Oocca = Ancestors of the Hylians

Because ancestors is just as often (arguably more so) a cultural label than a genetic one. Particularly, if the Japaneesers on this site are to be believed, in Japanese it very often refers just to those who were there before.

So the word for "ancestor" in Japanese simply refers to those who where there before? Why does everything have to be so complicated?

Anyways, I would like to bring up another point...

When they created the people of Hylia, they simultaneously created a new capital, a city that floated in the heavens.

This quote implies that the Hylians were created, or born, AFTER the initial creation of life, suggesting that the Hylian race branched from some other existence other than the goddesses. The Hylians where not there at the beginning of creation. They were born simultaneously with the creation of this new capital.

Canadians came from Europe and weren't technically Canadians until Canada was established. Therefore, on July 1, 1867, the Canadians were born.

Thus:

And they, simultaneously with the birth of the Canadian people, created a new country, a country called Canada.


It's when they are established as a nation that they are called as such.

I think it is meant that the Oocca established the kingdom and society of Hyrule and then left it for the Hylians, who are either native there or from a different land, to govern themselves.

They basically gave the Hylians a "head start".

This is pretty much my belief. I explore it in this article about the Oocca pretty thoroughly.

The "ancestors" quote has caught a few people off guard, but I think it is very safe to assume that the Oocca were ancestors of the Hylian culture rather than the race itself.

Ahh, that makes a lot of sense. So we can pretty much say that the Oocca are Hyrule's version of the ancient astronaut theory in our world. Which is that aliens or "beings from the sky" jump started the modern culture of man.

i don't think the occa's were bird forms they just did that to be closer to the gods. Kind of like how the Hylians have pointed ears to hear the gods better. I'm thinking the hylians are just the descendants of pre-bird occa, and theoretically to alesser degree the humans too they just kinda distanced themselves even more from the occa's so they have less powers. Otherwise the whole creation set up in OoT with the 6 races kinda of falls apart. To say another tribe just came and built off of there culture doesn't make much sense. Where did these people come from? they aren't accounted for really.

...If that's the case, why is this considered one of Shad's theories and not fact? The Oocca are clearly a civilization that predates the Hylians.

(I'm not talking about Shad's other theory, that the Oocca were the ones who built Hyrule, not the Hylians; I'm talking about the theory that the Oocca are the ancestors of the Hylians.)
