A person doesn't have to be particularly skilled to write. While there certainly is more depth in a more "mature" writer, that doesn't mean that a "noob" has nothing to offer. And good luck trying to get an "elder" to consistantly write in a thread...

Hahaha, I really think I would. I'm on a lot, I'm a fast, yet observing reader, I'm good at noticing little mistakes and errors even when I read fast, and I have the time to do this. And this is while I'm a college student. So I have a life AND the time.

Hahahha, that's why most of the approvers accepted the responsibility. They thought the same thing.

I would like to state I entirely agree with Admiral Black.

Quote:
Navi: It isn't newbies I dislike. It's noobs. A newb and a noob are two different things. A newb is just someone who is new. A noob is a new person who is stupid and continuously makes bad and stupid posts. Basically, a newb can be cool and intelligent, a noob can't.
Also, do you just make up this stuff on the spot? Is it a madlib generator?

The beauty of the Dome is that it's OPTIONAL. If you shove it down their throats, we'll have no new BAers, then the EH will stagnate and die due to everyone leaving when life gets in the way.

Also, it means more work for Mediators and Teachers. Approving some of these characters is sickening enough... imagine having to put up with another Mathlz-caliber character. x_X

Dude, if you're having issues with threads, you should PM or VM someone who you think would be fun to RP with. I've never had issues with threads specifically adressed to certain members.

Re: The EH Needs a BIG Improvement

This all seems awesome in theory, but nearly everything about these ideas will flop. Although I also agree that character approval should be more strict than it is, I don't think these are good plans.

These sample RPs/battles should be short and sweet since our council members and mods have lives of their own.
This simply won't work. Assuming you mean even just that member's first character, that test battle would take up far too much time on both the creator and the approver's part. As it stands, just by reading a character's profile you can get a pretty good idea where their writing skill stands. Besides, the approvers don't want to critique an entire battle. They just critiqued their profile! It's not needed.

This is the idea I have to disagree with the most. I can almost guarantee you that nearly every member who is forced to go to school before posting will drop out before even visiting their homeroom. No one wants to be forced to go to school, that's what makes school sucky to begin with. The Dome is fun because you attend on your own free will.

Again, no. The idea of forcing someone into the dome just doesn't sit right with me. I personally don't see it ever happening.

Yeah, and the moment these rule breakers are busted they're just going to leave. Why not just say that all bad writers can't write and all good writers can? Besides, this isn't a writing forum, this is a role playing forum. While thankfully a good deal of us are good writers (you're not looking hard enough), the main thing we need to worry about is getting our ideas down on paper clearly and accurately.

It seems so innocent and easy when you say it like that. xD

But every newbie is a lot of newbies. Just about everyone who isn't being forced into the Dome would have to become character approvers in order for this to even come close to working... then again, maybe not because no one will be wanting to join if we're too strict. xP

The Dome will only be gaining activity from those few newbies who haven't given up already, yet even those few are going to be complaining and probably never make it out. As it is right now the teachers take a while to get to their students. They can't be expected to give these newbies priority simply because they're not allowed to post yet.

Haha, this makes no sense at all, you know that.

Here's an example of why:
"Why, I had just posted in an thread that I was expected too because it was my turn to use my character to further the story."

Notice how the above quote didn't say 'Role-play', although that was obviously what he was talking about.

I would also like to mention, as the only active teacher(Sorry Zorolo xP) that making every newbie join the dome would kill my video gaming time, and drive me insane. Overall I am not up for a work increase.

The thing about the OoC thread is that you have to KEEP asking. If you ask once, odds are all the people wanting to battle at the moment are off doing other things. I also find you get better results if you ask a specific person directly. They might not be looking for an RP or battle, but if you bring the idea to them they might be willing.

Yeah, perhaps a lot of this wasn't a good idea at all, I wish I could come up with something better, but it's too late for me to think that hard. xP

I was only trying to help anyway. Thanks for actually being courteous about this, Quark, unlike a lot of people in this thread. :]

Puck is only one androgynous android! Even if not everyone acknowledges the fact that this won't work, he would be able to handle the intensity of the influx of the quantum capacitator noobs.

Edit: HI BEEJAY, WELCOME TO THE HUMBLE ABODE OF THE EH. IT ISN"T AS PRETTY AS THE GRAPHICS FORUM THO. ARE YOU STARTING THE FROZEN/BEEJAY TAKEOVER NOW?
