The Ancestors of the Twili... Just who were they???

All right i know that i'll get a load of $h*t for posting this, but i'm curious as to who all of you think the ancestors of the twili are... I'm pretty sure that they are descended from the sheikah tribe mostly because of the symbol on the back of the helmet-like fused shadow that midna wears while she is cursed... IT'S THE SHEIKAH EYE SYMBOL... MINUS THE TEAR THAT HAS BECOME A MAJOR PART OF THEIR SYMBOL IN YEARS PAST... IT WOULD ALSO EXPLAIN WHY THE TEAR WAS PLACED THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE. Sorry forgot to turn of caps lock, but that happens w/ me... I rant... alot...

Re: The Ancestors of the Twili... Just who were they???

They also have Gerudo related symbolism.
I think they are neither Gerudo nor Sheikah, but Zuna (see FSA and Veran).

I think that Midna's final form in TP is what the interlopers looked like before they
were banished to the TR, but that's just me.

I think that originally, multiple tribes (including Sheikah and Gerudo) were all users
of dark magic, so they share symbolism.

1. Welcome to ZU.
2. The word "****" will censor itself. (See?)
3. Caps Lock almost usually always makes you sound like an idiot.
4. That's a good question. I've never really thought about it.
I'm not sure how the Timeline woudl react to this, but maybe it used to be the Sacred Realm and that's how Ganondorf and Zant met? Which doesn't explain the sages trying to put him in there.

I'm gonna shut up now before I get stuck in something I can't get out of. And before people attack me. LoL.

Some times I forget just how fast the internet really is... Oh by the way the symbol i'm talking about is not very visible... you kind of have to know its there before you can see it...

Re: The Ancestors of the Twili... Just who were they???

The Zuna are a tribe of greenish-blue skinned people/creatures that lives in an oasis in the desert beyond
the Gerudo (in FSA). Their ancestors may be responsible for the Trident in the pyramid.

New thought: If the interlopers were the Zuna, the Mirror of Twilight/Arbiter's Grounds would
be located somewhat close to their home...

Re: The Ancestors of the Twili... Just who were they???

I always felt it was either the Sheikah or the Gerudo. Gerudo mainly because of symbolism similarities, and the Sheikah mainly because of the 'shadow' thing they had going on. For all we know they could just be corrupt Hylians.

And I have a question. Why do people always go "sorry caps lock" when they type in all caps? Why don't you go back and type it in normal font? Is it that hard to take a few seconds to hit backspace and then type something again? I'm sorry but I see that a lot in forums/comments on youtube, and it really bugs me.

Re: The Ancestors of the Twili... Just who were they???

Well, Ganondorf makes certain in one of his speeches in TP that his people are not the same as the Twili, so I don't think the Gerudo are their ancestors. The Zuna would be a good guess for skin color, and the Sheikah too because of shared symbolism. The Zuna could have shared the Gerudo symbol since they both hail from the desert, so that more or less clears up that symbology mystery.

Gorons or Zoras? Eh? Not...erm...likely.

Re: The Ancestors of the Twili... Just who were they???

Unless some males were sent to the TR with the Gerudo, they wouldn't have survived to become the
Twili, even then male births are rare enough that they'd run out of men eventually

Re: The Ancestors of the Twili... Just who were they???

The japanese name for the twili is "Shadow Clan" which makes me think it was not a particular race, but a mix of races. possibly Sheikah, Hylians and Gerudo and half-kokiris.

I think he was kidding. I agree with hombre though.
A mix of several magic wielding races. Sheikah, Hylian and Gerudo would be nice because their medallions are Shadow, Light and Spirit (which is about balance as evidenced by the jin jang like symbol on the spirit medalion, Twinrovas bipolar theme, the desert being hot at day and freezing at night, and the spirit temple being both light and shadow themed).
They are also the races most adept at magic and can interbreed.

Alternativley there are the Zuna who boast quite a resemblance to the Twili, in voice, body type and skin colour. So they are an option too.
Or just all of them.

Re: The Ancestors of the Twili... Just who were they???

Thanks for refreshing my memory... I played FSA & beat it, but it's been a while... And I meant the original dark interlopers... the ones shown as shadow links in that cutscene that gives us a bit of backstory for the game...

Re: The Ancestors of the Twili... Just who were they???

The interlopers originated from a bunch of different races in the Zelda universe, including Sheikah Gerudo and possibly actuall shadows.

Re: The Ancestors of the Twili... Just who were they???

I voted Sheikah by default, but I don't think it really- I think they are humans of the same race as the Sheikah, but a different nationality or tribe.

Difference between Sheikah and 'Interlopers' being like the difference between Eskimos and Inuits, or Cherokee and Chickasaw or whatever other tribal thing you wanna use as example.

Same species and even race, but a dark version. The Zola to the Zora if you will.

This is, of course, speculation.

They could also be 'interlopers' in the sense that they betrayed the other Shiekah, but who knows.
