Looking for good approach to this idea

Hi all,
I was thinking about writing a story about a group of people who meet over the Internet through a shared hobby (fandom of a particular celebrity), and who eventually go on to conspire to kill people, as practice for killing the celebrity (so they can be famous).

Well, that's not EXACTLY the idea, but I've kind of replaced a few verbs and nouns so that when I actually write the story, it won't be spoiled. The general idea is fairly similar, though.

The point is this: I'm having a hard time figuring out what angle to approach this from. Should it initially play out from the perspective of the celebrity, with occasional glimpses of the 'fan club' at first, and then perspective switching as the reader learns more about what's going on? Or should the fan club be the main characters from the start? Etc

I'll say two things: the celebrity won't be boring if it's from his perspective, and the story should be a mystery. I'm not asking anyone to write the story for me, but merely for ideas about angles to approach this from.

Thanking you all,
Leo

Personally, I think your story would be best approached from the perspective of the celebrity. From that angle, you could really make this into a neat mystery thriller. You can even add some mystery and intrigue on the side of the police if you went that angle as well. I also think you could really get into his character and gauge his emotions (not that you can't from the perspective of the 'fan club', but still).

Try writing scenes out from both perspectives and see what you like. Who knows? The perspective of the "fan club" might prove to be very interesting as well. :3

Hmmm. From the perspective of the police might be an idea. I could try a mix of all three. I don't want to give too much away, but the police are interested in the celebrity, too.

That's an even better idea. If you try that, though, try not to jump around too much. Having all three going on in the same chapter might be too jarring to readers. If you're skilled enough to pull something like that off, though, then go for it.

OK. Thanks! That was easy.

Now on to the hard part... actually writing it...

Re: Looking for good approach to this idea

Glad I could be of help. In any case, still experiment around with the different perspectives and see what you like best.
