SIMPLE GIMP TUT: ROUNDED RECTANGLE
Tutorial: * Difficulty of One.
In this tutorial we will make a Rounded Edged Rectangle with a design on it.

Step 1: The First Affect
First start out with a blank white canvas. Get a brush and check "Use Color from Gradient." I used the Neon Cyan gradient. Use a large brush and fill the whole canvas. Leave no blank spots. Go to Filters>Blur>Gaussian Blur. Hit ok.
Step 2: Waves and Lighting
Ok, now that that's done go to Filters>Light and Shadow>Gradient Flare. Click on Distant Sun and click the settings tab. Change the color to a golden color if it isn't already. Set it on 128x 128Y. (Note: I'm using a 450x200 image). Click ok.
Now for the waves! Ok, go to Filters>Distorts>Waves. Mess around with the effects until you're satisfied.
Step 3: Rounding The Edge
Go to Filters>Blur>Pixelize. It should look like mine without the curved edge. Now, for the Curving. Nothing hard actually. Go to Filters>Decor>Round Edges. Shadows are already there for you!

Step 1B: Rendering
I don't know if this works. Find a render and if it's a little large, Autocrop it. Set the opacity to where it can be seen but does not block the rounded rectangle. I don't know how to cut edges off manually but mine is a little to large on the bottom. Gaussian Blur it to blend it a little more.
