[Round 1] Voltage Vendetta - I)ragon vs. Fluesopp

Spring Tournament 2009, Round One - Voltage Vendetta [I)ragon vs Fluesopp]

As the battle progresses, just remember that each fight will go on for about 25-30 posts, the character that you choose for this first round must be the character you use for the entire duration of the tournament, and that Councilors characters (for example, in this thread, my character) will act as a referee for this thread and maintain balance. Try to keep posts at around 500 words max, and avoid controlling your opponent's character. With all that said, have at it and have fun!

IC:

It was a massive structure on the outside; old and rusted, yes, but extremely large enough to hold thousands of rooms. This was no old prison, although it certainly seemed that way from the outside—no massive smokestacks were placed above to give away its true identity. This place was instead a massive factory, producing the unknown and the should-not-be-known, powered by a massive electricity source from inside the structure itself.

Inside the thing was a complete contrast to the outside. The place was filled with stark silver and navy blues, with the dominant colour being blinding white; enhanced by the bright, elongated fluorescent lights that were built into ceilings and along the floors. Along the walls, various silver-painted pipes and wires ran across horizontally, seemingly never ending. From the tiny yellow symbols every few feet, one could see that these pipes were carrying power throughout the whole building... but for what purpose?

The blueprints in Rain’s hands didn’t provide any clues. The only things that were odd were the tiny corridors from time to time that connected to massive, empty rooms. The rooms were painted in white instead of silver; even the pipes were white and the lights lined the floor and high ceiling as usual. These blueprints he held in his hand were simply copies of each other; but each had something different; something added, or something taken away. Usually, the differences were hardly noticeable; a small room added or taken away, a ventilation shaft being erased, a corridor added to nowhere. But in the most recent blueprint, two rooms, medium-sized, were added. One on either end of the building; these two rooms had one teleportation device each and Rain knew that the participants of the coming battle would enter through there: one would come out in one room and the other would come out in the other room that was far away, on the other side of the building.

But that time was a little far from now and Rain was using his extra time to explore the building. Using the blueprints as maps, he made his way around. His curiosity had gotten the better of him; the source of the building’s power was unknown as was the purpose of the building itself.

It was through his curious digging that he found a room. A certain room that had not appeared on the blueprints and was in the basement of the structure. It was not bright, or painted, but dimly lit and bare. And in this room were massive glass containers, all glowing with power; held in these tubes were things that made the Grim Angel smirk. If the fight somehow stumbled into this well hidden room, things would get chaotic, because if at least one of these things break; that would mean trouble for every coming inhabitant of this building.

Re: [Round 1] Voltage Vendetta - I)ragon vs. Fluesopp

”I know, I know. Don’t push!”
The blue light made a sudden jolt toward Aronin as he was brutally poked forwards with the guard staff, wielded by a most agile, and truly attractive, female soldier. He turned around to catch a glimpse of the nymph, only to receive a whack to the head, before the blue teleportation light engulfed him, and blurred his vision.

“That hurt, you know,” he shouted at her as he started to dissolve, and reform miles and miles away. Teleportation was a strange, and intriguing concept for Aronin. The idea was to dissolve matter, and reform it somewhere else, while still remaining conscious. The physics behind it didn’t matter. After all, physics never seemed to matter nowadays, and of course, this was the magical dimension, where the powerful Dome was located.

But nevertheless, it was the first time Aronin had actually used the blue teleporter and as he was halfway through the process, he could both feel the humid atmosphere from the lake on his upper body, and the dry, dusty and almost electrical air in his unknown destination. He blinked at the nymph that had guided him to the teleporter, and closed his eyes as the dissolving part reached his eyes. They had such an attractive power, a special charm over men… And yet, they were so violent.

He opened his eyes as the blue light disappeared, and had to stand still for a few seconds before he was actually able to see clearly in the dark room. The teleportation device had turned silent, a clear reminder that there was no way back. In this tournament, there was a fight for life, and a struggle for death, whatever that meant.

Now then, onto the battle. I do wonder whom I might get the chance to measure power against, the telekinetic thought to himself as he held up a hand filled with glowing plasma towards the ceiling, to get a clear view of the room. It was filled with electrical wires; all connected to the teleportation exit, though none seemed to be active. It was clearly a new addition to an already existing building Aronin deducted and exited, fighting his urge to properly investigate the teleportation device.

He looked around the new room, a big, strongly lit, and dusty room, and braced himself by solidifying the air around himself, creating a barrier of sorts.

“Hello? Are there anyone here?” he shouted, preparing for a sneak attack.

Nothing happened.

“Well, this is too bad,” the telekinetic muttered to himself and proceeded to the next room.

OoC: How is the posting order?

Re: [Round 1] Voltage Vendetta - I)ragon vs. Fluesopp

Akira smacked her lips pleasantly as she rolled over in her sleep and fell off the teleporter, which only stood a few inches off the ground. She probably would have stayed asleep if she hadn't kept rolling and ended up pulling one of her wing under her in an uncomfortable manner. The blue skinned demon let out a small squeak and adjusted herself to her back, spreading her leathery wings out over her head and stretching her arms and legs much like a cat would have, letting out an adorable little yawn in the proccess. Propping herself up with her wings, the ice demon squinted her eyes against the blinding light that filled the room. Or maybe it was more of a stark white, but it still wasn’t an ideal shade to look at when you just woke up. Whoever had moved her to this room while she was sleeping was obviously not very considerate.

Aside from that, Akira didn’t think much of it, like any rational human most likely would have. While her new surroundings were fascinatingly different then anything she had seen before on her travels, how she got there had barely crossed her mind.

“Helloooo~!” Akira’s ears twitched and swiveled as her voice echoed off the walls. After a few seconds it was apparent that there was no one in her vicinity. The only sounds that her keen ears could make out came from the low hum of the complex and her own soft breathing. Hopping to her feet, the neko skipped over to a nearby wall to examine the wires and pipes. She then placed her head on the ground to figure out where the light source was coming from, but found nothing spectacular. Sitting against the wall, Akira looked over the rest of the room, but everything looked exactly the same. The only thing that stood out was the circular platform she had been sleeping on a similar structure situated directly above on the ceiling. To her left, a white corridor extended to more of the same.

To investigate the strange installation more thoroughly, and to keep her company, Akira decided to bring out her little friend. Clasping a six inch sapphire dagger tucked away in the back of her belt, the ice innate placed the jeweled hilt on the ground in front of her and placed her finger on the tip of the blade to keep it balanced. Layers of ice extended out from the dagger in a teardrop fashion. Soon enough, the blade was entirely encased in ice and had started to sprout arms and legs. A loud crack sounded as two large spherical indents appeared where it’s eyes would be, had it any actual need for them, and the ice creature promptly sprung to life, the sapphire blade protruding just barely out from the top of the ice being.

Akira couldn’t help but giggle as her new friend twirled and waved its little arms, apparently overjoyed to be alive. The small ice creature then darted out into the hallway. Whither it intended to run away from it’s creator, or to play a game of cat and mouse, no one could be certain, but one thing was; Akira would have a marry old time bounding after her little icy companion in her new environment.

Re: [Round 1] Voltage Vendetta - I)ragon vs. Fluesopp

Aronin walked quickly through room after room filled with tubes, wires and other unnecessary appendages hanging from the roof. Some rooms were long, some short, some wide and some thin, but all the rooms seemed to have the same feel, white, electric and dry and Aronin couldn’t help with thinking he was being kept under surveillance wherever he went by some hidden cameras. It was just that type of building for such devices.

A sound caught his attention, tiny footsteps on the metallic floor echoing from beyond another corridor. Finally, he thought and moved towards the sound. Even here, so far away from his entry point, the rooms looked just the same, and Aronin had to concentrate to not walk in circles. The sound came closer and Aronin observed how the sound was too light and quick for a regular human; they obviously belong to a small creature with short legs.

A small drop shaped creature ran past a doorway. Aronin stopped in disbelief of his opponent. Was that little creature which bobbed along the hallway his opponent? He raised a brow as the creature returned to the opening and looked at him. The joy it had shown when running past previously was now completely gone, replaced by panic of some sorts. It quickly darted in the direction it had initially came from, making a strange squealing noise, almost appearing afraid, and Aronin quickly ran afterwards. But the creature was fast for its small size, and Aronin had a hard time trying to catch up with him.

But as he rounded a corner, he just caught up with it, and exploded it with a telekinetic explosion, shattering it into water.

“Oh,” someone exclaimed surprised as they rounded the corner. Aronin looked up as he realized the girl standing in front of him. She was a girl, that he could see, but the other features confused him. She was blue, that was one thing, then there was the cat ears and the tail, he had faced one of those before, but then there was the wings… Cat, blue, wings…

“Eh..” he muttered as he tried to figure out what she was.

Re: [Round 1] Voltage Vendetta - I)ragon vs. Fluesopp

Akira's ears drooped, her tail curled, and her leathery wings shrank. To top it off, her bottom lip quivered ever so slightly. It’s not like she couldn’t just make another one in the time it took her to sulk, but like many things that should be common sense to the neko by now, the information didn’t quite register.

Her new friend had just been splattered into a million pieces and the sapphire dagger had performed a couple of flips in the air before embedding itself in the ground at her feet. Akira sank to her knees melodramatically. “You did not have to kill him you know...” She whimpered in a voice that could bring a grown man to tears. Reaching out with her hand, the demon touched the hilt of the dagger tenderly, almost as if it were the only remaining fragment of a lost friend.

A faint glow emanated from the crystalline pommel of the weapon and a silvery frost radiated from the blade. Cracking and popping sounded as a jagged tendril of ice extended out from the dagger along the white floor, quickly building into a massive stalagmite that struck viciously towards the darkly clad man. The black haired youth instinctively threw his arms up to defend himself from the assault as the icy protrusion shattered against an unseen barrier. Streams of mist and shards of ice shot in all directions, filling the air. Almost immediately after meeting resistance, the intensity of the ice barrage was increased tenfold. Frozen streams spread out from the ground where the dagger lay embedded and a fierce wave of ice emanated and crashed down upon the murderer of ice minions.

Akira blinked against the mist and ice that had conveniently failed to harm her in any way, as frozen shards lay embedded in the ground about her. She was always pleasantly surprised when a winter wonderland would suddenly manifest itself around her. The blue skinned girl cocked her head to the side as the mist started to clear, distractedly waiting to see if the offender had survived the onslaught.

Re: [Round 1] Voltage Vendetta - I)ragon vs. Fluesopp

”What the…”

Such force, that his barrier had frozen over and shattered… Aronin blinked in his awkward position, bending backwards with an icy spike just a few inches away from his face, not expecting to be attacked by full force on the first meeting. But, he had escaped the icy grasp, so she couldn’t be that powerful, he thought as the icy spike broke with the snap of a finger.

“So, I assume that’s all you got?” he said as he made a horizontal motion with his arm. The wall of ice that was previously his barrier shattered and revealed the blue demon again. “Well, that’s too bad, because I didn’t even get scratched.”

He took a step forwards, and had to catch himself to not fall over due to his feet being frozen to the ground. “What.. Frozen..”

Aronin flicked his fingers, to which the ice shoot away from the feet and hang motionless in the air as pieces of glass. “Let’s see how you can handle being attacked by your own power!” he said as they shoot at the winged girl with another flick of his fingers.

“And if that’s not enough,” he started and engulfed his hands in blue hot plasma, “then I got some more, just for you!”

Re: [Round 1] Voltage Vendetta - I)ragon vs. Fluesopp

In less than thirty seconds, the plain white corridor had been transformed into a shimmering ice cavern. Icicles hung delicately from the ceiling while pillars of ice sculpted the walls, reflecting a brilliant, multi colorful light all around. Akira just sat in the middle of it all, catching snowflakes on her tongue and idly toying with her sapphire blade.

All at once, her world shattered as the wall of ice before her busted apart from the inside. In its place stood the young man, who’s pale skin contrasted greatly against his dark hair and attire.

“So, I assume that’s all you got?” He spoke, demanding quite a presence about him, or at least, he did in Akira’s eyes. “Well, that’s too bad, because I didn’t even get scratched.” Akira shrank slightly before him. She wasn’t very good at handling intimidation.

“What.. Frozen..” The man almost fell forward before catching himself. Snapping his fingers, the ice at his feet shattering and flew into the air, hanging there under his own power. “Let’s see how you can handle being attacked by your own power!” The telekinetic exclaimed as the ice shards darted through the air towards the young demon.

“And if that’s not enough,” He started as cloudy blue energy emanated from his hands, “then I got some more, just for you!”

The winged girl flinched and shut her eyes tight as the shards of ice shattered into harmless silvery dust around her. After a moment, she peaked out through the mist that had become her opponents assault. Barely detoured by the failure of his first attack, the bad man advanced towards her. Why was he doing this? Wasn’t it enough already that he had exploded her ice minion? She couldn’t understand it. Not wanting to waist another minute to see what the unsightly aggressive person had planned, Akira bolted in the opposite direction.

Re: [Round 1] Voltage Vendetta - I)ragon vs. Fluesopp

Wha.. Aronin paused for a moment before taking chase after the blue winged girl. Why was she not intent on fighting? After all, this was a tournament, and as far Aronin was aware, every participant should know they were in one. Or was she just afraid? A weaker opponent? The actualities didn’t really matter to Aronin right there and then as he shoot several balls of plasma at the girl, who barely dodged as she passed the corners.

“Hoy! Demon girl!” Aronin shouted as she dodged yet another plasma ball. “Why aren’t you fighting back?” There was no answer, and as Aronin passed the corner, she had disappeared into thin air.

“Hey! Come back!” he shouted down the corridors, but to no avail, she was probably many corridors away from him now. Why couldn’t he get an opponent who could actually fight back, or at least show that they were doing it? There is nothing to be gained from chasing her down, he thought and sat down in the corridor to rest. He was not a very physical fit person, and all the running made him pant hard, something he cursed himself for.

A loud bang of metal slamming against metal echoed through the hallways, and Aronin stood up immediately, expecting to find the girl meddling with some of the devices in this facility. But instead of a continuously noise, there was only silence afterwards, not even the sound of something more happening.

Carefully, Aronin went towards where he thought he sound had to be coming from. It was clear the ice demon had passed the area as there were some few small pits of water from melted ice here and there. But, as he suddenly noticed, the small water pits had suddenly stopped…

Backtracking a bit until he found them again, he found the place they disappeared, into a wall. A hidden door perhaps? Aronin knocked on the wall with his fist, and a hollow sound returned the hits and confirmed his theory. But a hidden door was of no use. The trick was just to find the opening mechanism, and trigger it, which obviously the blue demon girl had done.

Or, one could just destroy the opening mechanism, and push open the door, which was a much more efficient way in Aronin’s opinion. And just as he thought it, a muffled clank was heard from the wall, and the door flew out of its resting place, synchronized with the movement of Aronin’s fingers.

The next corridor was dark and gloomy, and Aronin felt something evil had been released with his sudden entrance. As he stepped up to the entrance, he could feel a cold breeze on his feet which Aronin took as a sign the ice girl was there. And if she were there, he would force her to fight for once.

As the main room opened, he got a glimpse of a blue figure, which he immediately fired off an explosive burst of telekinesis towards. She dodged, and the blast hit the tank behind, shattering it, and Aronin immediately knew something was wrong.
