[GIMP] Making and installing custom Splashes [*]

o1. What are Splashes?

Splashes, first of all, have nothing to do with your image in The GIMP, they’re just there to make things look pretty. The only time you’ll actually see your Splash is when The Gimp is loading. That’s it, but they sure are nice.

This is a Splash (the Default):

o2. How do I make a Splash?

Splashes are really fun to make, well, because you have no boundaries at all. They can be any size, any color, and can say anything you want them to say (though I prefer just putting down ‘The GIMP’ and the version.

Righto, so go ahead and make something you think looks nice, and make sure not to go that crazy.

My Splash:

o3. Installing your Splash.

Now you’ve got to install it, which is actually pretty simple. Simply go to you’re folder for The GIMP (C:\Documents and Settings\*your name here*\.gimp-2.4). Now, create a folder and call it ‘Splashes’. Now, last step, copy/move your Splash into the folder. Start up GIMP, and bam.

My working Splash:

o4. What to do if you want to use more than one Splash.

Now, you might want to use more than one Splash, okay, that's fine. Just add all of the ones you want to use into the folder you called 'Splashes'. The Splashes you made'll show up at random (ex. You have two splashes, there's a 50% chance the first one will show when GIMP loads).

This is my first tutorial, I hope you liked it!

(PS: Yes, that's a DBZ wallpaper behind the Splash. XP DBZ is win.)
