July Writing Contest - Results!
Yaaaay, results time!
A quick explanation for those of you wondering who I am and why the hell I'm posting this: Mr. Spork is off playing in New Zealand and as such is unavailable to post the results. Holly is as well... I don't remember why. >.> In any case, he asked me to cover for him! So here I am! *offers brownies to all* ^.^ Unfortunately due to the last minute nature of things, and my own hectic schedule/lack of graphic talent, there are no banners... yet! I promise that you'll have some soon. (I'll pester Spork about it til he gets some to you. )So now, without further ado... Third place: across the world by candc32 this world is full of sights, sounds, and wonder I want to see it all and so I shall from San Fran to Mexico we shall go full force blow to the ends of the world to see all we know Mexico is gross and smells dirty water is every where the ruins are why I came to Tenochtitlan but that is Mexico city from Tenochtitlan to the Deutschland we shall go full force blow to the ends of the world to see all we know drink at a bier hall ride on the autobahn see ruins of world war 2 off to Munich sit down and eat sausage from Munich to Egypt we shall go full force blow to the ends of the world to see all we know the pyramids are big the valley long and neat the Nile is very deep to Cairo we go to see the dead lay From Cairo to Japan we shall go full force blow to the ends of the world to see all we know deserted irradiated land old castles and weapons grab some whale meat we go to Tokyo see a show at Toho From Tokyo to Aussia we shall go full force blow to the ends of the world to see all we know see that vast deserts hop goes a kangaroo natives show me red rock we see Sydney and listen to the opera from Sydney to America we shall go to sleep for a year or ‘til the end of the world to dream forever more Forward Message Second place: In A Gaze by Tiare Gazing at a tea-stained desk and an ink-ebbed map, Peeking through the curtain’s phosphorescence. Restless dawn washed up against the night, I noted the chronometer’s absence of time, Trapped between all these lines. O! Wind us up or we can’t go. Am I better at life? I’m not better than you, I can’t trace my tension through these graticules. The edges of life and ecotones Are the contours marking my canoe’s grotto, Come now, and this breeze can be sown. These charts have eroded with the discoveries they shed, It is said, that there are no secrets left. You have, mayhap, A haven of late afternoons and long twilights Stowed away in a corner of yesterday. Remember the moonlit lagoon on a warm night? In a shimmering trail of ctenophores. When did the well leak that I now find Expeditions chasing ships through doubtful fiords, Lost in insatiable logs? O! Wind me up before you go. There was once a rainforest filled with gems and sounds, Birds sending signals over civilisations. The source of pilgrimages unbound, The scent of changes growing in a palimpsest Have hidden all staggering steps. These charts have eroded with the discoveries they shed, It is said, that there are no secrets left. You have, mayhap, A haven of late afternoons and long twilights Stowed away in a corner of yesterday. They could build a clock tower with frozen hands, Watching over at the ocean’s end; And every hour, a chime of water and light. Because I am wrapped in a journey Of ruminating auroras and bitter ice, Dreaming about the rest of the world. And first place goes to... : Traveling Heart by Yami I'm sitting at my desk and staring at the wall, I'm twiddling my pen, as I'm trying to write a song my mind draws a blank for every highway there is So I figure that a car will do the open road is an endless trail, From one side of the States to the other in a boat you can't sail so I'm set on this endless journey, and I'm writing about the sights, my head feels like its tired, but my heart says to keep on through the night Now how about a plane, soaring through the skies it's got a beastly roar, and it scatters birds in crowds, it's free to roam the heavens, not bound to the earth Passerby's look up in jealousy, while they're admiring the clouds while kids are having fun and eating sweets at the amusement grounds So I'm set on this endless journey, and I'm writing about the sights, my head feels like its tired, but my heart says to keep on through the night So how about a contrast, the ocean is a wide open way with long voyages taking place along its vast seaway, boats and trawls and cruisers cover the blue skyline, while the ocean sparkles against the night moon's shine So I decided on that train its voice is like an old aristocrat, I'm still writing my song, finding ideas, yet I yearn for a nap The train's simple noise is almost like a melody, its floors are open and it's journey is set, theres not much to do, so i'll just write and write but hey, 'at least i ain't getting wet' So I'm set on this endless journey, and I'm writing about the sights, my head feels like its tired, but my heart says to 'keep on through the night' I'm set on this endless journey, and my heart says to 'keep on through the night' my heart says to 'keep on through the night'. 'keep on through the night'. ~~~~~~ So congrats to everyone, thanks for participating! *buries the winners in even MORE brownies* ![]()

Neat, I felt my writing was lacking there in some verses. Oh well, thanks.
