The Battle Arena Newbies' Thread

Yeah.... What are the 'elders' doing? I have no idea.... Procrastination much, I guess.. Also, I think they are doing something to revamp the Battle School.

I hope so. There's like...seven people (including me) who are being ignored there. WE MUST BAN TOGETHER TO BREATHE LIFE BACK INTO THIS OLD SOCK THEY CALL THE BA!

The Crossroads is a joke. It's absurd to try and segregate our writing. As far as I'm concerned, we only need one BA forum.

Hi, everybody! Name's Aeo.

I had a character approved a while ago, used him for, say, 2 post in the Dome, and then, due to some unfortunate circumstance, haven't really posted since.

I'm hoping to get active in the Escapists' Haven soon, but I want to make a fresher character. As soon as I get him approved, I'm gonna get a battle going.

protip: don't battle other characters, better stay on the crossroads for a while

. . . How is that? You can battle with a new character just fine, so long as you don't put him up against a powered-up guy that's been around forever.

It simply doesn't work cause both people playing will try to win

And that is the difference between a good and a bad writer. Some of the most enjoyable fights were those I lost on purpose.

I've done the same. Also My RPing often becomes a blend of both.

I'm lockx and I'm new to the Rp section of ZeldaUniverse. however I roleplay on other sites and have at least a modest amount of experience. I suppose all I need to do is get a character approved so that I can join some of the other sections. I'll have to write up a character sheet for my main character.

If you want I can link you to some that I've done. But regardless I'll be around. I'm one of those people who'll post and post longish but can take my time about it. feel free to challenge me.

You established the Battle School. I think you're qualified by default. If you're rusty, just jump in. RPing is a skill you never really lose.

Well...here goes....

I'm Stryder...and....I'm an alcho- I mean, I'm a newbie to RPing.

I'm not at all new to writing, as I've written a fair few short stories and have come up with a few book ideas that I want to work on, though I haven't worked on any of those for some time now.

I really really want to start some RPing, like RIGHT NOW, ha. I've had my first character approved (see my sig); I've also applied to enter the Dome, though I'm hoping to join an RP at the same time because I'm impatient to start. xD I don't know how to start one though, otherwise I would, so really I'm just waiting for an Open RP to come up in the crossroads. I plan on completing my time in the Dome before I try out the BA, though.

So yeah. Someone RP me! >.<

You might want to reconsider not going near the Battle Arena until after finishing your time at the Dome; surprisingly few people finish there, and it always takes a long time. Not even the teachers there always have finished.

Good luck though, and join in the fun in the OoC thread; that's where all us procrastinators go.

Hm, really? Well I'll definitely be looking at the Crossroads first. That's where I can't wait to get involved. I think it prudent to get familiar with it before I hit up the BA.

I'd actually say the BA is a bit easier than the Crossroads... but... then again it might not be. I mean it's a lot less complex as it's merely a battle between your character and someone else's (usually), but you still have to go through the process of worrying about controlling the other writer's character too much. With the Crossroads, everyone's on the same side (sometimes), but there's a lot more to worry about. Regardless, I picture both of them the same... pretty much.

If you don't have any luck finding an open Crossroads RP, I suggest requesting to RP with someone in the OoC thread. You won't always get a response, especially if you haven't gotten to know anyone just yet, but most of us don't bite. We like to RP with newbies from time to time... just... I personally can't do so at the moment, due to already being swamped with RP and Battle commitments. xP Last I heard Crystal was looking to RP with someone. You might try her, I dunno.

Welcome to the Escapist Haven! (Most of us just call it the BA) Enjoy your stay, do some damage, have a few adventures.

Yeah, that's what I figured about a Battle; I need to figure out the etiquette behind such a thing. (O_o) I figured that if I could get a little help from someone with experience I could learn as I go. The Crossroads style thing seem to be a little more similar to my style of writing and what I've done before, though. It also seems a lot more interesting, to me.

Well, I'll check out the OoC soon enough. I'm like a ninja; you may not see me but I'll be there, and then BAM SHURIKEN to the THROAT!!
