[Round two] Dark Waves - Wolfen vs Chance vs Euphoria

Spring Tournament 2009, Round Two - Dark Waves [Wolfen vs Chance vs Euphoria ]

As the battle progresses, just remember that each fight will go on for about 25-30 posts, the character that you chose last round must be used again, and that Councilors characters (for example, in this thread, Kaze) will act as a referee for this thread and maintain balance. Try to keep posts at around 500 words max, and avoid controlling your opponent's character. With all that said, have at it and have fun!

Bic:

Dark waves crash up against the hull of the ship, splashing droplets of water onto the deck and causing the boat to rock most fierce. Though shaken the great vessel stays strong in it's stride. The many holes that riddle it's body take in water yet it does not sink, it does not roll over. No matter how many times the ghastly waves slam into it, nor how many times it runs adrift in a misplaced coral reef the ship moves ever onwards. It seems wherever she be their is a storm above, covering the sun and drenching it's tattered sails. Like something out of a child's horror story this crew less ship does not rest, it's broken Victorian era frame cracked and beaten.

The Archmage of wind found this vessel by chance one day as he flew through the sky, seeing a storm brewing he tried to dispel it to no avail. Still trying as he entered the deep grey clouds he found himself struck by lightning and that too he could not stop. Taken off guard the mage plummeted into the ground landing harshly on this Ghost Ship's deck. Waking from his forced state of unconscious ship he was startled and bemused by the sight. In half curiosity half fear he placed a tracking spell onto the ship and kept it in mind then onwards.

When thinking about where to hold his battle the idea crossed his mind with a devilish smile. After studying the ships movements for sometime he was able to predict it's movements, with that knowledge he gave the three to partake in his experiment the coordinates. Though he told them not what to expect he let them know they would realize their destination when they saw it. It's quite hard to miss among the roaring waves.

Atop the largest mast in the crows nest the Archmage of Wind silently waited. his body was slumped easily against the railing, paying no heed to the harsh movements, with a book in hand that never seemed to get wet, he waited for the combatants to appear and bemuse him for the time that they could.

OoC: Sorry for the wait someone else was supposed to do this battle but they were busy so I took over. It's called a ghost ship, enjoy.

Re: [Round two] Dark Waves - Wolfen vs Chance vs Euphoria

The girl’s black hair twinkled in the firelight. It swayed as she danced, teddy in hand, to an invisible waltz that only she could hear. She twirled and her obsidian locks twirled with her, spiralling with the music in a graceful frenzy. The music got faster, overlapping and turning chaotic within the girl’s fragile mind. She froze and collapsed by the fire. The music in her head had stopped, and only sobs remained. Her hair did not glisten; the fire danced in her tears.

Rosalie opened her eyes, and found that they were dry. She discarded the silly memory of her human life - “What use is it to me now?”- and walked over to her bedside table. In the dim light of the musty hotel room, she read the coordinates on the tiny sheet of paper, and memorized them. She couldn’t tell where her destination was, but it didn’t really matter. The second round of the tournament meant a second chance at penance – a second chance to drain somebody who had done wrong. Getting up, she quashed the candle flame with her finger and thumb, and left the room.

It must have been cold outside, for the few humans that were still wandering about the village were hugging themselves tightly and breathing icy clouds down their coats. Rosalie giggled slightly and buttoned her big leather jacket, just to keep up appearances. In the darkness of the winter night, the vampire felt confident in taking off her big shades and exposing her rippling eyes. She smiled at the beaten-looking man waiting inside the dinghy to take her offshore. He smiled back, but Rose saw the confusion behind his raised lips. Squinting at the meagre lamp sitting on the seat, she stepped into the wooden, rotting thing: one foot, then the other. The sailor fumblingly picked up the oars and they began drifting out to sea.

“I don’t get many ladies like you travelling out in the middle of the night like this,” the old man said. Rosalie grinned charmingly at his wrinkled face and cracked, yellow teeth.

“I’m not like other ladies,” she retorted, barely constraining a flirtatious giggle.

The seadog whistled. “I can see that,” he whooped in a stupefied tone. “Ain’t no girls that I know with eyes like them.”

The flirting stopped. Rose gazed slowly at the man with her big, red eyes and saw no danger. The man was an idiot – a wizened, kindly idiot. The vampire smiled again and said, “Oh, thank you! You are such a kind man.”

“Well thank you, darling. On nights like this you get some real weirdies running around.”

Rose chuckled, then twisted sharply as the boat came to a halt.

“We’re here, darling,” the seadog cooed. “But I do wish you didn’t have to go; it’s so cold and lonely on this here old boat.

Rosalie wasn’t listening. She dropped the façade and gaped as she looked at her destination. Out of Pirates of the Caribbean or Peter Pan or something, someone had dropped a boat into the middle of the ocean. A dense, black cloud constantly poured above it. Suddenly she couldn’t hear the man above the roar of thunder and the constant scream of the rain. She climbed a ladder up the side of the boat, and then sat on the soaked wood. “I suppose I just wait, now…” she trailed to herself.

“One Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippi…”

Re: [Round two] Dark Waves - Wolfen vs Chance vs Euphoria

Taen could not read coordinates. He never learned it in school as it was pointless to him. When am I ever gonna use this? he always thought rhetorically. Well now the day was here that he would need to know this pointless information.

The numbers on the page all blurred into one big, inky mess on the page. The elf tried to see it as some sort of math equation at first, then tried to decipher it by turning the one or two numbers into letters. Both came up with gibberish. Why don't you just ask for directions? Kida suggested. He crumpled the paper between his fingers, noting the pointed edges so that they didn't stab his palms, and tossed it into the corner of the room, half out of frustration. The other half, boredom. He'd find his way.

Getting up out of the stiff old bed and stretching his arms up to the moldy ceiling, he made his way to the door. He breathed in deep as fresh air filled the room and replaced the musty odor of God-knows-what. He paid the hotel clerk for the room and went on. Once outside, he started running, making leaps that were 10, 20, 30 feet long. The elf leaned forward, pushing himself to the point where every step was 50 feet. The summoner pushed the air beneath him, propelling his speed faster than any man could go.

The elf had no idea where he was going, preferring to just let things happen as they happen. If he missed this round of the tournament, it didn't matter to him. He'd just blame it on their poor directions. He never felt lost anymore, even when he had no clue where he was. There wasn't that sense of fear for his life. Only the freedom of being able to go where he chose. A nice contrast to his childhood where he was told what to think and he listened. Not out of love, but fear. But to those people, fear was the heart of love.

A ship appeared on the horizon, and with it a small town. Clouds gather overhead. Rain pours down like someone taking a cold shower. Rumbles of thunder reverberate through the air. As the droplets of rain turned from a mere sprinkling to a total drenching, Taen knew he was getting close to the town. He slowed down to a more human-like jog and blended into the little seaside abode.

The ship was not too far off. Is this where I am supposed to be? The Dragons did not answer at first, preferring to simply glide across his mind and perhaps extending a scaly claw out to the ship. There is no one alive on board, Sirasha told him. Doesn't mean that it is unoccupied he replied. The longer he looked at it the more he felt apprehended by its ominous appearance. The tattered sails and scratched up hull did nothing to scare him away.

People looked on as the elf stepped up to the water, asking if he was mad. They gasped as he jumped in. Next up, he was actually swimming over to the ship. "First that girl, then this guy? Are these people serious?"

Taen took hold of one of the pieces of wood and climbed up the side. The constant rocking of the boat and pounding of the rain made this no small task, but it was still doable. The first thing he saw when he got up there was a beautiful young woman sitting in the rain. Grr, his weakness!

"Hey there," he greeted walking up casually. She met his gaze but showed no opinion on her face of his sudden appearance of the ship. The girl had the most gorgeous, but deadly, red eyes. "What are you doing sitting in the rain?" Taen's voice had an air of sympathy, as if she was a lost little girl. He felt the dragons arch their backs in his mind, ready to fight if this girl made one foul move.

But she was just a girl. What harm could she do?
