Force Gems in Spirit Tracks

In the Spirit Tracks trailer we see what looks like a Phantom Hourglass force gem but silver (after Link kills the Twinrovbat). People are speculating about seeing more connections to other games in this. Does anyone have any theories as to what these gems will be used for?

I expect they'll go some way to resoring the Triforce in New hyrule, restoring it to the public eye. We haven't had a game mention the Triforce sice tWW.

I think they are the so-called Tears of Light you need to gather in order to empower your sword and knockout Phantons...

That's correct ahaha. The same could be said about those golden "Force Gems" that were littered about the room in many of the Ocean King's Temple. When the first pics appeared on the net, we thought those were Force Gems as well, however we were wrong. Speaking of Force Gems, they did introduce them in PH in the wifi battles (but those aren't cannon to the game series). Since ST has yet to be announced to have any wifi capabilities (all they had to do was send out Box Art that didn't display that Wifi symbol) I truely hope that means we'll get more out of this game (like maybe a DSi exclusive "take a picture with a Zelda character")

And on the topics on gems, PH had what were called Spirit Gems. Since this upcoming game is called "Spirit Tracks", I was just thinking if the Spirit Gems would make a delightful return. Sure they made the game a little easier, but I just loved the flaming sword affect.

No, we were right; they were called "Force Gems".

They were? Hmm for some reason I thought they were named something different.

For all intent and purposes, then there may very well be Force Gems & Tears of Light in ST. In PH it was a challenge because you had to use espionage throughout the levels to dodge the Phantoms and race against time. In ST it seems like time will no longer be a factor, however Zelda can only control 1 phantom at a time, so I'm expecting to see others in the game that could give fatal blows to Link (unless Phantom Zelda blocks it's attack).

Re: Force Gems in Spirit Tracks

I would reckon that, like how the Force Gems in PH were the life force of the Ocean King, and could destroy the Phantoms when combined with the sacred sword, the Tears of Light are the life force of the "spirits" of this new Hyrule, and can stun the Phantoms in this game.

I'm not sure that "fatal blow" is really necessary - but we can be sure they'll deal a fair amount of damage.

Re: Force Gems in Spirit Tracks

I think the force gems will restore parts of the spirit tracks, because the train tracks we see have silver triangles on them, so after you get the silver force gem you restore the silver tracks, then the green ones, then the yellow ones etc. etc. makes sense

Oh, and there ARE actual force gems in the actual game of PH, there are three yellow force gems in the Temple of the Ocean King.

Re: Force Gems in Spirit Tracks

About the tears of light:
Quote:
ST official site:
Link's old foes, the Phantoms, are back in force, but this time Link has a secret weapon - Zelda's spirit! If Link collects three Tears of Light in certain dungeons, he can attack Phantoms from behind and stun them. This gives Zelda's spirit just enough time to enter the Phantom and take control of the clanking combatant.
Link empowered his sword with the tears of light and then he can attack phantoms from behind and stun them.

About the force gems, i think you need the force gems to restore the spirit tracks.

Re: Force Gems in Spirit Tracks

Hmm I was just thinking. If tMC was supposed to explain why Link wears the hat (and tWW explains why it's tradition for boys to wear green garb...however I never see others wear it), then maybe this game would finally explain the "Eagle and Triangle" on the Hylian Shield. I mean, the Lokomo have it on their carts, and on their beloved Spirit Train (which they give to Link), and I believe it's also on Phantom Zelda's shield.

Re: Force Gems in Spirit Tracks

The eagle and triangles on the hylian shield is the royal family emblem.
To me the eagle holding the triforce represent the royal family protecting the triforce.
The lokomo symbol is just a variation of the royal family symbol, maybe the single triangle above the eagle is the light force/golden force gem.

You actually use the spirit pipes to restore the spirit tracks.

Young Old Man, you are wrong on that one. You use Star Rods to magically fix the Spirit Tracks, but I heard it takes a long time to search for the Star Rods.

NO- DON'T BE SPAMMING UP THE THREAD- GANONTRAIN WILL INFRACT US.

And in Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time there are 'star pieces'. Do you think they are linked to the rod and pieces of the Triforce?

Re: Force Gems in Spirit Tracks

Ganontrain is not on rails right now we are safe for a bit River.

I don't think the "Tears of Light" are related to force gems as there are no silver force gems.

Re: Force Gems in Spirit Tracks

But the force gems ARE silver.

The tears of light aren't the silver triangles- they're the golden tears (funnily enough).

Re: Force Gems in Spirit Tracks

I am talking about the ones in game those are gold. Also, PH Glass Force Gems are made of the same sand in the hourglass.
I thought the Tears of Light was the Silver Triangles... Is there a pic of the golden tears?
