Gannon, Ganon

So what occurred to me recently, is, that Gannon, and Ganon, are different.

Totally different.

Incase you did not know, Ganon is the antagonist within the Zelda Series, but Gannon is the antagonist in the Original Zelda.

Let's look at my timeline for a second:

Very nice, nice indeed.

But realizing that Gannon and Ganon are different, let's look at something.

I always thought it was more likely that ALttP comes after AoL, but I couldn't say that because Ganon is dead and utterly dead. I'm wrong. Ganonn is dead, not Ganon. So, adding a quick adjustment:

.........MM--TP--LoZ--AoL--ALttP--LA

Funny, LoZ says Gannon, but the LoZ manual says Ganon

"Gannon" was a mistranslation. They fixed that in the GBA LoZ.

I appreciate the reference, but your other timeline was cleaner as it wasn't based off of a mistranslation.

You can't say there is NO Gannon. It calls it that directly in the game.

Except the game was WRONG. It was a mispelled version. Actually I'm pretty sure there is an interview with Bill Trinen or Dan Owsen about them spelling Ganon wrong in the original LoZ.

BB: That’s something that, you (Bill Trinen – Localization Team) and I have talked about with the release of the Zelda compilation disc, cleaning up some of the spellings like Ganon, and making sure everything is cohesive. Maybe that’s an American thing – us wanting to know how it all works together. I guess that leads me to my next questions. EA: The GBA Four Swords Zelda is what we’re thinking as the oldest tale in the Zelda timeline. With this one on the GameCube being a sequel to that, and taking place sometime after that.
