[PS 5.0 and above]Master Sword Sig Tutorial
Damn hacking...forced me to remake this tut. Anyway, welcome. Although I put PS 5.0 and above in the title, this tut might work for older versions, however I can't be sure. In this tutorial, you'll learn how to make a sig that looks like this one. ![]() Step 1: Open a new document. This part is quite obvious. The document can be any size. Step 2: Paste your image onto your canvas. Set it to lumnosity at 100% opacity. It should look like this. ![]() Step 3: Duplicate your image and set the duplicate to lighten at 100% opacity. Now it should look like this. ![]() Step 4: Now make a new layer and put a gradient on it that has a dark color and a lighter shade of the same color on it. Set it to soft light at 100% opacity. Click the gradient tool to do this. The sig should look like this now. ![]() Step 5: Now we will make use of the pen tool. Make a new layer and click the freeform pen tool button (click the tiny arrow on the pen tool button to open a selection of pen tool options to find it) and scribble random pen tool lines all over the sig. Motion blur it, then shear it. Go to Filters>Blur>Motion Blur, then Filters>Distort>Shear to do this. Set the layer to hard light at 100% opacity. Your sig should now look like this. ![]() Step 6: Now make another new layer and get out the freeform pen tool again. This time make pen tool lines coming from any corner of the sig. Motion blur it and set it to screen at 100% opacity. Your sig should look like this. ![]() Step 7: Make yet another new layer and put the freeform pen tool on your cursor again. Scribble random pen tool lines on the sig, but not as many as you did in step five. This time blur it, then apply the ripple filter. To do this, go to Filter>Blur>Blur, then Filter>Distort>Ripple. Set it to screen at 100% opacity. It should look like this now. ![]() Step 8: Make one more new layer and get out the freeform pen tool one more time. Then make a couple or a few pen tool lines going from the top to the bottom of anywhere on your sig (just not near the lines you made in step 6). Set the layer to screen at 49% opacity. The sig should look similar to this now. ![]() Step 9: Now add some text and a border if you want and you're finished! ![]() In order to do that kind of border, you have to use the inner glow effect. Now there are two ways you can apply it to the whole sig. You can either merge the layers in the .psd version and then apply the effect or simply apply the effect to the .png version. I would recommend you do it on the .png version so you can still edit the layers on the .psd version. Once applied, set the size to 2 or 3 depending on the version of PS you're using. For PS 5.0 it's 2 and for PS CS2 it's 3. Then lower the opacity or change the blend mode if you want. Then apply the black rectangle on the outside using the rectangle tool if you can. Since PS 5.0 doesn't have it, I had to do this part in Paint, but whether you do it in PS or Paint doesn't matter. And that concludes my tut. I hope you had fun with it. ^^

Very nice tut Yamari. I'm going to try it on some of my sigs myself.

Thanks, Sugarpoultry. It's a fairly easy tut I'm hoping beginners will try out as well.
