| My Zelda Fanfic: The Creator of the mask Chapter 1: The Strange note-- Zelda A quiet day in Hyrule castle was something to cherish, as there were no heroes to renown, no one to give orders to. Just a relaxing day. But this was not a quiet day. The day came with a letter, addressed to none other than Zelda herself. This was odd, as it was delivered by hand. That doesn’t happen very often. “Impa,” Zelda called her caretaker Impa. Zelda and Impa were very close, as they had known each other since Zelda was a mere infant. “Yes, your grace?” Impa inquired. “ How did this letter get in here by hand, without being accompanied by a guard?” “Well, I have no clue. I did not see anyone come in. Are you sure someone was here? I must apologize, but now I have to see your father at a big meeting. I cannot be late. Goodbye, your grace.” Impa made a hasty leave, which was not like her to just run off like that. Zelda decided to open up the letter, still resting in her shaking hands. Carefully, she removed the letter from its envelope and scanned it, taking in every word. Dear Princess Zelda of Hyrule, I have long waited to understand my family while locked up in the tower. I understand that you don’t know me, so allow me to introduce myself. I am Flora, Princess of Termina. I am a relative of yours, a cousin, to be precise. Everyday I wonder why we have never met. A raging war between the moon and Termina has just ended, but the people of Termina are happy to not fear the moon. I have waited long to meet you. If it is not a problem, could you visit me in Termina? I will wait for you in the clock tower at the entrance to South Clock Town. I believe you can reach the entrance to the clock tower through the link between our lands, the lost woods. Your dear cousin, Flora This was something to think about. An adventure of self-reflection and finding one’s family, or sitting in the castle grounds. On the other hand, what if the note is fake? It could be a silly charade made by Ganondorf. Zelda’s head said no, but her heart beat her and screamed go! She smiled and grabbed a purple ocarina, some food for her journey, a knife for emergencies, an empty bottle and a second bottle containing a life preserving fairy. Perfect. As quietly as she could, she headed to the caste stables and took a strong white horse. The last thing she did before setting out on her journey was a note for Impa, asking her to keep quiet about her journey to Termina. “Whew. finally getting going,” she muttered to herself. as fast as she could, she left the Castle grounds into the world. alone. Chapter 2- Missing-- Link Link walked into the garden where Impa directed him to find his good friend, Zelda. To his surprise, he found nothing but birds and a note. Although it wasn’t his note, Link read the note beside his partner, Navi. Impa-- I’ve left to go to Termina to find someone. Please don’t tell my father Thank you, Zelda “Hey! should you go to Termina and find Zelda?” screeched Navi. Link’s helpful yet annoying partner sometimes annoyed even Link himself, so he nodded and headed for The Lost woods. He knew the way there, since he recently fought in defeating a mask that haunted Termina: Majora’s mask. This creepy mask still chills Link’s body every time he remembers the cold disturbing mask. What kind of person could have made it, and for what reason? Entering the Lost woods, Link headed right, forward, right, forward, left, right. Navi stayed behind because it is the job of a fairy to stay in his or her homeland. As for Navi, that land was Hyrule. Link smelled the familiar fog of the woods that would lead him to the clock tower. It was familiar, yet at the same time it was mysterious and unfamiliar. There is no way to describe the air surrounding Termina. All Link could do was breathe it in deeply. “ding ding ding!” a bright sound stopped Link in his tracks. A wing hid in the bushes and Link investigated it, only to find the brother of an old friend: Tael. The violet fairy rose from the bushes and spoke in his strange way of speaking, without telling you everything. As if it was a code that you had to crack. “A friend ran to a royal palace. hurry and find the clock. If it is wanted by you, Link I shall accompany you.” Tael stated almost like reciting something he had already heard or memorized. Unable to understand Tael’s message other than “I shall accompany you” Link simply nodded and pressed on and into the clock tower. Memories of a giggling skullkid, being transformed into a helpless deku scrub, and teaming up with Tael’s sister, Tatl. At the end of a corridor were two young girls, and Link squinted to see them both. they were right in front of him, but as soon as he blinked, they both disappeared into thin air. Chapter 3--Finding Flora--Zelda As soon as Zelda reached the clock tower, she dismounted her horse and left it with and apple to eat. With every step she took, she could hear her shoes echo through the entire tower and her it seemed like her hair made more noise than the tower just by walking, It was starting to look like no one was here, excepting herself. At the end of a long corridor, Zelda called out for her so called cousin. “Flora? It’s me, Zelda! You sent me a letter? Hello?” Zelda called with doubt ringing louder than the echo of her voice. She breathed heavily for about 30 seconds then slowly turned around. Accepting that there was no one there was difficult to understand. Then why would she have gotten a letter? Why was it addressed from Termina? Questions were outnumbering logical explanations, and perhaps there was more to this than meets the eye. At least that’s all she could hope for. “Do you believe that this is a hoax? a practical joke? a prank? child’s play? You are sorely mistaken my cousin Zelda. I am Flora. You should have more faith in your instincts, really.” A grinning girl with super straight blond hair and sharp, emerald green eyes appeared from behind a large pole. She was wearing a cute purple dress with knee-high black boots and a gold necklace. To top it all off, she was wearing a gold sash around the waist of her dress. She looked a lot cooler than Zelda, with her formal pink and white long dress with a triforce emblem on it. She had no idea what to say or do, but she felt like she had known Flora for a long time. “Flora, It is wonderful to meet you. But why do you want me in Termina? And why would you have us meet in this grimy clock tower? The air is so pretty outside!” Flora opened her mouth to answer Zelda, but stopped when a young boy clothed in green came dashing down the corridor. Flora grinned and snapped her fingers, and They were suddenly moved to a higher point in the tower. Link must have believed he had been imagining Flora and Zelda standing at the end of the corridor. Link’s gleaming fairy was not his regular accomplice, Navi. This fairy’s origins were definitely from Termina, because no fairy looked like that one in all of Hyrule. But it spoke in a strange lingo so soft that it must have been hard for even Link to hear it. When Link headed out the gigantic doors leading to clock town. “Zelda, that boy almost saw us! It was a good thing I warped us up here in time.” Zelda stood before her crazy cousin with her mouth dropped open as far as humanly possible. “That’s Link! what he’s my friend!” Zelda was far more that infuriated by now. “No matter, we have to leave and go to the top of the tower, before sundown, when the guard will make his rounds. follow me, and I will explain.” Zelda simply nodded and trailed behind Flora as she listened intently to the given explanation. Maybe finally she would understand the intentions Flora had. “Alright. I have lived in this tower for a long time. My father and I used to be on top of the world, we ruled Termina peacefully, much like you. My father became ill, and when he knew that death was nearing in on him, he locked me up in a tower that overlooks Clock town. Everyone forgot me, they don’t even know that I’m still their princess. But too many years have passed. All I have is a guard and a Nurse, who teaches me things every once in awhile. Later I grew tired of this, and I took up mask making. I created a mask that I named Majora. But no one even knows it’s creator. I knew none of my family until I found an old family tree. That’s where you come in. I want to be able to know someonewho can help me reclaim something. So my question is, will you help me reclaim Majora’s Mask?” Flora flung open a door to the home inside the clock tower. It was a round home, but it was an amazing home if you would ever see one in your entire life. A secret castle, that seemed magical. But the question still stood. Would she help Flora find Majora’s Mask? Chapter 4—The Mask Quest Begins Now—Link A bright light flooded Link’s eyes as he came to the end of the corridor where he recalled meeting a crazy happy mask salesman as a pitiful deku scrub. Zelda was not there. She had disappeared into thin air just like that creepy Majora’s mask could. Link remembered that the mask had special properties, but no one knew where the mask originated from. “Magic escapes and so does a friend. Dark beings await. Your search for evil begins.” There goes Tael, blabbing about something that has to do with his quest, but Link really needed him to say something that he would understand. But Tael is such a strange character, that Link didn’t know how to talk to Tael. So he gave a simple nod and set out on a quest to find Zelda. The Clock tower doors creeked open and the pair headed through the door. A moment of silence was held between the two, because they could hear the memories of the chilling Majora’s Mask that they had faced. But there was a disturbance in Link’s memories. Tael was not with Link when he had been looking for a possesed skull kid. He could only remember a small golden fairy, named Tatl. What had happened to her? Tael had not mentioned her at all, yet they were family. “Tatl is not here. She is home.” Link jumped at the sound of Tael’s voice that shattered their silence. It seemed that things were okay with Tael, but how in the world could he tell that he was thinking of Tatl? Tael just kept getting weirder. There was work to do, But the question was, where to start? “Someone in town knows the history of our shared battle of a mask.” Tael sung fluttering through the air. That was where to start. Majora’s mask would be entering the quest. Termina was still under the gaze of majora’s mask. Wherever it is. Link began by asking the mayor of Clock town about Majora’s mask and it’s history. “ Well, it caused a war all over the world but no one know’s where it came from. What I do know is that you may want to ask someone from out of town.” Link reasoned that this may be very logical, because the mayor was oblivious to most of the happenings of Clock town. He was a coward without any knowledge to give. He pondered the Mayor’s meaning. There were very few people here from out of town. Tingle, Link, and Zelda. Tingle was the best shot, so he made his way over to North clock town. But that wasn’t easy, because the town folks were now screaming for their lives. In the corner of his eye, he could see deku scrubs, deku babas, wolfos, white wolfos and keese flooding the town. “Time to get down to buisness.” Link said as he unsheathed his sword. This wouldn’t be easy. There were probably over 300 enemies and counting flooding into South Clock Town. Chapter 5 – How We Build It—Zelda Zelda quietly followed Flora up the stairs and into the clock tower. She could not believe what she had just agreed to. Helping her cousin she’d just met find her mask? What was she thinking? She clearly did not have any sense at the moment. They were two kids in a ginormous world, looking for a stupid mask! Reality tapped Zelda on the Shoulder as she looked around the room. It was the round piece of the clock tower. It was a pretty house with a gorgeous view that overlooks South Clock town. The room had everything you might find in a home. A fireplace, blankets, a bed, an area for Flora to play in, and a few masks hanging on the wall. There was a large basket of food and water in a large bucket. “Well, it’s not the castle I used to live in, but eh, it does it’s job.” This was Flora’s life. A small confined space with masks to keep her company. It was her home, but a small one. This wasn’t even half the size as Hyrule castle. Maybe not even a quater of the size! Confinement. Not something Zelda was used to. Even Ganondorf had given her a nice and comfy large cell. If anything, Zelda felt like a prissy princess who doesn’t know anything about hard work and dedication. Flora may be a princess, but not every princess lived in luxury. “ Zelda do you play the harp? I do, you wanna hear some?” Flora said with a nice grin on her face. Zelda nodded and shut her eyes to listen close to her cousin’s playing. Her fingers were light on the strings, as she cradled the harp in her arms. She started to sing as she played with beautiful precision. Love, never fly away, live life, behind glass Sing with your heart Don’t forget your home, now Love, never fly away, live life behind glass Said the life of Termina, Cursed, to live behind glass. Come one of far Save me from my Curse Masks of honor Majora hides me from my life So completely bounded Let me live life away from here Please help me. Zelda opened her eyes where Flora stood smiling. “ Um, what was that song about? It was the most beautiful harp playing my ears have ever had the pleasure of hearing, but I don’t understand your song.” Zelda was mesmerized by Flora’s gorgeous playing. Her eyes brimmed with tears as she pondered the song Flora had sung with her quaint, pretty voice. The song was familiar yet she had no idea what it was. “It’s a prophecy that the king of Termina gives to his son or daughter. The princess of Termina is destined to live in hiding. But I believe there is something more to this. This is only half of the song. Unfortunately, I don’t play the ocarina.” Flora slumped down into a chair, feeling discouraged. “I play the ocarina! I learned this song when I was little. The song is different from how you’re playing it. When I play the ocarina part, you sing the part you just sung to me. When you play the harp, I sing the other half of the song. Let’s try it. Ready, Flora?” Zelda grinned triumphantly. Flora arose from her seat and set her fingers on the Strings of her harp. The ocarina part was first. Love, never fly away, live life, behind glass Sing with your heart Don’t forget your home, now. Love, never fly away, live life behind glass Said the life of Termina, Cursed, to live behind glass. Come one of far Save me from my Curse Masks of honor Majora hides me from my life So completely bounded Let me live life away from here Please help me. Then the harp part flowed in after the last line was sung Young green traveller Come find us to save. Be my hero and save me from confinement Always save, from darkness oh please! Who will be left behind? Emerald green eyes, brimming with silver tears Only know my friends away from here Just bring me back home! Termina brought life and tears for the land And Hyrule brought Smiles and wiped out the tears. Don’t leave me behind to die. Just bring us back home. Flora’s eye’s filled with tears, as you could clearly tell that she had never felt hope in all her years that she had lived. Hope had come from a cousin, and that feeling would always be there.
