The City of Garal(anyone)

ooc:This is the city where Joe grew up as a blacksmith's son.
Joe was sitting in his house, reading a book. The book told of distant lands with strange machinery:something called a gun among other things. He was reading by the light of a fireball he had conjured above his head. Joe glanced to his bookshelf. There were many titles; fiction and nonfiction, Harry Potter and Fire Magic for Dummys were among them.
There was suddenly a large crash from outside. Joe heard a scream and ran outside. There were men attacking the city! Houses were alight with fire and people were being killed. Joe returned inside and grabbed his sword, Kaila, and his bow and arrows. He rushed outside, arrow notched. Joe began firing at every villian he saw. Then the arrows stopped coming! He had run out! "Damn," Joe muttered.There was a sudden thunk, and Joe fell to the ground, unconcious.
Joe awoke in a cell with barred windows. He was lying on the floor in rags he did not want to know who had put on. He looked out the window and saw he was still in Garal! He looked out the cell door and saw his equipment, just out of his reach. He tried to pick the lock, but his hands were tied. "They may have took me by surprise," Joe said, menacingly."But they'll pay. Oh they'll pay." Joe burned the ropes off and picked the lock.
In moments it was open. He slipped on his gear and slipped out the door. He came out on a balcony overlooking Garal, ten stories below. He turned to find another way when twenty guards came through the door! He looked around, wishing he had his rope. Then he saw it: a vine running to the ground! Joe slipped down the vine. When he got down, he cut it, preventing pursuers. He returned to his house to plan his next move.

Fergus the Zora Alchemist was working in his study when he heard the men come. he peered out of the window and saw hundreds of soldiers burning and killing everythingand everybody. Fergus gathered his spellbooks, grabbed his staff and dashed out of the house edging along the wall so as not to make a sound. He started to lift up the sewer cover to jump down and swim to safety but as he did someone fell on him. "Ouch" cried Fergus.

Joe paced his study restlessly. How could he have let that happen?! His freinds and neighbors were dead. He heard a scream and ran outside, expecting more bandits, but saw the flash of fin and hand fall into the sewer. He ran forward and saw a zora trapped beneath a mans corpse. Joe hopped down and lifted the corpse off the zora and offered him his hand."You alright?"

BIC:I was passing through the town under the guise of a traveler. One night, in his room that he rented at the inn, the heard a bloodcurdling scream, one he would hear for a while to come and looked out just in time to see little fires racing among the pavement, like little sprites, to fight off the night gloom. I remembered that the night air was dry, dry like the desert.The perfect kind of air for burning.
That night I transferred as much energy energy as I could into my emerald, and as routine, shrunk them to the size of a dime and hid them in the folds of my ear.I woke up the next morning and a sudden realization came to me. They only targeted the Scholar's houses! Well, he wasn't going to stand for that, no sir. A red haze fell across his eyes like a veil, coating everything in a sense of unreality.
As he was heading along, he noticed a someone rushing, he couldn't tell who, because of the rushing of the person but decided to tag along anyways.

As Joe helped the zora up, he noticed his friend Axen above him. "Bye Mr. Zora!" Then, climbing out of the manhole,"wud up, Axen?" Joe said, walking and talking toward his house. "Refreshments?" he asked, stepping inside.

Bic:

How long I had been running, I did not know. Since I had entered the strange town, I had been chased endlessly by heavily armoured men, each carrying bloodied swords. Though I did not understand why they came after me, I didn't stop to ask. Everywhere I looked there were dead bodies, smoke streaming out of the stone houses which made up the town.

I had been playing touch and go for a while, thinking I was safe in one corner only to be found by the voilent men with their gleaming swords and chased again. Exausted by all of the running, I decided on one last attempt to escape from the warriors. Once I rounded one corner of a house, I dashed into its doorway, praying that the men would just run past.

My plan worked to some extent. I managed to close the door behind me before the gaurds came, and I heard them run past. With a sigh of releif, I leaned against the door, gazing for the first time at the building I had run into. To my horror, there were two men standing before me, one wearing a golden breastplate, and a taller man in a black cloak. Both of them were looking at me, their weapons already in their hands. Both looked seasoned in battle, holding their blades expertly, as only true battle artists can.

Not good. I backed against the door, hesitant to run knowing that there were only more men outside. Thankfully, neither immediately attacked me, and as I looked, I saw that their eyes did not hold the same malice as those that had chased me. Still, I was extoordinarily nervous, knowing that my eyes would give away the truth I could not hide. I wasn't quite human, and that was a source of fear for many that came accross me.

Unable to keep the quivering out of my voice, I nervously spoke. "I...I didn't mean to..." I couldn't finish. What could I possibly say?

OoC: Sorry it's so dead, please don't close it mods.
BiC: "Well, your pretty," Joe said smiling at the girl around his age. "May I ask your name? We aren't as mean as those other men. I'm Joe, and this is Axen. I think I'll take care of her, Axen."
"Okay," Axen said, running off to fight the remnants of the enemy.
"Come inside, Axen couldn't join us.


OoC: I did that because he wasn't posting.

Ooc: Since I'm a bit new to all of this, I'm not entirely sure how one writes a conversation between two different people. Just for the sake of interest, I'll only write my character's responses, so my post is gonna be a bit small. Anyways, who says you can't breath new life into your own creation?

Bic:

Needless to say, I was puzzled by the man's adrupt kindness. Was this light attitude towards me brought on because he didn't see me as a threat, or were the people of this town already accustomed to uninvited guests such as I? He had even called me pretty...why was it that he hadn't taken to all those I had known before; all those that had run from me at the mere sight of my strange eyes? At any rate, I was still staring at him and he at me, so I had to say something.

"I am Leonna..." I thrust the words out bluntly, a mechanical reaction to the man's inquiry. "Those men outside...you know them?"

Joe scowled. "I didn't know them until a few days ago, they attacked our city. I tried to stop them, but they knocked me out and I escaped from the castle which is now their base. Also, to your expression I can see your not accustomed to kindness. I do not fear much, having the love of my life taken from me." Joe cringed. "Sorry, I do not like to talk about my past. It is nice to meet you, Leonna, welcome to Garal. Please, come inside, I have refreshments, you look as if you need it."
Joe lead the way inside.

"Thank...you," I responded apprehensively. Being invited into a stranger's home in a strange town with strange things going on-- just how much more was going to happen? At least the man seemed kind enough, though it was plain that he had known tragedy. With all of the destruction that had recently passed, such a story as his was most likely a common one.

Trying to appear normal, I forced my body, stiff with nervousness, to sit in a nearby chair (Ooc: I'm assuming there's a chair in the house, but there hasn't been much description of it, so I'll leave that to you. Bic. Since he had been kind enough to offer refuge, I had to appear somewhat grateful for it. "Who are these men that slaughter your people, and why do you remain under such circumstances?"

"These men I'm guessing are the simple-minded barbarians that live a few miles away from here. Or they could be slaveholders..." Joe looked stricken at that thought. "We remain like this? This only started a few nights ago. Most of us are peaceful. What would you like to drink? I have tea, wine, water, pretty much anything you want," Joe declared. "I'm sorry, but I really don't want to speak of my own past. If I may ask, your eyes are a bit off, are you some kind of magical creature or do you have magical power? I myself am very adept in fire magic."

"My...eyes?" I looked away. Of course this man didn't know, even I didn't know what I was. My eyes were only one of the few signs of what I truly was, signs that had lead others to call me a demon. Yet, if this man could harness the power of fire as well, perhaps I was not quite as different as I thought. "Yes, I, too, can use what you call fire magic. As for what I am...you know as well as I do. Some water would be most welcome."

"Water," Joe repeated and bustled out of a side door into the kitchen to fill up a glass of water and one of tea for himself. He came back and handed the girl the water. "Here, drink up,"Joe said, sitting in a chair opposite hers. "Where did you come from? I myself have spent years studying fire magic, I was born here and always come back to this house after a trip. You seemed to be unaccustomed to people not shunning you, as you were tentative coming in. If I may ask, why is that? Why are people mean to you? I see nothing odd except your captivating eyes, and I find them pretty."
Joe smiled at Leonna and sipped his tea.

“That is…kind of you to say.” I avoided the man’s gaze, despite the fact that he was sitting right in front of me. No one had ever asked me about my past, and it felt awkward to explain it. “I hail from a village called Bren, a place quite far from here. The people there have certain…beliefs, which make many of them uncomfortable around me. I believed any others would share the same stigma, but I am grateful that this is not so. Still, I do wish to apologize for barging in so suddenly. I was chased here by the men you spoke of, and it is clear that your people are in distress. Please, allow me to return your kindness by offering my own aid. I’m not sure how much I can do, but I will do whatever I can.”

"Thank you, Leonna, I'm sure them, and me, would appreciate that. You can calm down around me, don't be so uptight, I'm sure there are other people like that. I would like to get to know you, but we must get down to business, what can you do?" Joe asked, becoming suddenly serious.

The direct question caught me off gaurd. I had never taken the time to measure out my abilities and try to figure out what I could do with them. "Well, I can fight, " I replied holding up my glass-like staff, "and I have healing magic as well, but I'm not entirely sure how effective it is on hu--I mean, on other people." I had healed my own wounds and those of animals, but I had always been to afraid to use such power on a human.

It probably wasn't the best time to mention just how far from a human I was. Though the man had been friendly, I still didn't want to risk scaring him. As long as I kept the flame off of my hands and my wings from my back, I looked like a human--mostly, anyways. I still hadn't figured out what to do about the eyes.

Joe caught the hesitancy. "You were about to say humans, what are you hiding? I swear I've heard worse, just tell me. Due to all the stuff I've seen, whatever you have wouldn't scare me in the slightest. As for your powers, we need to move, the sooner you answer, the sooner we save my city. Just calm down, I don't judge harshly."
Joe smiled reassuringly as he drank his tea.

Ugh. Reason. I hated reason. How was I supposed to argue with that? His people were in danger, and trying his patience was nothing short of a bad idea. "Alright then, you desire to know the truth? Then you shall have it." I stood slowly, taking my cloak from my shoulders. I outstreched my arms to either side of me, summoning forth the flame that burned within me. Fire immediately sprang from my hands, covering much of my lower arms. My wings outstreched from my back as a bird''s do when they leap from a branch to fly.The feeling was actually relaxing, as if I had been cramped for years and finally allowed the space to strech.

I could feel my fire heat up the room, which must have been far to hot to be comfortable for the man. It was significantly brighter, too, lighting up the whole room with my fire. It was a truly hostile thing to do, but I wanted the rejection to be over with. The sooner I left, the sooner he could get to those that needed him.

Joe recoiled at the heat. He ran to the bookshelf to look up a water spell. He found one and put out his house.
"Intriguing...How did you do that?" Joe asked, looking at the wings now that the fire had been put out. "This is cool, this will definitely help in our battle," Joe said, not scared, awed.

Ooc: Oh, sorry. Just to clarify, Leonna didn't actually light his house on fire. I just felt the need to say that cause' that'd be a really mean thing for Leonna to do, and she's just looking to scare Joe, not fight him. This whole comment is negligable none the less, so...uh...onward!

Bic:

I was shocked. The flame in my hands died instantly, unable to sustain itself. Is his heart made out of steel? He isn't defensive, not even afraid! There had been only one other man I had known that shared the same reaction upon seeing my power, and I had merely been a child then. Watching this man looking at me like I was a human...it was in every way surreal.

"Help in battle? Do you not see me clearly? I will destroy anything that touches my flame, whether they are friend or foe, yet you do not fear this. Why?" (Ooc: just to clarify, Leonna isn't trying to say she's going to purposly kill him, she's just afraid that she might hurt him in battle)
