Re: Which Timeline do you prefer?
Based on what I know...
AT: OoT --->WW/PH--->ST CT: MM ---->TP/LCT CT for sure. TP is on it. The 2nd best Zelda to date. You all argue it didn't meet your standards, but overall, it is a better game.

What do you mean "overall"? Below average in every respect but technical sophistication and controls.

Re: Which Timeline do you prefer?
I don't really see how this is relevant to theorizing... but...
This is really hard. I love MM SO much, but OoT and TWW are really good, and ST is looking really good, too. TP was meh, but I'm gonna have to go with CT having my favorite games just because of MM's presence there.

Re: Which Timeline do you prefer?
Obviously an N64 game can't have graphics as technically impressive. But you know what Ocarina of Time had? Colors. Art direction that looked good, in spite of the low polygon count.
"Gameplay" is such a vague term. Do you mean level design? Combat? Everything better about TP's gameplay was a result of better controls. And difficulty? What? TP was easier but more complicated. That's the opposite of good difficulty, which is hard but simple. |

Re: Which Timeline do you prefer?
TP... better difficulty? Are you serious? I mean, yeah, OoT was really easy, but I died while playing OoT. I killed myself on my second playthrough of TP so I could actually see what the game over screen looked like.
And I'd say TP didn't have better gameplay. You couldn't side-jump spam to go faster, or walk backwards to go faster. You had to resort to rolling, which was slower than side-jumping. And climbing vines is a pain in the ass. It's like the difference between SSBM and SSBB. SSBM had a lot of techs you could do to improve your game (L-cancelling and wavedashing were essential) and make the game faster. Whereas SSBB had better graphics but was waaaaaaaaaay slower. And got rid of most of the important techs (L-cancelling, wavedashing, etc were out. Sure a few characters are fairly technical (well only Ice Climbers, really, and only because you have to be able to pivot desynch EVERY time, and 0-death EVERY time. They're like just as hard to play as the average Melee character (but not even close to SSBM Fox, Falco, or Melee ICs))). And then stupid stuff was added (like stupid tripping). TP was slower feeling overall gameplay-wise than OoT (SSBB was hella slow compared to SSBM), imo. And even easier than OoT (SSBB is way easier to play than SSBM). Oh and it takes too ****ing long to climb some vines in TP. Seriously what was the point in that stupid ass change? Sure it might seem minor, but my first thought when I first climbed some vines in TP was, "What the hell? Why does he take so damn long to climb these vines? It worked just fine the way it worked in OoT and MM". I mean if they're going to make an OoT (well more accurately an LttP clones...) clone, then why do the change the exact WRONG thing? Vines worked just fine in OoT and weren't annoying as hell to climb. It takes like 30 freaken seconds to climb some freaken vines whereas it'd only take a few seconds in OoT. And then they had the forest temple with vines EVERYWHERE. If you couldn't tell, I dislike TP vines. They're stupid and take too long. Stupid changes like making walking backwards slower in TP, making vines take way too damn long to climb, making your sidestep not NEARLY as fast just make playing TP a pain. TP had ok music, but OoT's was still better, imo, and MM's and TWW's music was WAY better than both. And then the stupid ass tears of light quests. The first time around it's not bad, but jesus I can't stand playing the beginning of that game again because the beginning is SO FREAKEN DULL. And then there are those GOD DAMN VINES. WHY DO YOU HAVE TO MOVE EACH FREAKEN LIMB INDIVIDUALLY TO TAKE A FREAKEN STEP UP A VINE WHEN OOT LINK COULD DO IT SO MUCH FREAKEN FASTER? It's like tripping in Brawl... except a little less facepalm-inducing. Did I mention how much I hate those vines in TP? *takes a deep breath and tries to forget about the annoying ass vines* Now, though, I must say I did like a few things about the game. The spinner was pretty cool, and original. I liked the sky temple. The bosses were cool looking (even though they were so freaken easy that you could do most of them without getting hurt on your first freaken try. I didn't like TP.

Re: Which Timeline do you prefer?
That's nice, but it doesn't exist.
I accidentally chose the Adult Timeline somehow, but my favorite game is MM thus far. Just for that I should have chosen the Child Timeline, but TWW and OoT do rank as a close second and third respectively for me.
