The City (Must have permission from me to post in this thread)
I was walking in the forest, and saw buldings as high as the sky. I watched in awe for a few seconds, and moved forward, because my supplies had run out a few days ago.

Re: The City (Must have permission from me to post in this thread)
Nik flew down from the towering structure to the forest below. She heard something so ducked in to a nearby bush, she peered out. A creature she had never seen before stood just on the other side of the bush. It continued to walk toward the structure. Nik ran to a clearing and flew back to observe that it was doing, she had become quite interested in it.

Re: The City (Must have permission from me to post in this thread)
I had heard something go into the bushes, but sensed no evil intent, just curiosity. I decided to pay it no heed for now, but put it in my mental notebook. I went to the gate, and one of the guards waved me through. I passed through a square device, and it beeped. I jumped back, alarmed, thinking it was going to attack, but one of the guards laughed and asked, "Have any metal on you?" I removed my dagger, and put it in a plastic tray, and it moved! I passed through the device again, and it made no beep noise. I retrieved my dagger, and rushed to the buildings, wondering if someone would help me find my way out.

Re: The City (Must have permission from me to post in this thread)
OOC: Tarok's first adventure in the future isn't complete without his dimension hopping buddy
.BIC: "It's great to be in a modern city for once," I said as I walked around the metropolis. Today I sported a set of civilian clothes-beige cargo pants, and a black T-shirt with a white skull picture on the chest that hung loosely on my lean frame, and hung just slightly lower than my waist-as opposed to my normal Soul Reaper robes, and a pair of shades to cover my unusually gray eyes. Just as well, instead of having my usual katana belted at my waist, Sumasshuyochi was today disguised as a simple wooden sword, which I carried slung over my shoulder, hung by a thin rope that stretched around my chest and waist. If the situation ever called for it, I could always leave my Gigai, and my usual Soul Reaper form would be what people see...if they could see me that is. The average living person couldn't see the souls of the departed after all. "It is rather nice," came Sumasshuyochi's voice from the most inner part of my soul, "it's lucky that Head Captain Yamamoto sent us to this world. Most of the time when Mayuri discovers another parallel, we end up in a medieval set up." "Yeah," I said laughing, "its almost like Kurotsuchi wants us away from modern society. Probably trying to get his rank up while I'm out in the boonies. Going from Captain to 3rd seat can't have been very fun after all." Sumasshuyochi laughed slightly, but we didn't dare continue our conversation. If we talked for too long, people would get suspicious. Even fellow Soul Reapers would. Most weren't on conversational terms with their Zanpaktou spirits. As I walked around the busy city, I stopped several time to look into the windows of the shops I was passing, and to smell the food from all the nearby restaurants. When I had stopped at a particularly delicious smelling ramen restaurant, I noticed a familiar scent on the wind. I looked towards the city entrance, and saw a small boy or about 10 or 11 walk through the metal detector, then jump when it made a beeping noise. The security guard laughed slightly, and then the boy placed a dagger on the tray and it slid through to the other side. When it was on the other side the boy grabbed it and ran, paying no heed to the security guard who was running behind him. "Sorry about that officer," I said plucking the dagger from the boys hand as he walked passed me, "I asked my little brother to fetch this for me, since I left it outside in the forest during a hike the other day." The guard looked at me suspiciously at me for a minute, then went back to his post at the gate. I turned back to the pale skinned boy, and whispered in his ear, lowering my sun glasses so he could see me eyes, "You should really be more careful Tarok." |

"A...Az? Where am I? What is happening here?" I said, panic in my voice, which was unusual for e without using all my magic. "What are these buildings? Where.... when am I?" I asked him hopefully.

Re: The City (Must have permission from me to post in this thread)
"For you this would be the future," I said standing straight and smiling, "but to me this is like modern society. In my world, there are many cities like this."
When I was sure the guard was no longer watching us, I handed Tarok back his dagger, and looked about me pretending to ignore him and said, "You have to be more careful in societies like this. War is not often present in areas like this, and people do not often travel with weapons like yours. War is much more dangerous in these time periods. You remember Francis from our travels in the desert? His guns are the closest you may ever see of this worlds weapons if you're lucky." After that I guided him back to the food district, and brought him to a small café, and ordered us both some rose tea, then when the tea had arrived I picked up mine and took a sip saying, "What are you doing here anyway? I mean you obviously came to this dimension by accident, but why didn't you just stay in the forest? It's a more suitable environment than a futuristic city." |

Re: The City (Must have permission from me to post in this thread)
"Oh believe me, I tried." I said to him, and took my dagger, being careful not to show anyone and asked, "What should i change this into that would be what a normal boy would have? My supplies ran out a few days ago and I combed this place for a town or village. All I found was this place." I picked up the tea, studied the cup carefully, got out one of my hand-carved bowels, changed it into the cup, and poured the tea in there, again being careful not to let anyone see. I drank it in sips.

Re: The City (Must have permission from me to post in this thread)
"A normal boy of your age would probably be carrying around a baseball bat," I said but stopped when I saw his clueless look, "it's like a club, but somewhat thinner."
When he still failed to grasp the concept, I pointed to the window of a sporting goods store across the street, where a gleaming aluminum baseball bat was displayed in the hands of a mannequin wearing the local team's jersey. We took a few minutes to adjust the size of his new bat in proportion with his own size, the continued drinking our tea. Without really paying attention, I reached into my pocket, and pulled out my mind reading iPod Nano, and put the left earphone in, and suddenly the song 'D-tecnolife' by 'UVERworld' was playing. Tarok looked at it in confusion, and I simply told him it was a modern device for listening to prerecorded music. |

Re: The City (Must have permission from me to post in this thread)
This was all so confusing, My head was spinning. Pre-recorded music, bats, and little devices that played them. I was already sitting down, but I was still really dizzy. I waited for it to pass, and it did, after a while.

"Must be really overwhelming," I said not really thinking about it, "I was raised in this kinda world, and its easy to adapt backwards from technology compared to adapting to technology better than your own. Buildings are way bigger too, not as beautiful in some aspects, but a lot bigger."

"You got that right." I said. I sensed someone watching us, the same presence that had found me in the forest. "We are not alone." I said to Az in my mind. He didn't look, but we made our conversation less on the past.

OOC: I'd imagine you can just post whenever. Whenever you log on check your subscriptions and see if its been updated
![]() BIC: "I know we aren't alone silly," I said laughing slightly, "we're in a city surrounded by literally thousands of humans. What worries me is the nonhuman group I've been tracking. I'm here on a job if you get my meaning." He plainly understood what I meant, but I knew his nonhuman of concern wasn't a Hollow. I had seen the harpy many times while I walked around the city, but I didn't think it was of any particular harm to us. |

"This isn't actually my home world," I said smiling, "but you're in luck. I rented a double suite at a hotel-you could call it an inn-near here."
With that said, we quickly finished the tea, I paid the bill, and we headed off towards the hotel. When we we're safely within the confines of the living room area of my suite, I turned to Tarok and said, "You're being followed by a Harpy. Any reason for it to be mad at you?" |

"Harpies sure are a strange bunch," I said deeply, "they're all wild like animals, but some of them are much more feral and birdlike than some, while others are more inclined to more human-like traits."

Re: The City (Must have permission from me to post in this thread)
"Ahh. That was a tough battle. But it was a good fight." I said, and we stopped in front of the building he was staying at. I glanced up in awe, as this was about three times as big as the biggest inn I had stayed at. We got in the room, and there was a black square device with a black sheet of glass in front of it. Az went to it, pressed a button, and moving little people were trapped in it! I jumped behind the bed.
OoC: I'm sorry Az, this is a edit.
