Who is the Old Man at the end of AoL?

Possibly. It's more likely he's a servant of the Royal Family though. I like the idea that he could be a Sheikah or at least have ties to them.

Speaking of which, is someone a Sheikah by bloodline or is that person a Sheikah because of their ways of life? I ask this because by the time of AoL, if the Sheikah were indeed a race of people and they were nearly gone by the time of OoT, there's reason to believe there'd be none left by the time this Old Man came around.

Unless.

If the Sheikah was more a way of life, like a religion or a brotherhood, then someone could easily learn the way of the Shiekah, much like Zelda did to become Sheik, and this Old Man living in the time of AoL, guarding the ToC, could very possibly be a Sheikah.

Let's consider this for a moment. His magic is based in the shadows (creating Link's Shadow), and aren't the Sheikah considered the "Shadow People"? They are employed to protect the Royal Family and, thus, its secrets. Impa knew the secret of the palaces and the sleeping princess because of her role towards the Royal Family. This old man probably plays a similarrole to hers, keeping the secret of the ToC, a secret related to the sleeping princess.

So probably not a Minish, but a Sheikah is definitely the more likely identity of this man. We'll probably never know this man's name (unless Nintendo one day remakes this game and adds more to the storyline). What do you guys think about this so far? A Sheikah Sage or something else entirely?

I've made this claim many times I dunno if I can be bothered really to type it up again... I may search some old posts...

Basically I interpret that all the ancient sages are Oocca in their true/original form from carvings in the Temple of Time, Sky Temple and dominion rod inferrences etc. As well as the 'creators of the Hylia' thing.

I'll go into more detail if necessary but it's a little off topic

It's shown in OoT that the Sages are chosen from among the denizens of Hyrule. There's nothing to prove that this isn't the same with the ancient sages or sages to come (WW's Sages, once again, are chosen from among mortal men). I'm sure Ooca could, as living, thinking creatures, become Sages if necessary as well. While it's possible this man is a Sage, and thus, and Ooca, we know that the tiny bird-like people have a very distinct look about them. This old man at the end of AoL looks like a Hylian, through and through, which kind of defeats the argument that he could be an Oocca. The only reason I didn't bat an eye too much at the Minish idea was that Minish actually look a little bit like Hylians, whereas Oocca do not.

If you want, you can definitely go into more detail about why you feel the Sages are Oocca (you weren't too clear on your reasoning in your last post, not connecting the story elements you listed as rational reasons to this being the case).

I think he's a Sage that was instructed by the King to guard the Triforce of Courage.

I also think he's the one who conjured the big barrier thing and Dark Link, and would bring to life the shadow of anyone who stepped into the room.

I think he's a Sage too. Moreover, I now have reason to suspect that he was a Sheikah Sage, much like Impa was.
