Wierd ass quote in LttP that confuses me to no end

As long as that person is alive...

That, surely, is why it was placed in the sacred land, and its location passed down only among those chosen.

However, it looks as though that was interrupted somewhere...
Then, the one who again discovered the sacred land was the thief called Ganondrof.

But, thankfully, he didn't know how to return to the World of Light.
...oh yes, I remembered.

You have the Magical Mirror that only the Hero can master, don't you!

There are several more of the magic portal that was on Mount Hebra.
If you use those and go back and forth between the two worlds, you can find the monsters that lurk in the World of Darkness!

The only one who can defeat Ganondrof the thief... no, Ganon the Demon King of Darkness, is you... I am praying.
In 1991 I have absolutely NO clue how this quote worked.

Look at it this way:

In 1991 the manual implies that the SW is the first time that the SR is opened. And it's opened by the theif Ganondorf. Who then becomes Ganon by touching the Triforce, and then gets sealed.

Then the Swamp Maiden says that the theif called Ganondorf rediscovered (well again discovered is pretty much the same thing) the SR and is currently sealed, but now he is Ganon the Yami no Maou.

Anyone else see the problem here? In 1991 Ganondorf the theif both originally discovered the SR, and recently rediscovered the SR, is now Ganon (and was Ganon when he was sealed), and had to have been sealed before he redisovered the place.

How the hell can Ganondorf the theif originally discover the SR, become Ganon, get sealed, then Ganondorf the theif rediscover the SR, is now Ganon, and is now sealed?

What the **** Nintendo?

Can anyone give a logical explanation for this (for 1991. Now there are explanations, but in 1991 how did it work?)

WHOA. That really hurt my brian I also have NO idea how ganon could do that unless when he became ganon, ganondorf was split in two and then the ganondorf part was spit into the regular world agian.

Re: Wierd ass quote in LttP that confuses me to no end

I think that Ganon was just used interchangeably here for once. The Japanese manual says Ganondorf was more commonly known as "Ganon the King of Thieves" Clearly a different title then "Ganon the Demon King of Darkness" So, the manual is referring to the Ganon King of Thieves.

It doesn't make much sense but hey I tried.

Easy. Two Ganondorfs. FSA implies that there is indeed a second Ganondorf.

MetaLink, That does not explain it at all... The Ganondorf that participated in the SW is the same Ganondorf that became Ganon in ALttP.

It's the same event. Nobody knew where the entrance to the Sacred Realm was; they searched everywhere for it, from the deserts to the mountains. Ganondorf and his thieves eventually accessed the Sacred Realm and, after they all tried to kill each other out of greed, Ganondorf claimed the Triforce. He couldn't get out because the Sages put up the seal soon after that, "closing" the previously open Sacred Realm.

The Swamp Maiden says that Ganondorf rediscovered the entrance to the Sacred Realm because the people who originally knew where the entrance was forgot about it. She's not saying that he discovered it both times.

That's only a problem if you take the "no one ever found it until the thieves did" quote
to refer to all of history.

Since legends are flying before the thieves discover it, I don't think ALttP refers to anything
but the rediscovery.

Re: Wierd ass quote in LttP that confuses me to no end

That's why it makes more sense for me for LttP's backstory to be partitioned off between the "first discovery" by Ganon, which leads to the casting of the Sages' Seal (OoT), and a later "rediscovery" later in the timeline, which happens in a much closer proximity to LttP (FSA?).

The former seems to be the first time the realm was entered, with the Triforce resting comfortably in the Sacred Realm from the point of creation, and the vicious struggles over the Sacred Realm (OoT/TP backstory) as recent history. The latter has to take place later, because as has already been stated the "chosen ones" (royal family) don't know where the Sacred Realm is.

The latter may have been developed in FSA, as it's the only game besides OoT and LttP where we see Ganon interact directly with the Dark World, but it's unclear as of now.

I asked why in 1991, and even said that there ARE explanations now... I didn't ask for you to plug to your current 2009 timeline lol

Re: Wierd ass quote in LttP that confuses me to no end

He was the first to discover to Sacred Realm since the more enlightened times of antiquity - thus both discovering and rediscovering the Sacred Realm.

As for the Ganon thing, it's just the maiden correcting herself, as it were. She was talking about Ganondorf, because that's all he was at the time he found the Sacred Realm. So when she rounds off her speech she still talks about him as Ganondorf, for the sake of neatness, before correcting herself and reminding us that he is no longer human.

Re: Wierd ass quote in LttP that confuses me to no end

If we're not using any outside resources...

I'd say it means no one ever found it, but the Hylian Royal Family knew of its location, due to being the leaders of the chosen race, or whatnot. Eventually, they forgot it too....but Ganon found it.

Yeah, I know, it's weak.
But it's that or assume that Ganon discovered it twice before anyone else. Which, of course, is necessary if OoT is the Seal War, but back then, OoT didn't exist.
