i entered this poetry contest on facebook. I think if you just view it, I get points or something. And you can also rate it.

I'm trying to rate yours but there is like 700 pages and you weren't on the first 10 or so, if you have a link, that'd help.

The Lens of Truth

From the air there bleeds
on metal and sea
A crooked thought of sanity.

A dragon breeds with horses;
while lips trample the sky.
Through the silver screen
I taste the key
I push away their knees.

Objective, subjective,
a dash of ketchup,
whats there to believe?

Your brain -
a presentational aid.
Sit with the stars
and dream out far,
for reality is whatever you say.

                             Laughing

Shattering Echoes
                    On the winds
                    Leaves twist
                     And turn
from the laughter
                of the sane
                 lunatic.

Losing Track

Some habits we keep forever.
Useless drabble of the days.
Irrelevant things exchanged,
nothing of note to say.

Yet we never break free,
we remain chained
to convince ourselves
we're normal - sane.

Time will run
shorter
and
go
away
but come
back for a
passing foundation

We can swim in the sand
and choose a position,
but eventually we all
must fall below.

Free dove;
peace and love
leather dress
weather blessed
& barefoot
sun-cooked
w/ smiles
and laughter for
all the world -
honest and true
a genuine pearl
in the polluted sea.
Hippie girl is
the one for me -
a soul veracious
and ever-free.

The Salesman

You can be sure the land will soon decay.
Corruption spreads towards every point.
You will need to enter the fray
to reclaim and redeem the people.
Only you can transcend,
and give amends
to the broken.

But to complete your quest and set forth
before it's too late
and set in bloom
the flowers of freedom,
the hero within you must be restored.
My friend, you've met with a terrible fate,
haven't you?

No more fortunes
I want an empty life.
The quiet emptiness
of the solemn void
in my mind.
It brings me peace to know,
my notes have touched your soul.

Did you want another piece?
Were all my possessions not enough?
I quelled the obsession
and laid it down.
But it wasn't enough,
no, not now:
it slips away
decrescendo.

From her lips to her fingertips
there leaks only truth.
She speaks in pens
and redeems the souls
that find themselves weak.
A Muse
who walks the Earth
to challenge the meaning of worth;
freeing the once locked secrets
to deliver us from latent fears.

I like this one a lot, but what exactly does each line mean, it would be much better is I understood how each line related to the lens or truth (zelda related?)

that's exactly the point, m'dear.

I've only read the first page and the last page so far, but even judging from that, you're an excellent poet. Seriously. You have such an interesting way of structuring your poems and emphasizing phrases/words, and the way you can make things *naturally* rhyme without it ever seeming like you're trying to rhyme is amazing.

The monster creeps below the stairs
here is where it makes it's lair
children see a glimpse of red
now they know the mind is dead

The rhyming in that one particularly impressed me. Anyways, looking forward to reading the rest of the pages.

An Ode to Zooey Deschanel~

A musician and an actor,
a dancer and a laugher,
one I've seen only on screens,
and not been graced in person.
To you I announce love;
your voice is one I'm often thinking of.
To hear it sing sweet melodies
and push away my melancholy.
In your hair and your eyes
I see the placid, ever-blue skies.
Immaculate and steadfast -
impossible to look past
for your innate beauty halts
all my racing thoughts.
For when I meet their dainty gaze,
I can't help but feel warm and amazed.

My Season

Midnight shadows in the sky,
pleasure goes and forests sigh.
Doors are locked but windows clear,
watching crawl closer; near.

Look out
On the Paths
That flowers
Wilt

All doubt
In dirty baths
In your cowering
Filth.

With but a blink,
and with not a second to think-
You're now eight out of nine
and the ninth will be mine.

Like the storm that douses the wild fires
and returns tranquility,
It all spills from me
and lifts me higher.
The smile that stuns you for awhile-
and makes you shyly avert your gaze.
No matter what happens
you feel you can keep a steady pace.
There's no empty hole, there's nothing you're lacking,
For you know you have a thorough soul.
So sigh with complacency
and try to be free with me.
Under this peaceful, moon-bleached night,
they feel as though everything is right.

Feel the Ocean



Feel the ocean.

Waves will crash and sweep up on shore
while distant storms bring the encore.
The wind passes by and your hair flutters
and you stand and wonder what the cuts were.

But it's all lost in the past,
and none were meant to last.
Rather than fall -
find new resolve.

Feel the ocean.
Feel the ocean.

A new motion in the floodgates of your heart
will give you the fullness of feeling your art.
You feel the waters pull and sweep,
and bring you out to the ocean's deep.

Once you're there you'll never want to leave.
You'll realize at sea is where you're most free.
Nothing else in this world could ever compare,
to finding yourself and having all aware.

How We Are Sold



Imagine us as plush, weary toys,
All aligned and circled.
Imagine us stuck,
the rows are our lives
and to try and divide
would be without point.
Escape is unreachable,
escape never near,
escape a figment of a daydream's fear.
A pipedream to go
in lands never known
and out of the clutches of a gear growing old.
We want off the racks,
we want off the shelves,
we want the freedom to be ourselves.
A tag without price,
a brain without code,
imagine obscureness unfold.

That's probably one of my favorites. Especially love the end

Symbolism was really done well, and the ending paid off nicely.

Party down the street all invites sent,
New contacts to meet with no resent.

Everyone down on the floor and crazy,
The music sounds and the room's all hazy.

Do your own thing to grab the spot,
Don't be a drag don't make it stop.

You can rock the crowd with the funky bass,
King with the crown kill the tepid pace.

Breaking all the norms and kicking out old,
Dancing a new form while the story unfolds.

When I first started writing I entered this phase where I wrote simply 4-lined poems. I felt like returning to those roots tonight.








Facts of health
stained on the pants,
to adhere to laws
is something I can't.

Forty at night, forty at day,
lacerations and furious swipes.
My soul bleeds from all the wounds
and to others the sorrow is their delight.

Who can judge the choices you've made,
surely you'd say, only you?
Critique yourself and the paths you've taken,
scrutinize until you're renewed.

Minister of all things wrong,
does your heart not falter?
Or is all this wrong-doing
sourced at an altar?

A thousand and four miles away,
months and months to pass.
When the time finally arrives at last,
prepare for hugs and joyful laughs.

A forest's night in a full moon's sky,
a wolf howls and claims a domain.
If a man were to do the same,
he'd be declared as insane.

Sweet Requite



He shuffled down the street,
he saw someone familiar.
The snow fell in sheets,
there was something to deliver.

Through the whitened mist,
shouts fill the air.
He gave the crimson kiss,
it was only fair.

Plymouth's Roots


To the west is where he went,
to destroy and rampage through-
to bring disease and chains to.
By the thousands life was stolen,
and nothing could stop the unyielding tide.
But the truth is hidden, learned golden,
a lie taught as a truth in the western world.
The sailor is not a hero.
The people don't realize,
they simply don't know,
our books glorify a box-office zero.

Sometimes to stop ourselves
from feeling the scorching burns,
we add fuel to the fire,
rather than turn away.

Wake

Artificial and manufactured,
ignorance dressed in radio.
No longer with an open heart,
without the human glow.

Produced for the market,
stacked on the shelves,
their message is clear:
don't be yourself.

Don't bother to think
or to act on your own
just believe what you're told
and do as you're shown.

Right face, forward march,
left right left right.
double time, march,
blinded to their plight.

Ensuring lucid states of mind
throughout all of mankind
is a job that's yours' and mine.
Even if we must grab and shake
it must be done if they are to wake.

When I go to fold my cards,
I find they're all torn in shards.
Nothing goes away completely,
once it's drawn in so deeply.
Like the sun is small in the sky,
it still burns with its small intensity.
A wisdom of which I am so sure,
from it we shall never be freed.

Draft

It started with a prod,
and then there was a cut,
but I soon forgot,
and in the back I shut.

Then the cut grew-
it burrowed in deep.
And once again I knew
I wouldn't get to sleep.

Awake through day and night,
bleeding from my head.
This time I would not fight;
accepted myself dead.

Another day in my house,
another day all alone.
Birds sing on the outside,
the sun shines inside.
I could play their music,
but I know it would be useless.
The soul adheres the mourning call
and leaves the heart that's given all.
