The Writers' Pad II: One Thread to Rule Them All

Wanted to share this with you guys, as well.

For the first time in a while, Pinkie Pie is breaking from writing.

Because she finished the first draft of her novel, Drow.

EDIT: Well, not so much "breaking" as she is moving on to another story.

School is finally over, so I can start writing again! I'm going to be focusing on writing my Halloween story because it's long. Armed with Wings can wait.

I found this song called "Plinth" by Songs to Wear Pants To that fits the story well. I think I'll make it the "theme song" of the story. Does anybody else occasionally hear a song that screams "theme song" for your works?

Would anyone be willing to look over Drow? Pinkie Pie's asked before in the critique section, but no one has laid even one comment on the story.

I'll check it out! I know the feel of not getting any feedback at all, especially when its something you really want feedback on.

Drow is really really hard to critique. With my stuff, you can find something wrong with it pretty quickly. Someone better than me (Devoid, Shadow, Red Shadows etc), eh, give me thirty minutes and a finicky attitude, and I can probably find something to critique. It might be minor, but I'll find something. But Drow...

I'll give it a shot. No guarantees I'll be able to help, though.

Well i have written some lyrics for zelda songs so may someone critique them. I have also written some yaoi what all my friends said was my masterpiece of a relationship between Link and Ganondorf.

Pinkie Pie is more comfortable critiquing prose, if you want to provide it.

I can't put the story it have to much sexual themes. Sure i read later because i'm using a ipod.

You should try cutting it down to... 1%.

Stories should never depend on sex to fill the pages, not unless you're writing for Harlequin Erotic. Sex is a minor aspect of storytelling. You should spend most of the story building up believable chemistry between Link and Ganondorf (which you'd have to do quite well, since the uncanonicity of the pairing disgusts Pinkie Pie), culminating in a sex scene that you might not even need to include.

I know i changed that in my other stories. I'm thinking of destroying that one of Link and Ganondorf and make a new cleaner one.

Sex is a minor aspect of storytelling.

This is a subjective opinion. While in my own writing, I haven't used the act itself as much of a device, there are plenty of novels out there that have successfully used sexuality to drive the plot.

My real advice, if you're going in that direction: Be tasteful. Don't waste.

I'd have to agree with Holden.
In general (art of all kindzzzz), I think sex and sexuality has it's place. It's a big part of the human experience for a lot of people and there are other themes that can be explored through implementation of a sexual theme.

If you're writing smut, you're writing smut (not that there's anything wrong with that!)
But you can definitely write about sex, sexuality, sex acts, and have them contribute to the plot and development of characters.
