OCTOBER 2006


October 1st:

Starting this day, you have one month to write a novella
- start to finish, 30,000 words.

The goal is not to write your best, but write your most.
DO NOT EXPECT PERFECTION.
Just keep writing. Save editing for another day,
and run to the finish.

You may post your story here for viewing as you write it
- just make sure you have your CATEGORY in the title.
Challengers who post their stories are asked to keep an
ongoing word count at the end of each post.

If you decide not to post your story, you must post in
this thread with updates on your progress
- DO NOT POST YOUR NOVELLA HERE.
Just your word count. If you want your entry verified,
please send it to me in an email.


October 30th:

On October 30th, participants who have reached 30,000 words will be
awarded with a certificate of completion, a banner for forum display.
Entrants who participate in the Zelda Fan Fiction category will get
a mention on the main site.

I have a question. So, do we write the story then post tit ont he due date, or do we post the storry little by little up towards the due date, or something else? This seems fun, but I'm not a very good fast writer(as in I have to take my time). Anyway, sign me up for now.

In last year's NaNoWriMo, many of us posted here as we wrote - it is by no means a rule for ZNWM participants, but a good idea to help keep you on track and show people what you're working on.

It all functions on the honor system; as long as you say you're in, and post a 30,000 word story [with word count] at the end of the month, you will have succeeded.

If I fail, I fail, but I will give it a try.

Hmm... doing this will stifle my creativity for NaNoWriMo. Oh well, sign me up, pipking! I shall begin on Sunday, I think. I eagerly await the day! Whoosh!

Guys... that's awesome. I thought there would maybe be three or four, tops.

Thirty thousand words!? Well, at least it is more attainable then the fifty thousand words required for the NaNoWriMo. So, let me get this straight. We write an average of one thousand words per day for thirty days, and we can write practically anything we want so long as it is 30,000 words, and has an understandable plot? If that is the case, then I may as well sign up. It could be good practice for my future novels.

Plus this is a good oppratunity to put a quote into practice.

edit: actually, if I read right... You post a thread like you would a Fan Fiction here... posting in new chapters every so often. Then, your word count total at the end of the post.

You're not obligated to post an individual thread here, but I just assumed most would want to. Only do it if you want - but defintely keep a tally in this thread if you don't. I trust folk here aren't going to lie about it.

Guys, I'm impressed. I hope we all make it - at the very least, I know we have it in us. Congratulations for having the courage to sign on.

I will be basing my idea loosely on World of Warcraft, but rest assured that it won't be a big factor. More [OF] than anything.

This sounds like something you should absolutely NOT do when you have geography and spanish tests coming up in october....

So I guess I'll be writing the whole thing here, but for the sake of interest, I'll put up chapters on a thread here as well. I just find it alot easier to work on a .word document.
So shall I send the final version to you at the end of the month then, pip?

If you want to post your work on the site, please do so in it's own thread. This one is for ideas, support, questions and for people who just want to post their word count.

I think I'll have a section on the certificate that says "verified" for people who want to send me their documents.

I have changed my mind, for anyone actually reading this. I am, for the first time in about... oh, a year, maybe two, writing a Zelda fanfiction. It's just a revision of my old Three Sapphires one, but I've greatly improved since then, and since the last one was already about 60,000 words in itself, I think I can pull it off, and make it look good too.

Sign me up. 30,000 words is a heck of a lot easier than 50,000.

Now, questions. First off, can we make a basic outline of our stories before actually beginning them? Also, when does this begin?
