nintendo published but when another iteration came out several years later the game was removed. I think they pretty much disowned it from canon once they realized how stupid it would be to have travel between Earth and Hyrule be possible.

Re: How many Zelda games are there?

My advice :
Consider the games you want and forget the word "canon".

...It's been mentioned in this thread. No need.
Don't forget to include the next game, Skyward Sword; it's been stated to be the first in the timeline.

ITT: people call good games abominations without playing them just because they don't like the main character.
