Will ST lead to more clarity or bias?

The way things are looking with Spirit Tracks is that the timeline will either
become more clear (a new Hyrule could place several games) or the timeline
will be up for even more interpretation than ever before (FSA and ALttP are
starting to look like they might be equally valid on both branches of the timeline).

As badly as I want to know the timeline, if it's all explained, what will happen
to theorizing? It will be the great event that kills our hobby.

On the other hand, I wouldn't put it past the developers to want to engender
more debating and interest in the timeline. I can clearly imagine Aonuma and
Miyamoto saying, "We want each fan to figure out for themself how they
want the timeline to play out. It's like a fun game!"

On a side note, I'm hyped up to explore new Hyrule, but if we've already
seen new Hyrule in MC, FS/FSA, or LoZ/AoL, then what's new? Irony much?

I hope ST Hyrule turns out to be a place we've never seen before.

Re: Will ST lead to more clarity or bias?

While I think that at first ST might look like its trying to connect particular games (maybe ST - LoZ, maybe ST - TMC, maybe ST - nothing), but ultimately, it will just make the timeline further open to interpretation. People will still have ST as the last game on the AT, people might move everything to the AT, but in the end, I'm sure theorising won't be overly affected.

Re: Will ST lead to more clarity or bias?

I'm fairly certain that ST will have about the same volume of references to 2D games that TP did, and so the community will remain split about where the games go - Adult or Child timeline. This just going by Nintendo's recent pattern of giving enough references to suggest a possibility, but never enough to actually fully define a placement.

I doubt this will solve all theory arguments, but ST might reveal the location of some games.

Re: Will ST lead to more clarity or bias?

I think the New Hyrule will be one we've never seen before. However, unless they take this opportunity to branch the series into a whole new mythology (I really hope that Demon King is a new recurring villain) I doubt the timeline will be given much more clarity.

Me too. I had hoped WW was the last we'd see or hear of Hyrule and Ganon on the AT...

I should've known Nintendo didn't have the balls to leave Hyrule and Ganon completely behind.
