THE Zelda Facts Guide: Including Theories & Questions

This is it, this is the thread that every Zelda Theorist MUST look at. This thread will detail ALL Timeline related Zelda Facts.
Quote:
Disclaimer: I Would like everyone who Posts on this Thread to either A.)Share Zelda Facts from Any Game that are prevalent to the overall storyline, B.) Put forth a Theory that has been thought about and corrected many Times before by yourself and others, C.) Post a Question that can be answered by either a Fact (a fact that probably would be on this thread by the time of asking it) or by a Very, VERY feasible theory. I Will put, at the bottom of this Post, a list of contributors who give any of these three things in their post (But i will ask that you delete that post after it has been added to this one particular post; questions, once answered, i ask, to be also deletd ONLY after being answered). Thank You and Thank You.

[About Theories]: Theories have to A.) Be Universal and apply to all Zelda games if need be. B.) Must conform to the Facts FIRST. C.) Must Explain and Expand on the Knowledge of Zelda, from the Theories Perspective, So that it may be used as A Fact. Thats all that's Required.

[About Questions]: For question-ers, Keep in Context to what is in Question; For Answer-ers, Answer within context of the Question, Facts, and Accepted Theories. That is all That's Required.

| Lets Assume that when the split timeline occured, The only things that were not doubled (or SPLIT) were the triforce pieces (Not the relic (That seems to have gone to both timelines, as in there's 6 triforce artifacts in the zelda universe) but the actual power of the Goddesses themselves). The 3 Goddesses watch over their creation, even if there are Two of them.
| Ganondorf is sucked of his life when he both loses the ToP in WW and is impaled in the Head with the MS. Thus ending his reign. At That very moment, Ganondorf of TP is about to be executed by the Sages until the ToP comes to him. Basically, their was a priority of the Adult timeline (the original timeline) over the child timeline (the second timeline).
When Link was no longer present in the Adult timeline and left on his journey to Termina (and possibly died), he was seperated from the priority of the Triforce piece of Courage that goes to him (i would like it better if it was simply because he ventured into Termina but it's indifferent to the point).
| Just as link before him, Ganondorf , too, eventually, had his piece taken away from him when he was banished beneath the Great Ocean. Link, the hero of Twilight Princess, came onto the scene to reclaim the lost relic of Courage. Zelda can be explained in the same way MM's Link can be explained. Tetra denied herself her Zelda privilage and was taken away from the Triforce of Wisdom in the process. Link left hyrule/entered Termina, Tetra banished the Title of Zelda. They're practically identical circumstances.

The Facts Section: Add your Facts Here

Quote:
Fact Session # 1: The Ocarina of Time

The LoZ chronology officially splits in two due to the events of Ocarina of Time's ending (Zelda sending Link back to the past), creating an 'adult' timeline and a 'child' timeline

Link is not a Kokiri; Link is a hylian that was Left in the Care of the Deku Tree by his mother before she passed on

The Great Deku Tree Dies in the Child Portion of the Game but has an offspring called the Deku Sprout in the Adult Timeline

Ganondorf is the King of the Gerudo and the Tribe of Gerudo (Save for One; Nabooru, the Spirit Sage) Respect him as one

Ganondorf Kneels before the King to Show Humble Alliance

Ganondorf Enters the Sacred Realm and it Turns into A Dark Realm

In The Adult Timeline, Link Stabs Ganon in the Head with The Master Sword which allows the Seven Sages to Seal him In The Dark Realm

Ganondorf Laments is own sealing and Vows Vengence upon The Sages Descendants

Link has a triforce piece in his hand at the end of the game (The Very Last Scene)
__________________________________________________ ____________________________

Fact Session # 2: Majora's Mask

Link Began This Journey Searching for Navi (Who left through a Window in the temple of Time at the end of OoT)

Majora's Mask was a Mask used by an ancient dark tribe in their hexing rituals; the mask was eventually sealed by this same tribe

Majora's Mask shows Link without the Triforce mark on his hand

Skull Kid ( The Imp Wearing Majora's Mask) Is acquainted With the Link in this Adventure

The Four Giants are The Overseers of Termina; They Have Befriended the Skull Kid Before the Events of the Game

The Masks that transform Link into alternative forms are actually Masks that embody a soul of a deceased Person; A Zora Musician, A Hero Goron, and a Petrified Deku Shrub

Majora, and the children of the Moon, All want to play a game of Tag/Hide & Seek with Link but Link must first relinquish the gathered masks that he has acquired through out the game. In doing so, Link is given the Fierce Diety Mask, a Powerful Transformation Mask, so that he can "play" tag with Majora himself. Fierce Diety is Known as Oni-Link and the original concept of "Oni" is of a classic Tag game where the Oni would have to Tag the other players. Thus, Link (The Oni) tries to "Tag" the next player, Majora.

The Happymask Salesman Disappears at the end of the Game
__________________________________________________ ____________________________
Fact Session # 3: Wind Waker

This Story Takes Place on the Adult Timeline Created in the OoT

The Great Deku Tree Sprout (from The Adult Portion of OoT) is seen as a Full Grown Deku Tree

Aonuma has stated that the Rito were designed as the evolved form of the Zora

The Triforce is shown to disappear after a wish is made in the end of Wind Waker

The Seven Sages - introduced during the second half of Ocarina of Time - have only been seen or referenced on the adult timeline (WW/PH)

By the time of Wind Waker, Hylians are no longer recognized as a separate race (ear shape seems to be considered a trait like hair curliness or eye color)
__________________________________________________ ________________________

Fact Session # 4: Phantom Hourglass

The Story of This Game Proceeds From Wind Waker

The boss-key-blocks from Phantom Hourglass features an identical eye (with three triangle lashes above and below design) that Agahnim's portion of Hyrule Castle displayed
__________________________________________________ ___________________________
Fact Session # 5: Twilight Princess

Midna and Zant come from "The Dark tribe" which was sealed within the Twilight Realm changing their form to become the Twili

The Fused Shadows was a relic in Twilight Princess which possessed the combined dark magic of an ancient tribe (Which also bears a Resemblance to Majora's Mask)

The Twilight Mirror was an object created by the goddesses to connect Hyrule with the Twilight Realm, which were used and watched over by the Sages

The Twilight Mirror is (or has plenty of Similarities to) the Dark Mirror [FSA]

Ganondorf Gains the Triforce of Power in this Game by some "Divine Prank"

Twilight Princess shows the Gorons using super-powerful electromagnets and probably geothermal energy in their mines

Twilight Princess shows that Gorons do not require air to survive
__________________________________________________ ___________________________

Fact Session # 6: Oracle of Ages/Seasons

"Din" & "Nayru" Make an Appearence in This Game as The Oracle of Seasons and The Oracle of Ages, Respectively

OoX begins with the full Triforce being held in Hyrule

Oracle of Ages shows that "Zora" may be merely a name for water-dwelling humanoids and not any particular species
__________________________________________________ ___________________________

Fact Session # 7: A Link to the Past

Link Kills Ganon with The Silver Arrow

Link Touches The Whole Triforce and Makes a Wish upon It at the End of this Game

No game featuring the Master Sword can follow Link to the Past (it rests "FOREVER")

The Secret Dungeon to this Game is Known as the Palace of Four Swords, which is located inside the "Pyramid of Power" (Which houses the Trident Stolen by Ganondorf in Four Swords Adventures)
__________________________________________________ ___________________________

Fact Session # 8: The Legend of Zelda

Ganon is Killed By The Silver Arrow, By Link
__________________________________________________ ___________________________

Fact Session # 9: Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Many Seasons Have Passed Since This Games Predecessor, The Legend of Zelda

Some little old pointy-eared man is in possession of the Triforce of Courage in Adventure of Link
__________________________________________________ ___________________________

Fact Session #10: Link's Awakening

Link, in the end, Awakens The Wind Fish, a Diety that creates illusions and dreams

The Owl that guides link throughout this game reveals himself to be an agent of the Wind Fish

The Nightmare that stands as the Final Boss reveals his plan to induce and endless sleep upon the wind fish so that the island of Koholint will never dissappear

The Nightmare takes on the form of Agahnim (From A Link to the Past), a Trident wielding Ganon, and a form that is one solid eye with tentacles/arms
__________________________________________________ ___________________________

Fact Session #11: The Minish Cap

The Hero of Men Banished Evil From Hyrule with the Picori Sword, Given To Him by the Minish/Picori

Vaati Breaks the Legendary Picori Blade at the Beginning of The Game

Vaati wields the power of Darkness

Vaati is Searching for the Light Force, a source of limitless magical power

The Picori Blade, over the course of The Minish Cap, Becomes the White Sword. It Is Then infused with the Four Elements and Becomes the Four Swords

Gustaf is A Former King of Hyrule that Guided Link from time to time during his Adveture

The Minish are the Creatures Who Leave Items and Money under Objects in the Zelda Universe (Thus explainig why they're There when Link breaks something or Cuts Grass)
__________________________________________________ ___________________________

Fact Session #12: Four Swords
__________________________________________________ ___________________________

Fact Session#13: Four Swords Adventures

Ganondorf is seen as/recognized as the Gerudo Male Born every 1oo Years

Ganon is sealed in the Four Swords by the end of this story

Gerudo's exist in this game and They Guard the Desert

Gerudo are not Theives/Pirates in this game; Gerudo live in tents instead of in Fortresses

Ganondorf Initiates an evil plan to take control of the land by manipulating Vaati's Ignorance of Ganon's plan, Stealing the Trident, Stealing the Dark Mirror (so as to create Shadow Link, The Harbinger of Ganon) and Destroy the Seven Maidens along with Princess Zelda

The Trident is Implied to have Changed Ganondorf into Ganon When He Stole it For it bears two descriptions; One is that It Wields Dark power and any person who is able to wield it will be known as the King of Darkness and Two is that the Trident is Opposing the Master Sword (Or the Idea of what the Master Sword Represents), The Master Sword is For Those Who Extinguish Dark Beings and the Trident Is For Those who Will Wield Dark Powers

Vaati loses the Title of "King of Darkness" to Ganon and is also Vanquished

The Zuna Race live alongside the Gerudo and Are Said to have created the Pyramids in the desert area of the game (including the Pyramid that houses the Trident)

The Dark Mirror is (or has plenty of Similarities to) the Twilight Mirror [TP]
__________________________________________________ ___________________________

Fact Session #14: Hyrule's History

Din, the Goddess of Power (Who Created The Red Land/Planet), Nayru, The Goddess of Wisdom (Who Created Law and Space-Time), And Farore, The Goddess of Courage (Who Created The Races to Uphold the Law and to Live on the Land) Are the Three Goddesses of Hyrule Who Created it All and Left The Relic known as the Triforce in their Stead
__________________________________________________ ___________________________

Fact Session X: Miscellaneous

The Creature "Moblins", and all similar creatures to them, are independant of Ganon; they are more like dodongo's, deku's, zora's, etc. some are good and some are bad

Moblins make up the majority of Ganons army

Moblins appear in: The Legend of Zelda, The Adventure of Link, A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Ocarina of Time, Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, Four Swords, The Wind Waker, Four Swords Adventures, The Minish Cap

Hylians possess the ability of telepathy (as demonstrated frequently in Link to the Past) but for the most part are unaware of it

Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess can be concretely placed on the child timeline

The Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass can be concretely placed on the adult timeline

Yes, although the Gerudo in FSA tell us that he was supposed to be the "protector of the destert" because he was the special (=male) child. But Ganondorf broke their law when he entered a temple sacred to the Gerudo in search for a powerfull artifact known as the trident of power. And therefore the Gerudo despise him and outcasted him.
Just expanding on what you said, you are absolute right.

Re: THE Zelda Facts Guide: Including Theories & Questions

Link didn't die at the end of MM. He had to return to Hyrule to give the Gorons the Hero's Bow that he earned in Termina. He also had to have done something heroic on the child timeline in order for his story to be so widely known by the time of TP.

Ok, Thanks, ill edit that now.

Not a fact- look nothing like each other and I really see no reason to believe it and more importantly no reason to want to.

There is overwhelming evidence to support this.

Hmm... because it has Twilight Princess Link and it doesn't contradict anything. It's Superfluous, but its more Canon than not so... ye. If you dont want it on here then let me know.

I Dont really think speculation is neccessary. If you have a theory on what link could have done in his child form to earn him recognition, submit it and we'll see if it is a fact or not.

P.S. Is there any FACTS you guys wish to add? just post them and verify them and they're on here.

And Also, Do the Gerudo Exist in FSA's? as a whole race?

Re: THE Zelda Facts Guide: Including Theories & Questions

Yes the Gerudo are in FSA as a whole race.

And the Hero's Bow is all but confirmed to have been the hero's post-Termina. That and TP has so many references to an adult 'Hero'.

And the Gustaf evidence is hardly overwhelming- you will find relatively few who accept it. There's really no reason not to think he's merely a previous generation Link.

And because Stallord (the final boss of LCT) was killed in TP- unless there's two, but that's an awful lot of 'but ifs' for the sake of a mini game.

I like the idea of this thread. It would be great if we could get it filled up.

On another note, OoT Link had to have grown up, because TP link inherits his tunic, which was made to fit adult link.

So, to clarify, Gerudo in FSA.
Hero's bow (gained by link in termina) is in the possession of the gorons by TP.
References to an Adult link in TP. so basically, If the new Wii title has the Hero of Time coming back from Termina and doing something great then it would all fit. ok. we'll just wait til that game comes out then. Cuz if not, i do know that these points will have to be explained (so i wont put it on the Big Post above just yet)
Crossbow is out, that boss is in the game and it died so ye, ill edit that.

Now Gustaf is just a king, and Hero of Men is just an Ancient hero. ok. fine.

Thank you. Help out when you can, with facts and theories.

Read above. THE ONLY way to explain the TP's former link is if he literally comes back in the new wii game. thats the only way (we already know he's an adult so thats no problem)

Exactly- and we know exactly why he was remembered- defeating Ganon! Why he is remembered on the opposite timeline (TP) is what is required.

Is the Bow in Twilight Princess REALLY the one that link gained in Majora's Mask? Didn't link have a bow in OoT? Could that not be the bow in OoT? Hmmm?

Re: THE Zelda Facts Guide: Including Theories & Questions

If it is the bow in OoT then you are saying still that Link had more adventures upon returning to Hyrule as in the CT Link never got the bow as he never went to the Forest Temple to get it.

And aesthetically it looks more like the 'Hero's Bow' of MM than the 'Fairy Bow' of OoT.

Re: THE Zelda Facts Guide: Including Theories & Questions

So then... It Must Neccessarily be a fact that link gave the Bow to the gorons after MM. Ok, why? What reason COULD there be? i'm ready to accept your evidence but validity must also follow logic and good reasoning.

Re: THE Zelda Facts Guide: Including Theories & Questions

We don't know why! Currently there is no reason. We know he was good friends with the Gorons on the AT- perhaps he helped them out with the Dodongo problem on the CT too and made friends with Darunia and just gave them a present upon returning to Hyrule. Or perhaps it's cause he knows they'll keep it safe until the next of his line who deserves it comes to claim it. But this is just speculation- at the moment it's a big 'WHO KNOWS!?'

The one in LCT has twice as many horns as the one in TP. I would say that they added horns to show exactly what you see as a stretch, namely that those things were not unique and there seems to be more then one.

Re: THE Zelda Facts Guide: Including Theories & Questions

I'm only going by memory here, but if LCT is canon we've got a new mystery antagonist.
Remember the miniboss of the Arbiter's Grounds, how when you beat it it turns into a swarm of bugs and flies out of the room? In LCT, you fight a Darknut as a boss who can also disassemble himself into a swarm of bugs.

For some less theory-y territory:
 • Ganondorf loses the Triforce of Power at the end of Twilight Princess and it remains unaccounted for.
 • OoX begins with the full Triforce being held in Hyrule.
 • Some little old pointy-eared man is in possession of the Triforce of Courage in Adventure of Link.
 • The Triforce is shown to disappear after a wish is made in the Wind Waker.
 • The boss-key-blocks from Phantom Hourglass features an identical eye with three triangle lashes above and below design that Agahnim's portion of Hyrule Castle displayed.
 • Even without the protection of the Triforce of Power, Ganondorf is perfectly capable of clear understandable speech (and artsy metaphors) with about half of a large sword is inside his brain.
 • The sages in Twilight Princess wear identical costumes but are invisible underneath, very different from the sages of Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker who looked perfectly normal (for what they were).
 • Powerful beings in Phantom Hourglass possess the ability of mitosis.
 • The title screen to the original Legend of Zelda very clearly showed a rapier with a full hand-guard, the likes of which have never been shown in the series.
 • In Link to the Past the Master Sword can shoot a beam, but not in other games.
 • No game featuring the Master Sword can follow Link to the Past (it rests "FOREVER").
 • Link travels to the past of the Temple of Time in Twilight Princess and the Master Sword is not present at its pedestal.
 • Twilight Princess shows the Gorons using super-powerful electromagnets and probably geothermal energy in their mines.
 • Twilight Princess shows that Gorons do not require air to survive.
 • Oracle of Ages shows that "Zora" may be merely a name for water-dwelling humanoids and not any particular species.
 • Majora's Mask shows that people can compose the same songs in Termina and Hyrule independent of each other.
 • Majora's Mask shows Link without the Triforce mark on his hand.
 • Hylians possess the ability of telepathy (as demonstrated frequently in Link to the Past) but for the most part are unaware of it.
 • Hylians believe that their longer ears give them super-human hearing.
 • By the time of Wind Waker, Hylians are no longer recognized as a separate race (ear shape seems to be considered a trait like hair curliness or eye color).
 • In Legend of Zelda and Adventure of Link, Link's shield displays a Christian cross symbol.
 • In Link to the Past the "Sanctuary" is very reminiscent of a Christian church.
 • Twilight Princess's Snowpeak ruins also seem to feature a private chapel.

Maybe more later, I've strained my memory.

Bugs... It must be Agitha! She's the true villain behind the scenes!! :p

Re: THE Zelda Facts Guide: Including Theories & Questions

Okay, I'm gonna go ahead and give some constructive critisism to this thread.

1) The contents of this thread should really belong on the Zelda Wiki which is much more organised when it comes to things like this.
2) Stating facts can sometimes go way overboard, like "In ALttP, Link has a hat"

We have a stickied thread with links to such resources as japanese tranlation, developer quotes and wikis. This thread doesn't quite add anything to the already established and competent system.

With that said, I like your work and I hope to see you contribute to the wiki. You'll get a shiny banner if you do
