BA'ers! What're your inspirations?

What gets you in the mood of writing? Or making new characters? Is there someone who you look up to, that you look at as a role model, who is an awesome writer, and you inspire to be like them? Is there anyone significant in your life that has caused you to get more into writing, or even better at it?

Tell us! I'm interested to know.

And sorry if this is inappropriate for this forum, but in my mind I see no problem with it.

So, yes. Commence with your inspirational sharing.

As for myself. I remember two significant people. I started out on a forum called FFGON (Final Fantasy Gods Oblivion Network), back when I was about thirteen. When I first started I was a horrible writer, as you can imagine. However, two older friends of mine (prettypoison and Sephiroth were their usernames) were utterly amazing writers, especially when it came to roleplaying. They'd blow your socks off - or at least leave you very impressed.

I've been writing stories since I can remember, and thinking of character and story ideas as well, but these two people totally taught me more than anyone else that I can remember. I owe much of my 'skill' to them.

Weirdly enough, writing is what gets me in the mood for writing. If I need to write about my Sister characters, I'll read the posts I've made which have them, or if possible, I'll write about them in some other way first.

All I need to make new characters is inspiration. R'keltera was inspired by a few friends of mine - I joined their personalities together - but later split them apart when making The Sisters. Tatek took inspiration from several manga I read, while the one I'm currently working on is quite random, as it's just how I think about the mind (and then I developed and changed this a bit).

And the person who most inspires me to do better with my writing would probably prefer I didn't say who they are, as they are afraid of their own ego.

Reading usually gets me in the writing mood. I believe it was my flowing creative juices after reading Brisingr that made Theo. (His staff took inspiration from Eragon's in the beginning. ^_^)

I also wrote an action story after reading Quantam of Solace but that hasn't really done anything because I'm not all that happy with it.

So books and movies, I guess.

My BA stuff is loosely baserd upon concepts form my other wrks. They themselves are influenced in different ways, through games, (Fina Fantasy VII's Materia for example) while rtwork sets my mind going, (Daemons and Necrons form Warhammer 4ok, and Fallout) But alot of it I like to think comes form my wn head

I listen to music, and try to pick some songs that match what I'm trying to write about.
Like a song with a good beat for fighting.

That, or I just write when I come up with a good idea, and go with it. Or imagine what my character could do in the scenario.

I just have too much imagination to keep it contained in my head, so I use it and write it down. Coming up for whatever for either the BA or for a story is really easy for me, and I can't pinpoint exactly what it is that inspires me or motivates me to write. It just happens to me.
