Octoroks in TP

Remember how everyone was crying because there had always been octoroks in every Zelda game up until Twilight Princess? It seems that we might have been wrong...

I'm sure you remember these guys...


They're called MINI FREEZARDS. They slide around like curling stones when you hit them with your sword.

In Spirit Tracks, there are identical enemies called FREEZARDS. They act exactly how they did in TP.

Anyways, I was just playing ST, when I melted the ice off of one of them with fire, and an octorok was revealed to be inside of it!

Here is my logic...
Mini-freezard (TP) = Freezard (ST) = OCTOROK

Discuss.

This, while a small piece of news that you'd think wouldn't matter, actually made me really happy when I first heard it. Now if only they could make some excuse for the lack of moblins, everything would be perfect.

Funny, I remember mentioning this several times already, likely in threads you participated in.

Yes, octoroks are actually moblins cut up into little pieces.

Makes sense, I guess. But if Nintendo wanted an octorock to be in a block of ice, wouldn't they show a bit of red or something? I mean beneath the ice?

Weren't Octoroks the purple things that live in water and shoot pellets at you? I didn't think the mini-freezards, in TP or ST, were anything like that...

Upon doing some research I only ever mentioned it twice and you weren't there.

Sorry for the accusation, I've been awake for over 24 hours and I'm getting irritable.

They're also the red things that live on land and shoot pellets at you.

Octoroks are different colors in different games. In Oot and MM, they were purple. In just about every other game, they were red (including ST).

I don't have TP anymore, can someone post a picture?

Ah, I see. I never realized those were the same creature.

Exactly. OoT is the first Zelda in which the Octorocks are water-based, if I recall correctly.

Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo deliberaltly did that in ST just to satisfy the fans who were angry of the lack of Octorocks in TP. Either that or they just realized they screwed up in TP and needed to make an excuse quickly. I was so pissed that TP essentially ruined the Octorock tradition when it first came out. Although I think the Stalfos hold the In-Every-Game award as well.

No, there were land Octoroks in the beta, but then when the realized it was weird that the princess of an evil race turned out to be a sage and made a good race of Zoras, they needed a replacement (OoA is the only game to have both races of Zoras), so they changed the Octoroks to water enemies.

@Triforce: Yeah, I know they had land octoroks in the beta, but since they wanted to introduce Deku Scrubs (who worked pretty much the same) I figured that's why they took em out. It didn't necessarily have to do with the zoras. But, anyway, I guess we may never know for sure what their exact reasoning was.

No, Aonuma stated himself in a magazine interview recently that it was cause of the Zora thing I stated above.

Also, I think I remember seeing water-born Octoroks in some of the earlier commercials that they cut...if I remember correctly they show Link doing the Shield Punch learned move thing on a pellet and killing the octorok.

Oh yeah...

Still don't know if they count though. WW seems to only consider the Octoroks worth mentioning for that award.

Oh, and I was referring to Skull Keeta, but the king and his lackeys work too. I dunno, I would count Stalchildren and stuff too.
