"Well," I said holding the last syllable while I searched for an excuse, "for one thing, we both want to get in there and it will be easier if we help each other. If you want a second reason, I'm just a really nice guy then."

"You paused for a second there. That means you were looking for an excuse." I heard him curse under his breath. "Now, tell me truthfully."

"Well that was the truth," I said rubbing the back of my head, "it's just not the whole truth. You wouldn't believe the whole truth even if I told you." It was true too. Who would believe I was a dimension hopping time traveler, who'd met them already in a parallel universe? God maybe, but no one with enough sanity left in their head to count to 3 without laughing maniacally.

"Try me. I've seen everything from endangered bugs to demansion hoppers."

"Eh..."

That last part caught me off guard.

"Well then," I said looking him square in the face, "I'm helping you cuz you're my friend. I met you in a parallel dimension before. We've helped each other out a few times."

"I would have thought as much. The way you let your guard down in the cave mouth was my beacon." And I was telling the truth. It was easy to tell if you knew how to look.

"What I'm wondering," I said taking a bite of my steak which was starting to get cold, "is what other dimension hoppers you've seen. The other you never mentioned them."

"Actually, I can do that to. Did my other self seem interested in your power to do that? I still don't really understand it. Sometimes my powers take on a mind of their own and take me where I'm needed. I don't know why."

"That explains a lot," I said, "its a common phenomenon though. The mechanics of how are easy for me to understand, but the why is what always eludes me. I've even been caught in stuff like that before. Most people can't return to their home dimension, but some get lucky. I can jump between dimensions at will so its not really a problem for me. As for the other you, he was somewhat interested, but he never really asked about it."

"Well, after each adventure, I am always transported back to this demension. Can you explain that to me?"

"God loves you?" I said shrugging, "or what ever gods created this universe. It's actually quite interesting the number of all powerful deities I've met and bugged..."

I made a amused sound, and said, "When do you want to storm the temple?"

"Don't you laugh at me," I said laughing myself, "tomorrow morning is as good as ever. We'll have to get up early so we can choose the tree that slams down the door though."

"How 'bout that one right outside the cave?" I said, pointing to a tree that was long, wide, and looked very strong.

"It's been hollowed out," I said shaking my head, "it seems to be an air system to let air into the temple...wait a tick."

"Are you thinking the same thing I'm thinking?" I didn't wait for his answer. "Let's make a hole in the tree and I will crawl through, unless there is enough space for you. If not, than I will sneak around, look for the gate controls, and open the gate enough for you to get through. Or we could proceed with your plan, it doesn't really matter to me.

"It looks like there's enough room for me to fit," I said starting to think over the billions of ideas in my head, "but if it gets narrower, I can always warp my way in...come to think of it, I can bring people using my form of warp...no telling what effects it might have on your body though."

"I've passed between dimensions, gone through black holes, and donne every type of traveling I can imagine. Try it."

"My form of travel isn't conventional, and isn't designed to be used on living beings though," I said just so he understood what I was saying.

"See, I guessed that. I will weave a shield around my body so that all my atoms will stay in the same place. Let's try it." I said, urging him on.
