If there is anything that helps out a writer, it's having a decent word processor to type their stories up on. No, Notepad does not count. Wordpad is okay for the job, but what if you want something more extensive? I've also included online word processing solutions for those members who cannot download. Note that any and all downloadable word processors are freeware and will therefore cost nothing for you to download. ;D
Please be aware that this list is far from complete. If you have any suggestions or programs to add, please feel free to comment or post a link to the program in question. Thank you. ;D
- OpenOffice: An alternative to MS Office, which has much of the same functionality as the Microsoft equivalent. Along with a Windows version, there are other versions of it available for other OSes such as Linux and Mac OS.
- AbiWord: A free stand-alone word processor with similar functionality to MS Word. Is also available for Linux and Mac OS.
- Google Docs: An online word processor.
- Zoho: Another online word processor.
- LaTex Editor: A more advanced editor. While it isn't very practical for story writing, it is very useful for academic reports.
- iNetWord: Another online word processor. Has full support for editing stories written in HTML.
- KompoZer: While it technically isn't a word processor, this WYSIWYG HTML editor is really good for doing basic word processing.
