Sheikah Disappearance

I was looking at a Japanese translation of the A Link to the Past manual and found some interesting information. Here, I am going to talk about how the Sheikah could have disappeared. Please take note of the fact that the following information takes place in the backstory of A Link to the Past, but before the Seal War, so there is no need for any Seal War debates.

This is talking about the search for the Golden Power and the Sacred Realm. Desperate for the ultimate power, people began killing others to obtain information about the Triforce. In OoT, we find out that the Sheikah know a lot about the Triforce and we are also told that they are very few in numbers.

From this information, I conclude that the Sheikah, having extensive knowledge of the Triforce and the Sacred Realm, were killed for that information, thus rendering them at risk of extinction by the time of OoT.

Thoughts? Concerns? Discuss.

The people in that time had to have definitely known that someone knew where the sacred realm was. And the person, or group of people who knew would have likely taken advantage of their knowledge and suddenly rise up in attempt to gain the Triforce.
Maybe as a defence against their oppression and slaughter, the interlopers, with their knowledge of the Triforce's whereabouts, went ahead and tried to get it themselves. Whether or not the Sheikah have any relation to the interlopers... I dunno.

That is most likely as it was at that time that people were searching for the Triforce. The Seal War didn't happen until a while after that.

I think it's possible that the Interlopers were the ones who killed off the Sheikah among other people for information about the Triforce and the Sacred Realm. When they gained enough knowledge, they used that knowledge to try to establish dominion over the Sacred Realm.

Nice theory, Beemnorv. I just have two questions:

1) Who are "the people?" Are they just Hylians? Or are they Hylians, humans, Zoras, Dukus, Gorons, ect, hinting that all the races of Hyrule are searching for the Triforce?

2) If "the people" is the second of the two, why didn't the Gerudos just nab the Triforce for themselves if they had reliable information on it anyway?

"The people" could be anybody, but personally (thanks to MrBaconsock who caused me to realize this), I like to think of them as being the Interlopers.

The Gerudo didn't know anything about the Triforce. The Sheikah did.

The Sheikah didn't take the Triforce because they knew what would happen if they tried. It would split and the separate pieces would go to whoever believed the most in their respective quality (power, courage, or wisdom). This would end up being nothing but trouble. The Sheikah seem to be the ones who would protect the Triforce and all its information because of this.

Anyways, that's it. Nice little theory.

It's okay. It caused me to explain why the Sheikah didn't take the Triforce.

So the Interlopers, in the end, become the ones who successfully deprive the information from the sheikah by force.

Yeah, sort of. They might not be the only ones to get that information, but they do seem to be the only ones who could use it properly.

Hum... So maybe all that torture apparatus in Kakariko was not used by the sheikah, but to take info from them?

As for the Sheikah going extinct, I don't think this ever truly happened. While they are few in numbers, I believe we just never see all of them. How else would a Sheikah named Impaz survive all the way to TP if there were no more Sheikah around the time of OoT?

Sparty, read it again. I said that the Sheikah were killed off enough so that they were at risk of extinction. My point is that at least some of them were killed.

very interesting, so you think that the interlopers tortured the sheikah in the Shadow Temple? or the other way around?

I actually never said anything about the Shadow Temple, but I think that it was just used by the Sheikah to punish any opposers/enemies, like Bongo-Bongo and such.

Beem, I also don't believe there were ever that many Sheikah anyway.

yeah I think maybe there were like, uhh 20-30 sheikah's

Wait, are you talking about before the mass killing or during/after OoT?

Beemnorv, while this theory makes a lot of sense, what do you make of the similarities between the Shiekah and the Twili, such as the similar insignias and similar tribe names?
