AoL line

AoL says that the scroll and crystals were 'set aside for a time a great king will
come'. I've often wondered if AoL Link will be that 'great king' or if one of
the Royal Family will be born with balance, so the Royal Family can once
more make use of the Triforce...

I doubt it's Link in that none of them has ever had any political operations in the games really and Link is not even legitmate to be a King anyway, I think its a storyline attempt to make it seem like a darker time in contrast to a more golden past of better rulers, Especially as the last stated Hyrule King in the AOL era was a cruel tyrant.

I'd like to say it would b Gustaf, but I don't really think that works.

I would say the problem with a prexisting King such as Minish Cap's Gustuf is it claims he will be a great King, and Hyrule in AOL is at its greatest level and has evolved into a actual country nation state, instead of a factionalised village state, A Great King wouldnt let Hyrule shrivel up into that, that would be if anything the worst King who almost signs a countries death warrent.

With a lack of any further clarification on the subject, I think we can conclude this to be the case.

1) The last "great king" mentioned in the manual used the Triforce, and Link gained control of the Triforce in the ending

2) The crystals were meant for the person to receive the crest; in other words, for Link

Hyrule in AOL is at its greatest level

Hyrule in AoL is in a time of "great need" according to the classic series rerelease of AoL. This is presumably why awakening the sleeping princess is of such great importance - although the game never really explains why this is.

That quote has nothing to do with Link being the King of Hyrule.

These quotes indicate that Link is meant to wield the entire Triforce, much like the Great King. The final line of text on the scroll also basically tells Link to make Hyrule prosper.

With everything in mind, it is pretty much a fact that Link was meant to be the second Great King, apparently selected by the first Great King himself.

FINALLY! A quote that proves that AoL Link will be king!
