replied. Floratieans come down time to time. Nice. No leave harm to us like you. The Giant fungi king stated. Only way out be UP! and with that, Faite, Haradin, Zildor, and Basil, were pushed up, up, and up. Soon enough, they emerged into what appeared to be a giant forest. Except that the trees were mushrooms.

This is far up as I go. YOU go now, leave and no come back till no scratch anymore. The giant fungi king comanded.

"I think the spores have worn away..."Faite said, looking around him, The giant mushroom forest they were in had a lot of smaller creatures, most of them that coulddo little harm... but still, Faite wouldn't take the chance of it.

"Note to self... DO NOT USE FIREBALL." Faite said aloud.

"Nice fellow," Basil commented, "Quite reasonable, much better then most of the blokes I've might before."

"This place looks nice, a little breather and a chance to chat in peace, tell me dear friend how did the lot of you make it here, this place is far from a walk in the park, though I admit the vegetation is much more entertaining."

"Are you a great warrior from some far off empire or a weary traveller searching for peace... i suspect the first but looks can be deceived."

"Actually... we came here together... On accident. YOu see... I was called on by an old 'friend'," Faite spat out the word like hehad a vile taste in his mouth, "to assasinate Haradin. We were in the woods fighting each other when Zildor showed up," Faite motioned to Zildor, just in case Basil didn't realise that was him,

"And started Fighting us. he used Magic, so I just cut down what he sent my way, and eventually, Haradin came back with a small platoon of people. During this time, Zildor and I made a truce, and knocked out Haradin after defeating his platoon. After that, I was betrayed, and subsequently, so was Zildor. When we awoke, we found ourseves in the underdark with all of our gear, ready to be combatants for one of the arenas in the underdark. We weren't going to stand for that, so we slaughtered them. Then a Baskilisk came, which Haradin defeated after I stabbed out it's eyes, and Zlildor healed me afterwards. Then a roc came out of nowhere, and seperated me from them, where we we're subsequently attacked by two different halves of a six man patroll team. I used some quick wit to have one of them take out the other two, as I was alone, and Zildor and Haradin had already killed their three. After about fifteen minutes of fighting, I killed the final drow."

"Then we met you."

Now, if you don't mind answering a few questions of mine... What race are you? I've never seen one with glowing eyes... with no pupils none the less!" What we're you doing in the underdark, and What is a Florpticon?"

"You see!" Basil smiles dimly! "This is real life here, you can't make this stuff up, ya can't write it down it just happens!"

"Quite the story my dear friends, you all an odd bunch I believed at first sight but to imagine a tale of intrigue, betrayl and vicious serpents! Quite the task set before you."

I wish my entry into this place was quite as thrilling, but alas its a bit hazy dotted with blank spots and some stupid choices of directions - not very fitting of the holder of the title deity! Wouldn't you say..."

<Alas it seems we've fallen into dialogue, suppose we might have to wait for the others to show up before we hit the rough stuff, eh. Its also pretty late for me, damn insomnie spouts. Just caught the edit, give me a minute to edit my own post.>

<It's six AM here... I haven't been to bed at all! And It's kinda hard to keep this story moving with only us two... I'm gonna have to bring in some more NPC's...>

"Deity... why does that word ring a bell..."Faite pondered. "Deity means god, or one who knows alot of knowledge..." "How do you become a deity?"

< I got a small LOL at the "This is real life here, you can't make this stuff up, ya can't write it down it just happens!" crack... mostly because It just came to my mind as I was writing it.>

"Some hold we to the status of a god of sorts, though I don't hold myself to the standard."

"To be a deity, back home at least, one must reach a state of enlightenment and understanding, not just knowlege from books but of people as well," Basil shook his head, "I remember my teacher, quite the fellow, real wise, probably off somewhere now lecturing some poor dope on the balance of the world and nada-nada."

"Though it also helps if you prove yourself, I myself having saved my grand city from doom, the wrath of vicious serpent!"

""The position is much less working in the ways of the divine and more of asserting influence and balance to keep peace. You should meet my comrades, Faruk is a hoot with his whole prophet act, though he's just a good twit like myself!"

<Whatever you do is fine, I'm content with talking and expanding this universe, but I'm up for a battle if you desire one... >

<Meh... I like where this is going, I say we keep hits small talk up for a while to see if the other two return, if not, then we should head on.>

"So a deity is one wit a higher understanding, who has also done something to help an entire city? If that is true, would it be possible for a Humble dwarf like me to become one?" Faite asked meekley, drwan in by this mans words. "I mean, if I knew more about the world? I didn't exactly get this armor after killing a goblin you know..." Faite said, motioning to his Dragon armor. "I got it from saving my villiage from ared fire dragon." Faite boasted, feeling proud of himself.

"Of course you could rise to such a position!" Basil remarked, "You should see the other 3 Great Deities! You could get in with a bit of work!"

"But its not the saving the city that matters, moreso the Deity must hold this sense of enlightenment, live by it... I didn't come to the position for being a warrior, I came to power having saved life rather then ending it, and even then, that was not enough, I had to struggle, to understand."

Basil motions to the emblem on the protector on his headdress, "Yin-Yang, balance and all that exists with it, no matter how dark a light shall shine through and no matter how bright a shadow shall be cast and that within every evil drells good and even the purest intentions may carry a darkness, some fetishistic deviation, damning to even a good man even though it ultimately does not effect him."

"It is on the standards of balance that our powers are set, we deities are 'balanced' individuals, so they say, and with us we carry dark intentions and pure motives... But ultimately we can set aside or greed and lust and slothful behavior to aid those that matter."

"Even Hayao, the darkest of amongst our ranks burned to the bone by acid and donning a mask bearing a skull, more machine then man some say, has such a kind heart... For every injury he has attained has come to protect his people..."

"But I rant, we deities are interesting fellows nonetheless, with great accomplishments and lifes in the three's.... I hope I've not bored you."

<I'm pulling alot from my story!>

"Bored me? No, In fact... I think after i get out of this area, I shall begin to study to become a deity!" Faite said with enthusiasm "one thing though... can deity's believe in gods? Becaue I don't think my god, Tempus, would like that very much ." Faite said,"But my mind is open to all things, and I try to be ballanced... It just doesn't work out all the time."

Faite began meditate on what Basil had told him. "To be a deity, you must achieve a sence of higher enlightenment, live by what you have learned, and be balanced. You must be able to put aside lust and greed, in order to get things done. Each life you take has to be to save one in turn, right?"

Faite began thinking about gods... did tempus really Help him, or was it just the thought of tempus helping him that helped him? Faite seemed to do alright on his own. And in a battle, could always be called on to give a tactical view, but was that just the god of war giving him knowledge about the subject, or was it just his own wits."

"I fear I know not what I once thought I knew." Faite said.

"Gods!" Basil chuckled, "never spent my time contemplating such before but I can assure you that it doesn't matter what you beleive so long as you hold to the proper standard."

Basil tilted his head back and reflected, "Good ole Faruk I was telling you about, he refused the title of Deity and is rather known as the 'Prophet' of the Sands!" Basil sighed, "a prophet of a grand religion, deep in the grandest of deserts where he defeated the monster bird, and from its gizzard took the stones that built the grand temple of his one god!"

Sight. "At least the man is reasonable, not fanatic to the point of maddness but understanding nonetheless."

"But really on the subject of things such as greed and sloth and carnal sin the word is not 'reject' but control... you must not reject but neither indulge, limitation and self control will go farther then denying ones self of human ways" Basil flashes another deviant grin, "Trust me as I would know."

"Alas the important thing is not to have the people veiw you as dine, but that you should know you remain who you are and hold yourself to your faults and strengths."

"Just know this, a fool will know everything because he has denied himself his own hindsight, but a genius will know little and gradually learn he knows less and less of the what lies around him."

"That must have been a big bird..." Faite said, just trying to imagine the size of it hurt his head.
"Is there a test of some sort that I would have to pass? or an asencion ritual?" Or is it just becoming one of a higher knowledge who works for the greater good of man kind? Faite was now excited about the prospect of becoming a Deity. "And One more thing... You keep saying Human... I'm not a human, but a dwarf... Can I still be a deity?"

"No test, no ascesion, just gotta be noted upon by the head Deity," Basil paused in though, "We just call him 'The Writer' he has cronicled so much of the world and is considered the most enlightened of us... it was his judgement that bid me access, heck, all of us access to the position we hold, the longevity we enjoy and the goal we strive for..."

"There is no restrictions on race, sex or any other thing," Basil toyed with his goggles, "you'll find us quite understanding, though, there are 4 Great Deities and 1 Head, you might serve better in a Low Deity role... doesn't carry the prestige of the my ranking but it is domestic and easier, and if you don't like the politics that go with the job you can always fall back on the governor or cheif or whatever that runs the show a step behind you!"

"I'm not to good with the workings of the military or navy of Yuzhno-Karafuto," Basil closes his eyes and thinks of good old memories, "I left that work to my dear dear friend Burldon who runs the navy and suchm great man he is, has kept the city up to state and knows his place... the ole city has had some hard times in the past."

"And the 'Writer" keeps tabs on everyone? How hard is it to meet him, if I even have too?" Faite wondered, thinking about becoming a deity had gotten to Faite... he now truly wished to become one. "What happens if you fall out of the deity role?"

<I think im about out of questions for the moment...>

"He seems to have an eye everywhere, don't plan on meeting him, should he find great potential he shall seek you out," Basil said, "I'm not insulting your abilities but he will not be the one to set you forth towards enlghtenment, it is a revelation that you must reach first."

"I cannot say, for no deity has fallen truly, atleast the ones of my rank," Basil scratched his head, "though I wouldn't bet it reflects well on your reputation.

<Aye, I'm about to try for some sleep myself... Though, a funny note the idea of the character 'The Writer' is a mix of reference and an ego trip for myself... I modeled the fellow after myself and in the story he ironically claims "I know the grandest workings of this world and all its history is revealed to me!" referencing my position as writer and creator of the setting... Though in earlier ideas I planned to kill myself off! and then have the story just stop there! Right in the middle! "Dude! WTF why isn't he continuing the story!" "Cause the Writers dead you jackass!" Then I laugh maniaclly and throw a spoon against the wall >

OoC: I thought I would say this before I leave for the lake: damn you guys have been doing work. I'll add something when I get home.

Ooc: I pretty much skipped half that conversation.

Bic: As Faite and Basil began talking, I quietly walked off, and then transformed into a wolf so I wouldn't get so lost. I began exploring the area around us. As I wandered about, I smelled something I hadn't smelt in a while. Fresh air. Lots of it. With ecstasy I dashed off towards my companions. I quickly told them what I had found.

the squad fallowed wolf Zildor toward the fresh air all running as fast as they could, to keep up with the fast beast.

OoC: bah I'm tired I was out on the lake all day, maybe I can come up with something tomorrow.

<On the move already? I was actually planning on spending a couple days in the forest, as it was peaceful there...and I would like the wall spoon And why is it that Me and BTM seem more active at night??>

bic: Faite's mind was rushing... becoming a deity was a goal now... a long term goal, but a goal none the less. Would he be able to become one soon? He knew that was almost a definate know, as he had many trials , and personal demons to face first. The worst one being Anoen (one of my stories... I actually need to give her a way to die in the underdark... be it of natural causes, or assasination... I don't know.) As they followed the wolf zildor had become, Faite began thinking...

I wonder.... is it possible that he found one ofthe small chasums that open up into the outside world? or is it just a small cubby hole, where fresh air coulld leak through but nothing could get out? "Does anyone else notice that we're being watched, or is that just me?" Faite asked, glancing at the shadows where fungi men stared at them as they fervently rushed towards the fresh air.

"Because I think they may know something me may -" Faite tripped on something before he could finish the sentance. "not." Faite finnished, after sitting up and checking what he had tripped on. It was a bag... a rather heavy bag too. Faite carefully opened the bag, and gasped. What he saw inside was more than just nothing, yet less than something. It looked as if the bag was empty... but there was most assuredly something in it. Faite could not 'see' it per say, but he could feel it... It felt like power. Not the corruption kind of power, just raw power. "Um... basil... you may want to take a look at this... do you have any clue what it is?"

Basil stepped to Faite's side, and looked it over, "that would be a bag my dear Faite, it is used for the transportation of goods and armory and can be slung over the shoulder to be carried with ease."

"Quite far off from enlightenment if you don't know the purpose of a bag," Basil laughed, though his interest was sparked...

"However you have we wondering, do you sense something I do not," Basil shrugged, "I do suppose we should leave it, for all we know the thing is laced with plague or poision... or perhaps some foreign aprodisiac"

"Perhaps we should keep it!" Basil shakes his head, "mah, the chances of that are slim, but alas what do you think it is? I would prefer to get out of the forest befoe the millinium passes."

Haradin walked over to take a look at the bag.

"Woah," Haradin said, "this bag, there is something about this bag."

"You feel it too Haradin," Faite asked.

"We need to take this bag," Haradin commanded.
