Feel free to join everyone in the OoC thread, although that isn't as active at the moment as it usually is. Only a page or two of posts per day.

EDIT: Oh, wow. I misread your name for a bit. I'm sure you'll see the humor in it being read as "Aishiteru". I blame being in the middle of learning Japanese. Please excuse the apparent freudian slip (even though it wasn't actually one).

but I basically mix 2 words
aishi from "i love you"
and misu from "blacksmith"
so it won't have a translation and could be considered a name

Huh. None of the translations of blacksmith it the dictionary I use translate any part of it as misu. :/ (does that mean it's the misu in ブラクスミス?)

I have a question.What does it mean to get your character upgraded, and how do you do it? I've look in a couple of the BA stickies on BA help and stuff, but I can't find anything.

exactly, the jap version of blacksmith (english word) so I took only the smith part: sumisu, removed the su and added to Aishi, that I removed from Aishi.teru (can't type s h i t)

It real easy. You use your characters in battle/RPs. After a few of them you'll notice hopefully that you know more about them or that they have changed a bit. When and if your character changes enough to where their no longer up to date. You can rewrite their profile and get it re-approved.

Dude, if I had known this thread existed, I would have posted eons ago! (Technically however, this thread hasn't been around THAT long). Will someone please explain to me how a BA thing actually works? Is it an actual adventure or just a bunch of shoot-em-up jazz?

Depending on what you mean by that second bit, it could be a bit of both. Take my character Tera as an example:

First I entered an open battle, to get the hang of the place. It didn't turn out very battle-ish, but it did lead to my character being split in half, which is important plot-wise.

I enrolled one of the halves in The Dome (the one I called Raven), and the other half - Tera - travelled to a seaside town in a Crossroads RP which I specifically organised with Librairian. I forecast it to be interesting, but not life-altering for Tera. It's not finished yet.

I've also made a few Character Fiction pieces, which detail what happens when the fragments of Tera meet up with eachother.

Most recently, I started another Crossroads RP with HitokiriChibi, which details Tera's journey into the dream realm, and the further splitting of her consciousness.


So yeah. There're lots of separate bits I've done, but most - notably not all though - tie together into one big storyline. There are also a few RPs and battles I've started which never got finished for one reason or another, but I merely discounted them from the characters' canon when I realised they would never continue.

Did that make sense?

Yes and no. That makes the Crossroad and BA sound entirely interchangable.

BA as in Battle Arena? (Many people here use the term "BA" to refer to the escapists' Haven as a whole)

Well they are, to a certain degree. I must admit though that I'm rather bad at writing battles and fights, but it is true that Battle Arena RPs tend to have less connection to a character's plot on average. For example, I never originally intended to split Tera in that first fight, but instead wanted to do it later on in a Crossroads. Circumstances just happened to play against me.

From my perspective, Battle Arena RPs are for characters fighting one-another (and using the power of plot to get to such a situation), while the Crossroads is for everything else which involves someone else's character interacting with yours. Character Fiction is for when it's only your own characters doing something. The Dome can incorporate any of these, depending on circumstances (Being like a Character Fiction in that you are the only writer is the most common though).

Hmm...well, I suppose that does clear things up quite a bit (nice color coding, by the way). The sad thing is that the Escapist's Haven seems to be more of a 'dead' area of ZU.

^Yeah I noticed that too. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of people that are active in the Escapist's Haven.

It's always like that. When I joined, there were a decent amount of activity, but it quickly diminished. And then a bunch of newbies came, and activity rose again. And right now, there are a bunch of newcomers, and since not many of the 'elders' are very active, you are what keeps this place active.

Yeah.... What are the 'elders' doing? I have no idea.... Procrastination much, I guess.. Also, I think they are doing something to revamp the Battle School.
