Re: ALttP and the Oracles
Could it be "honorable grandfather"? i.e. both?

Re: ALttP and the Oracles
That's sort of what I meant. The word "yéye" is what I would call my own grandfather while my friend, or anyone else, would call him the same thing. It has a double-meaning, although, there is a specific term for "grandfather", but that is used less often.

Re: ALttP and the Oracles
No, I'm pretty sure that's exactly how you use the respectful term. Also, I do believe that the word is the same in Chinese and Japanese.

Re: ALttP and the Oracles
If he means "old respected dude" it could still apply to his own grandfather.
If he is not saying the literal equivalent of "my parent's father", he could still use that respectful term to apply to his own grandfather. Just 'cause he doesn't say "grandfather" doesn't mean that he's not his grandfather... Not that it matters anyway...

Re: ALttP and the Oracles
He could be his grandson, but nothing is implied there.

Re: ALttP and the Oracles
Given their bizarre gender thing i wouldn't consider them to be the same species as hylians. Close cousins maybe but not just a seperate race. Anyway doesn't some of the official art depict the MC people as having round ears?
