[Round 1] White Moon

OoC: Boo-yakka!

BiC:

A silver medallion held itself high in the night, a fair contrast to the harsh light of day that burned your skin and blinded the eyes of those who look into its source for too long. The stench of spilled blood still lingered in the air after all these years. Innocent screams and harsh laughter still echoed along the long abandoned streets, the town a remnant of a war long passed.

Even then, there was a presence, hunters, ten of them, gathering together in a small building, waiting for their final moments of humanity. For the moon was full that night, and their hour of transformation drew near. Their eyes, a beautiful combination of gold, crimson, and bronze, stayed fixated on the moon, their faces motionless and without feeling.

The white moon slowly moved up to the center of the sky, shifting between the thin clouds that circled it. Moonlight streamed down from the heavens into the eyes of the hunters below, beginning the transformation. Their mouth and jaws took form, stretching outward, monstrous fangs reaching out into the air. Their bodies twisted and turned into the form of a giant, beastly wolf, black fur donning their backs. The pack leader lifted his head and called out to the night air.

The vampire’s ears pricked at the sound of the lycan’s’ call. His mouth curved upward into a grim smile, his fangs white and sharp on the edge of his lips. He could easily have killed them while they were still human, but he knew tonight was a full moon, and he could not resist the temptation of battle against a pack of werewolves. He stood at the empty doorway, many meters above the ground. He sniffed the air, the foul stench of those dogs wrinkling his nose.

Veltian raised his left hand into the air, the crystal imbedded into his palm shining dim red in the night. The beast had awoken, and the hunt had begun.

Re: [Round 1] White Moon

First post in a while.

----

An owl’s sharp screech pierced the silence of the moonlit night as Latio and his ‘pet’ strode toward the next village. I can’t stay in one place too long. The risk of being found out is too great. The foxfolk listened to the river’s rush pleasantly and picked up the pace a bit, though not necessarily running, and a cool breeze passed him by.

The small town downstream had a strange rumour to go with it, however. The villagers there were spoken of as thieves, criminals, and murderers. But it was said they got worse at the moon’s brightest, and though Latio could not see the silvery-blue sphere, he could tell instinctively that it was at it’s fullest. Something beyond the vileness of man would become reality there, this night.

The stream slowed down, and narrowed into a set of metal bars, surrounded by a somewhat unreliable wooden wall. As he passed through one of the four compass-oriented gates, notably the southernmost, and onto a tightly cobbled street, dividing the town’s houses into blocks. The scent of blood lingered in the air, though it was stale, as if to tell a history of the town. The streets were made of stone, with wooden barricades hastily added on, some intact, most splintered, or smashed in.

A wolf’s howl brought Latio to attention, and he detected the sound of something very large running toward him, at an alarming speed for such a creature.

The fox’s unseeing eyes widened: werewolves!

Re: [Round 1] White Moon

Tp... Tp... Tp... CRUNCH!

Valdaria cursed under her breath as she stepped onto a shrivelled twig, the noise potentially betraying her position to anyone listening. Looking around, she pulled her black cloak tighter around her and resumed walking. She was on the road again as per usual, not really paying much attention to where she was heading, indifference and instinct her only compass.

An unexpected smell wafted through the moist air of the conifer forest, a scent she was thoroughly unfamiliar with. The trees began to thin out as she continued, and diluted slivers of moonlight started to filter between their trunks. An inhuman howl broke the silence, sending a few startled night-birds flying fearfully above the forest canopy. Her ears pricking up with interest, she picked up the pace towards the source of the sound.

Reaching the outer rim of the forest, she found herself on a low rise, overlooking what appeared to be a small town. On closer inspection with her keen eyesight, she saw that there were no lights whatsoever, and that a large number of the buildings were broken and derelict; the town seemed to be utterly abandoned and left to its fate.

The full moon glowed majestically as she reclined on her perch amidst the clouds, a silver halo adorning her crown. Valdaria's ashen complexion almost glistened in the moonlight, so she pulled the hood of her cloak lower, concealing her from any prying eyes. She gave another look at the town ahead and started heading towards it, more out of boredom and curiosity rather than need. But even so, she wasn't about to pass off a meal if one was to be offered.

Standing before one of the town's gates, a haphazard wooden construction barely clinging on its hinges, she pushed one of the doors aside and entered. She found herself walking along a cobbled street, her heavy boots making a sharp thump at every step that echoed between the dilapidated buildings. Sniffing the night air once more, she noticed that unfamiliar scent getting ever stronger, and her lips curled up into a grin.

A disturbance suddenly resounded from the centre of the town, the stomping of massive feet and fast, sporadic movements, as if a pack of beasts were preparing for attack. Smirking, she moved one hand towards the hilt of her sword and continued unhindered towards the town's nexus.

Re: [Round 1] White Moon

Esdon glanced warraly across the town it appeared to be mostly destroyed by war even the section of wall he stood on appeared to have suffered from damage. Esdon continued his gaze over the town spotting many high points from which he could balance on and keep well away from the ground. Then it happened a long low howl from the middle of the town and jugging by the fact that there was a full moon up it wasn't wolfs or dogs. Esdon jumped to a half destroyed wall and balance there carfully while looking up at the unatural moon it was bright enough to blind those with normal eyes which his were not. Esdon knew what he was facing and as normal he was well equipt and ready for anything these creatures these werewolfs could throw at him.

Esdon jumped from wall to roof to any other high point he could find along his route to the center of the town. He was ready to fight with his cloak folded up and his bow out with an arrow knocked already with a silver tipped arrow. These beasts fear silver and so he had his protection and because of his race he was immune to there bites.

As esdon approached the center of town he heard the sound of foot falls and much fighting. The air reacked of fur and blood and the land stank of evil esdon knew he was in for a fight. He landed ontop of a church in the square looking down he saw an unusal man fighting the werewolfs beneath him and by the dead bodies had already killed two. Esdon smiled as he glanced a woman wearing a cloak down the street heading towards the square and by the sound of foot falls his sharp ears could hear there was anouther heading for the square.
"So then let the battle begin" esdon mumbled to himself as he took aim at one of the werewolfs and fired with an arrow that flew straight and true, this arrow would not miss.

Re: [Round 1] White Moon

The large, charging beasts approached their proportionately tiny foxfolk prey, their claws extended to their fullest. Latio stood his ground, preparing to defend himself. I’ll surprise the leader with a flame to the face, that’ll keep him out of commission, at least until I take down some of the others in the confus--- –Thwip!- and the distinct sound of and arrow through the neck resounded in Latio’s ears. A werewolf’s body thumped onto the stone, and the rest of the pack turn to look at the slayer.

A white-clad man, clothing glowing in the pale moonlight, stood atop the town’s central clock tower, a second arrow already nocked in his rather bland bow, a great contrast to the rest of his attire. He fired once more, taking down another one of the great beasts. Forgetting about the foxfolk, the rest of the pack, numbering as many as a dozen, rushed towards the clock tower, quickly arriving, and they started to climb.

Without the loud, obnoxious noises of the lycans, Latio focused his hearing on his surroundings. If there’s one, there’s probably more. From the west he heard a distant crunch a twig makes when one steps on it…

That arrow guy seems more friend than foe, I don’t think he’s an enemy, but this other person… might not even be a person. The wolves, climbing the tower, were difficult to hit with the longbow, and Latio went to help his saviour.

Re: [Round 1] White Moon

Esdon glanced down at the wolfs slowly climbing the tower and released anouther two arrows in rapid successtion sending two more wolfs falling to there doom.

Esdon knew at the rate of there climbing one would reach him if he didn't start firing mutable arrows at once. Just then a strange wolf man appeared at the base of the tower and started to attack the wolfs with what seemed to be claws but esdon ignored this as he had problems of his own, esdon thought as he fired two arrows in one shot and saw two more wolfs fall to there doom.

Then esdon heared a howl and all the wolfs on the tower jumped straight up and were all above esdon's head and looked to be all heading straight for him with there teeth beared and claws ready to rip him to shreads. As they approached esdon made his wings appear and flew straight upwards with all the speed he had which due to the sonic boom the top of the tower was ripped to shreads leaving the wolfs landing in a mess of splinted wood. As esdon stopped a good 100 metres above the tower he looked down seeing the wolfs dark eyes starring at him from amounst the towers remains esdon smiled and dove straight at them at full speed for he had a something planned for them.

Esdon keeped his speed till just before he hit the tower where he stopped suddenly causing anouther sonic boom that sent all the wolfs on top of the tower flying in a mess of fur. Esdon landed gentally and smiled as he saw the wolfs landed all of the ruined town he knew they would either hunt him angryly for revenge or stay away from him fearing what he can do but just like any warrior esdon preffered his foes to be able to fight.

Re: [Round 1] White Moon

The sounds of battle reverberated between the abandoned buildings as Valdaria approached the town square. Her eyes widened slightly as she saw the towering beasts spread through the city on the hunt for food, and her lips curled up into a smile. Then she saw a strange fox-like creature in their midst, getting quickly surrounded by the pack.

Before she could react, however, she saw an arrow striking one of the werewolves, and she quickly stepped under the cover of a building as she spied the nearby rooftops. Atop the bell-tower of the church across the square, there stood a man completely garbed in white, a bow in his hands. As she observed him, the man nocked a second arrow and fired once more, his aim once again flawless. Valdaria made a mental note to be wary of him, because although arrows had little chance of killing a vampire, they would most certainly hurt.

The werewolves had started to climb the church tower, and even though the man finished off several of them from afar, they were closing in at an alarming rate. Much to Valdaria's surprise, a pair of pearly white wings extended from his back, and then he shot off with inconceivable speed.

The force of the sonic boom sent her reeling as her sensitive ears were pounded by the sound waves, forcing her to lean against a nearby wall to steady herself as she looked up at the instigator of the disturbance, now soaring high above them all. His wings glowed with an ethereal light, almost matching the moon in sheer brilliance as he hovered above the now ruined tower.

Arching an eyebrow at the man's smile, she covered her ears as he saw him plummeting towards the remains of the tower, and her precautions were justified as another sonic boom swept over her as he came to an abrupt halt. The wolves which had been perched upon the church were tossed off, landing with thunderous crashes as the paved ground beneath them cracked and shattered under their weight.

As the man looked down triumphantly, she decided that she was missing out on all the action, lowering the hood of her cloak; she stepped out into the fray, her pale complexion illuminated perfectly under the full moon. At once, one of the werewolves spotted her, and after giving a threatening snarl, the beast rushed at her at break-neck speed.

Valdaria waited until the very last minute, then side-stepped as the lumbering mass rushed past her and slammed into the side of a building, causing part of it to collapse. Chucking the rubble away as if it was foam, the werewolf got to its feet once more and lunged at her again. The vampiress jumped into the air, causing the beast to crash into the ground instead, and stomped hard on its back as she came back down.

Roaring in pain, the werewolf jumped to its feet abruptly in an attempt to throw her off his back, but she held on tightly, her hands clasping tuffs of thick fur roughly. Before the beast could do anything, Valdaria's fangs sang deep into the side of its neck, drinking hungrily. Giving another roar of agony, the beast squirmed about desperately, trying to get her off, but she held on relentlessly. Running out of options, the creature slammed its back roughly against a wall.

Groaning in protest, but still hanging on, Valdaria realised she had to end the struggle while she still had the upper hand. Forcing her teeth even further into its neck and clenching her jaw, she pulled with all the strength she could muster and ripped off part of the beast's neck. Blood immediately spewed out of the ruptured jugular vein, staining most of her face with deep crimson, the fur around the wound matted and drenched as the liquid flowed uninhibited.

The werewolf gave several whimpers in the few seconds it had to live, before those feral eyes rolled up and the towering mass fell limp against the ground. Valdaria got up and dusted herself off and walked back into the open as she licked her lips clean. Bringing a hand to her face she wiped most off the blood off and brought her hand to her lips to slowly lap up every last drop of the still warm liquid.
